The animatrix was good.
But I've only seen spirited away, are his other 'films' as good?
Check out Princess Mononoke and Laputa. I think they are two of his best films.
I don't really care, liking/disliking something based upon where it comes from or animation style never made any sense to me. They both have good and bad shows.
In fact when people say they "hate" (quotes because I expect the majority are bandwagonners) I understand what exactly they hate, since they never seem to specify. The only thing I can assume they mean is the animation style but hating it because of that seems dumb to me. Like saying you hate Spongebob because it's animated like most Nickelodeon shows and saying that The Simpsons is far superior because of the way it's animated.
I don't know if that is what most people hate about it and I expect there are other things people hate about anime too. It's just that the art style is the only thing I can assume it is since I can't think of anything else that would be in common between all (or at least most) animes.
Also what's up with the poll being closed in 2028?

And My Neighbor Totoro
I love animation in general, so I don't give a damn where it is from. :|
Grave of Fireflies is easily the most depressing piece of anime I've seen.
There are plenty of good shows out there with a decent or good plot, likable characters, animation is another thing.
No, there aren't.
No, there aren't.
Fucking retard.
Um, American animation styles range a lot more than anime. There's a Simpson's style, and Family Guy style and other styles like that used for humor. There are serious styles, like the styles used for the justice league and the old spawn cartoons in the 90's (Fuckin' love Spawn). There's the 80's style like in He-Man and the thundercats. There are also stranger styles, like the south park cutout shapes and the Ed, Edd and Eddy moving lines. There are a lot of cartoon styles that American cartoons use, whereas as Japanese is just... anime/manga. Although, one thing I don't like is when American styles try to copy anime, like the Boondocks, or Teen Titans.
[editline]10:35PM[/editline]
I mean, some animes use more colors than others (Dragon Ball series being colorful and Big O being dark and more serious). Every now and then they more depth in the color, but the styles and shapes have always been similar. Also, anime never moves the plot fast enough, and always has a bunch of stupid giggly scenes.
oh god, what have I started...?
A Debate

Both are equally shitty
The right one has shading. The left one doesn't.
Find better examples.
Anime gets a bad rep from a lot of stuff like Naruto and Bleach, when there's a lot of good stuff out there.
If you were from Japan, and all you saw of Western Animation was family guy, you'd be pretty underwhelmed. Similarly, not all Anime is brightly colored mangirls in giant robots singing about love.
Case and point, Cowboy Bebop.
Please direct me to the brightly coloured hair, crazily designed characters, and weird morals about love and friendship.
Similarly, compare american crap like iCarly to Lucky Star, and you've got your parallel.
Call me a weaboo if you like, but I personally like Naruto for the fighting and story, although it's become so ridiculously convoluted that it's hard to follow now, and it takes ages for anything to happen.

I don't think you have done enough research on that matter before posting that.

To be honest, I couldn't understand why people are interested in some of the American shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guys when I first came to North America, until a few years ago.

Do you always talk out your ass.
Or is this just a special occasion?
Mix of both.
I usually watch "American animation" but i do enjoy some animes like Lucky Star and Death Note. Also just because i watch LS doesn't mean I'm some perverted nerd who goes all crazy over the subject. In fact in public i never would even think of mentioning anime.
American
People generalize too much when it comes to anime. I'm not big on anime myself, I've only seen 4, I finished naruto finished death note finished code geass and I am currently watching Bleach. Hadn't seen anime before that, but I heard alot of bad things about anime which is why I didnt start watching it before this late. Turns out anime is awesome, but just like everything, it also has bad shows.
Are you guys seriously telling me there is no bad american animation? Jesus, get your facts straight before deciding. I bet not even half the people here bashing anime has even seen it for real. Some stupid cat eared pics and one or two lucky star scenes doesn't count as having seen anime.

You talk as if anime is some sort of negative thing.
We are 31 people in my class, 23 of those people watch anime and read manga. They are the reason I started watching and when I started watching it for real I really liked it.
american barring cowboy bebop
cowboy bebop owns
