I'd have to say, most of those shoes and shirts you had pictures of were a little too preppy for me, but fuck goddamn I love suits. I sadly have no real place to go in a suit, so I rarely get dressed up. When I find the occasion too I enjoy it though. Suits just make me feel classy. I like the all black one that you posted. The white one is cool too, but white and me just does not mellow.

I used to go to this Catholic School where you had to wear a full suit, tie, everything everyday. I think two years of that acclimated me on how to wear a suit and wear it well.
I love pea coats too.
Especially this one by Camoshita United Arrows, but it's well expensive:

I wish suits were still casual wear, just as they were decades ago, even a century ago I'm sure. Ahh, those were [sp]probably[/sp] the days...

Could you pull that off?

Why does everyone see the early 1900's through rose tinted spectacles?

Because none of us were there to live through it. I'm sure that it would be fine and dandy after 1945 once the economic uprise began and all of the troops returned home

or even in the time between the ending of world war 1 and the beginning of the depression

Na I can't really wear pea coats.
I really liked this superdry one too, when I found it at a concession:

But I just can't carry off the look with one, still like them so much though.
Jeans,t-shirt and a hoodie. Easy.

Well it's not like we lived during the 900s, and no one wants to live THEN. One of the things that I like about it is the way that marketing isn't patronizing, the way the market is aimed at teens today. Radioshack, I think, has a new commercial where they try to be "hip" and "liberal arts college student-ey", while they used to be "funny-ish".
Anyways, having read the first page, I'm seeing a "make your own style" kind of thing versus scope's very limited view of fashion reliant on what the major brands give him. I agree with the first
Surplus stores ftw
itt: butthurt nerds don't like that other people buy designer clothes
Yeah so I got a peacoat for Christmas last year, I think it was Kenneth Cole. I prefer the ones from the surplus
Boots, anyone?
So I ask the OP, master of all clothing
what do you think
You have some sexy shoes.
you can wear suits all the time....
suit truth snipe

Ugh.
Suits are not and never have been casual wear, they are formal wear for work and special occasions. You may see television programs that depict people during that era at work in such formal wear. Nothing was fine and dandy after 1946, people had lost friends and relatives, then you had the period of red scare where everyone was getting anti-communist propaganda, nothing was fine and dandy.
Well that's in a political aspect, and that point of view depends on who you are.

People only wore suits if they were going to work.
[editline]05:22PM[/editline]
Never for casual wear, it's just pretentious prats that try to look trendy by wearing suits and shit as casual wear.

Quoting for truth.
There is a time and a place for suits, though this seems to have been forgotten in the current generation's fashion.

What was "casual" back then? Didn't everyone need to look their best? I thought most people had jobs

Hey, if you just got off work and were hungry, would YOU want to go home to change?
I don't think people in the past ever had more time to waste than we do now, unless they were rich, in which case they would also be wearing suits.
Casual wear in the 1940s for men was generally cardigans, chinos and shirts.

They're at work.
Wait a minute, didn't you guys ever hear how your grandparents considered going to the movies an occasion to wear their best suit? Isn't that casual?
I usually go out with a t-shirt and regular jeans.
Skinny jeans would limit my movement while running, I hate them. I run or jog a lot because every minute I spend getting somewhere is a minute I can spend doing something else. Regular jeans are great, they look good and are usually resistant to lots of wear and tear.
Skinny jeans are fine if you're a girl, because although they rip pretty easily and can't handle lots of movement, they make them asses look great. On guys however...
Anyways if I'm spending $30+ on a shirt it better be goddamn bulletproof. Or the tiny little logo better grant me magical powers. My 2 cents.
