• Bans for language in online game servers? SERIOUSLY?

A rule that demands you to swear? Oh man people are gonna get creative with that :allears:
Also, People get tired of teenager Captain Haddocks FAST.
server admins can do whatever they want, not saying it's sensible though. Little kids shouldn't play M rated games.
Rated you disagree by accident, was meant to agree :saddowns: I don't allow swearing on my servers. I don't see how it makes my servers a better place to be. Personally I prefer to not hear swears constantly, and since they are my servers, I enforce it. If people don't like it, they can join another server.
I got banned from 2 CoD4MW servers yesterday for telling someone to fuck off. :effort:
If I ever have a server, I'll ban people for NOT swearing I'm tired of anti-swearing rules in games where the actual characters swear
If I ever have a server, I'll ban people for NOT swearing I'm tired of anti-swearing rules in games where the actual characters swear
Yeah all the Call of Duty 2 servers for patch 1.3 have no swearing rules, got so annoyed that I reinstall call of duty 2 and went back to version 1.2, much better :D
I got banned from and ego server for swearing. Once it lifted, I binded my mouse 1 button to "say "fuck this server you are all immature faggots who are drenched in the admin's nigger cum" Spammed that everytime a kid said something on the mic, or when someone spoke in chat. I've since been perma'd, and I've been IP banned from their website. O well :v:
I don't mind when the server rules are "No Sexism/Rascism", and especially when it's "Do not use language to put others down". When people come in just to say "Fuck yall", it's really not appropriate, no matter how old you are.
But if the swearing is excessive it gets childish and stupid....But i agree with ya...
yeah the circumstances are ridiculous -PLAYER BANNED FOR WORD: "cum"- [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] this genuinely happens on BF2 servers
It's even better when playing something like BC2, with a built-in filter. I joined a server once, and it had it turned off. I said "damn", and after 2 minutes an admin permabanned me. I was both enraged and laughing like a madman
Minigun is censored in BC2, due to it having nig in it. Fun fact.
The following is an opinion thread. Okay, I'm sorry. If the game says, "RATED M FOR MATURE", and you're 10 years old, you shouldn't have it. If you do I don't have an issue, but when it affects my gameplay, I do. Banning swearing in servers that are 17+ is just plain out idotic. I hate getting banned for saying, "Hey bitches." because I am quite often, that or I get yelled at for using 'innappropriate language' when I really did nothing wrong. The game says, "RATED M". Fellow server owners, I'd like you to get together and stop pointless banning. Even when the game is rated T or 13+, in PG-13 movies, they can say 'fuck' (though use is limited). Well my rant is over, what do you think? Should there be Language banning in online servers? State your reasoning and support it with logical facts.
When did angry womens become swearing?
yeah i can feel you op, many times i've gotten kicked for saying shit like "execute those BLU motherfuckers" in TF2 upon round victory. it's kinda dumb. and i'm not the type who spams the chat either, i just occasionally type out something when i play. and if i chat to someone, theres no reason not to be polite ofc, unless someone is like "lol l2p" then i just say shut the fuck up and hunt their asses down. anyway, i joined some no-swearing child-friendly server, and i asked "oh so no swearing or bad language even though its a mature game?" and they just said yeah, like it or leave it. well i didn't leave, i just said I'm not gonna play nice, i could imagine the kids swearing at home for getting so defenselessly killed.
When did angry womens become swearing?
Bitches also means female dogs.
Play Bad Company 2, Swearing in game, Chat Sensors.
Bitches also means female dogs.
damn you FEMALE DOGS
If you have BC2 go in MP and shoot a teammate. it will say: "YOU DUMBFUCK" or "WATCH YOUR FIRE, FUCKTARD" etc.. But you can't even say "idiot" because of the filter :downs:
Generally when a person walks into a room they don't say, "Hey, bitches!" unless they are completely prepared to be disliked. The same goes for online. It's generally rude to curse at people, though there are those of us who are okay with it. It's a good idea to judge the kind of people you're playing with before you whine about getting banned for cursing. It's common courtesy. I mean, I'm fine with cursing, but come on. EDIT As for games which include cursing themselves, I don't really think they should ban for cursing there. And it's true little kids shouldn't be playing rated M games.

Hey shooting a guys head off is one thing but AI think the F word could really hurt children you know. Cause them to be violent.
is profanity even above teen ratings?

I find it funny when people shouts profanity and other swear words at me and I always give them a calm response about how they can't handle me being able to kill them so darn often.
The community I help run only bans racist and sexist stuff and excessive insulting, smack talk is fine but not when it gets out of hand. Swearing however is just fine, there is no real reason to ban it.
Some servers want to keep gameplay serious... But seriously, being like OMFGSWEARER OFFENDER, THERE ARE KIIIDZ! on multiplayer games, that are SHOOTERS and are for ADULT people is as dumb as eating carpet.
Swearing is a form of expression. How will I be able to give moral support with awesome lines like: Let's show these bitches who the boss in this war.

I got perm'd for not saying the N word
ohh, I got perma banned because I wasn't from the right nationality on BFBC2 kinda felt offended that time :(
Yeah, I was permabanned from some game's server when a guy with "green" in their name went and said "damn, this is hard"
Oh poor you, you got banned from a server that is being paid for by a guy who's rules you just broke? That's so unfair! Try hosting a server yourself, and let people swear if that's how you like things. Most of the time, these bans aren't there to protect innocent minds, but to avoid somebody alienating the community by hurling abuse.
