You don't think that if you spoke out against a "God Hates Fags" rally and were imprisoned because you were an atheist it'd be a big deal?
We have a legal document which allows for the free and unimpeded freedom of speech in America. If you were to speak out against something, you'd be exercising your 1st Amendment rights, and, therefore, not arrested. Such an imprisonment would be unconstitutional. I really don't see where your going with this. I just meant that Atheism is not a religion, and shouldn't be treated like one. Everyone is free to express their ideas... Also, that law is still on the books, but it's highly unlikely anyone would be arrested under it. The last time someone was arrested under that law was in the late 1800s.
There are many things in the bible even I don't agree with, but it's certainly not enough to renounce my faith. My input on religion. It really does suck, wars fought, people hurt, people sterotyped and discriminated against. I feel that tolerance really needs to come into play here. If alot of christian would just stop pushing and pushing our religion on other, scoffing at those whom don't believe, calling them stupid, constantly trying to use God in every day affairs, trying to claim his existence. Faith is belief without proof. Real christians don't need proof. As for Atheism. I respect atheists, because they're firm and astute in their beliefs as well, many of my friends are atheists, not a big deal at all. However, I just can't stand it when some atheistic people will call christian ignorant, I know some christians act the same toward non-religious people. But those who don't don't deserve it. This applies to atheists and christian. Just my input. I left severals gaps because I was short on time. Boxes please.
Fun fact: In Massachusetts, blasphemy is actually illegal!
Goddamnit Massachusetts, for God's sake get up to speed.
And how do you think life on earth started? But I do agree. They should not talk about creationism in school. And a quick thought on abortion: Ok, walk around on the street. Look at babies. They're adorible, right? Well think about killing that baby. Also, if the baby is in the womb and they kill it, it's abortion. If it's head comes out and they accidently kill the baby, it's murder. So abortion and murder can be about 2 seconds away from each other, but one is legal and the other is illegal. And a quick thought on evolution: So, apparently animals adapt to their enviroment. If there was a family that loved water, they lived in water their whole life, and had babies there and kept having them and lived the whole time for hundreds of years, would they grow gills? Of course not. and another thought on evolution: Basically evolution is there was a tide pool of little cells. And one day those cells said, "well, I'm tired of swimming around all the time, let's turn into a zebra." and some more cells said" well, I kind of want to fly around, let's turn into an eagle." And it goes on.
I think you are retarded. Go see a doctor about that.

If you believe something then you believe it's true (or are pretty sure it's true). You are saying that you don't need proof to believe something, would you believe the doctor needs to amputate your arm because he had a hunch? And that he has faith in it so he doesn't need this silly "proof" thing people go on about? Wait hang on, that's my fucking arm, I want fucking proof that you need to cut it off to save my life. "Real Christians" who accept there's no proof in Christianity and believe anyway are just in denial.

Pardon, did I say I didn't believe? :l, I meant proof religous wise, and besides, you can't really say what real christians are because this is all just opinion. Sorry, you clearly see the arguments religion brings up. :buddy:
Um... A. Lol, trolling. B. You're a clear product of religion's tendency to impart a tremendously arrogant sense of superiority into it's followers. C. You resort to making massive assumptions and generalizations because you've been so heavily indoctrinated that the mere concept of someone believing something different than you is simply too much for you to wrap your idiotic little head around.
Listen, I respect your "religion" or non-religion or whatever, but please, if you don't believe in it don't talk shit about it, That's all, Now please, I got to pray. Good day, sir.
if youre an athiest then make your own boyscouts if youre not christian. dont mooch off other religions creations. make your own if you dont like the rules plus you dont really have a religion. and the founding fathers made this a nation where no religion is discriminated against. so define religion but still maybe you should get a boat and head west and find an island and start your island nation of atheists who will take over America
Communists called religion "Opium of the People" for a reason. Why should we give up something that can heal so much pain? Is ultimate truth really that important to have ignorant idiots succumb to decadent hedonism and violence in the name of truth? Or should those ignorant idiots be fed religious lies so that they happen to be polite and kind to those people who have to deal with them, and they could live happy lives themselves? Ignorance is bliss remember. Think about it.
Obama lied, America is a Christian country.
The next thing was that you cannot sign up for ANY legislative or otherwise state-governing branch if you did not believe in the christian god in 7 states and more. How? how does this make any sense? Does your god send you messages of good law? good reason? FUCK NO, IT'S YOU WHO DOES THAT!
This is something I can agree with. One's religious beliefs should not be a determining factor in eligibility government positions, with the exception of dangerous underground religions (if there are any). However, that is there issue, as a state, to resolve. Not the entire country.

That's basically like saying denial of public office on the basis of race or sex should be legal, as long as states decide whether or not to do it.
Government don't listen to us. I guess we'll have to deal with it for now... ...we shall rebel :smug:

Sure, you can make claims about them being delusional or in denial or ignorant all you want, but for some people the delusion helps. It gives them hope, no matter how false, and that is whats important(religion won't be disproved until you die anyways so what does it matter). As long as someone respects my non-belief, I will respect their belief. [editline]11:14PM[/editline]
This is something I can agree with.
Maybe not, but most of them are. You're ignorant.
Most is a very powerful word to use in a debate. It has the power to mostly make you look like an idiot, for example.
Wow, I never realized how much athiests were discriminated against, my school is pretty tolerant of it. We really should do something to change this.
It's OK, this will all be fixed after the revolution. The constitution will be framed in everyones home and everyone will know their rights.
We claim to be a secular nation, even mandate it under our constitution, but stuff like this is clear evidence to the world that a significant portion of the country seeks to establish nothing less than a Christian theocracy, complete with public execution of nonbelievers, homosexuals, adulterers, and anyone else that doesn't fit their specific view of morality. Read the Old Testament sometime and count the number of executions, rapes, and genocides ordered by God. Apart from all that shit (which is both numerous and shitty) is my serious problem with the fact that religion, even the apparently benign religion of your local church, is dangerous because it pounds one basic concept into the heads of it's believers, from as early an age as possible: It is a virtue to blindly believe something despite all evidence to the contrary. Religious people aren't taught to weigh evidence, look at both points of view, listen to arguments, and decide for themselves. They are indoctrinated to unquestioningly believe what someone in a position of religious authority tells them, and by extension any other person of authority who has the appearance of being pious. I hate to be so arrogant about it, but religion is built on the cultivation of weak-minded sheep who are trained from baptism not to think for themselves. And that's fucking dangerous. That's what leads people to strap explosives to themselves and blow apart women and children: The blind belief that this is what God wants, and they will be rewarded for it. Even your garden variety church is dangerous simply because it cultivates that attitude of blind subservience that is so easily exploited.
I could never agree more.
Maybe y'all should just become Christian, like regular people.
Maybe y'all should just become Christian, like regular people.
Damn not straight
What part of Mexico? Some parts don't follow the constitution at all. .
Whole México.
We all know that those laws preventing atheists from joining legislature are bad. Actually, they're not laws. Just on the application form, it is required to state your religion. Anyway, everyone knows this is bad, it's just that there are more pressing matters at hand right now.
Does this need discussion? Of course religious based laws are dumb. :derp:
That's fucking badass, imagine how great America would be if we operated like that. Just try to picture going to school and not being pressured into praying.
