Best of luck to you bro. This is just me, but I could never move away from the good ol USA. I'll move around internally, it'd be just too much for to move to whole different country and I like it here. But just because I couldn't do it doesn't mean you can't!
I would love to live in another country for a year or so, maybe I'll study abroad.
Be sure to say how much you love the government or they'll torture you
I would love to live in another country for a year or so, maybe I'll study abroad.
Contradicting my last post, but I actually would love to live like in Scotland for a year or something. Nothing permanent.
I have to visit Hong Kong every 30 days because of the type of visa I have, Maybe we should go for a drink or something next time I'm in Hong Kong Shiftyze. I love Hong Kong, I'm going to be living in Dong Guan in the Guan Dong province.
You might wanna learn Cantonese too same as Chinese but the way you speak is with 6 tones rather than 4.
Great fucking idea, you'll probably end up becoming friends with other british people there, so there really is no point.
I moved from Ireland to Australia, and it's improved my quality of life tenfold. I hope you have the same experience!
It may take a little while to adapt, especially to their languages, but I wish you the best of luck. :)
Ill tackle one language at a time, Madarin first then maybe Cantonese :) Even though I know most of the westerners out there, I still have to interact with the Chinese every day, even if i just want to go shopping, There are some cute Chinese girls out there too, So if I learn Chinese I dont have to search for the ones that speak English! Neuclear I wouldn't wanna move to scotland myself, Ive been there and the major cities are like the arsehole of the UK, and its colder too. They do have some beautiful smaller towns and villages though. Dont let me stop you though! :)

Where in China are you moving too? Shenzhen?
Hi FP, I'm a 20 yr old Biritsh citizen, I worked in retail and am looking for a better job like alot of other people in the UK. I have been given an amazing opportunity by my Dad to go and live with him and his girlfriend in China so I can work there and hopefully make a future for myself, It's going to be very different from life in the UK, Limited internet access (still get on FP though!), driving will be different, daily language barriers, travel, immense heat and travelling to Hong Kong every 30 days are just a few things I'm going to have to cope with. I leave this Sunday and am looking forward to a new start. Work wise I'm looking at a part time web development job for a British owned pub, Working with my Dad and Laptop/pc repair for the western community over there. I'm looking forward to all 3 jobs. As for travel the local taxi's are really cheap and I plan on using those if my Dad can't give me a lift, I want to learn to drive there because my UK license isn't valid over there but I should just be able to jump straight into both Chinese theory and practical as I can already drive, no lessons needed as such, I'll learn any extras from my Dad. Food is a problem for me over there because I don't like authentic Chinese food, I'll eat the odd dish here and there but luckily there are alot of western resturaunts too ranging from Brazillian, Italian and English cuisine so when we can't be bothered to cook we will go eat out for cheap. So far I have sold my pc to get myself a laptop I can move around depending on the job I'm doing. My room has been re decorated for my sister to have when I leave and currently I'm packing all my clothes I have started a blog for my friends and family to see how things are going over there, I thought a few people on FP might find it interesting so ask me any questions you might have. If this thread is still up by the time I get over there next week I may start posting some experiences in here. Blog: http://simonlazell.tumblr.com/
Have fun man. I myself am moving to Australia for half a year to do an internship there.
I moved to Japan about 3 years ago. I was originally just going one year on a student exchange program, but I didn't want to go home :v: If anyone in this thread are considering studying abroad, and you have the opportunity economically, don't hesitate, do it! If you go, it's pretty much the best/most valuable thing that will ever happen to you.
I'm sure you can still use a proxy like Tor to get on banned sites.
Toss ultrasurf on a USB stick and hide it in your luggage before you go.
I know English, Chinese, Cantonese, ask me if you need help!
Where in China are you moving too? Shenzhen?
Yep, Dong Guan, Guang Dong province!
I know English, Chinese, Cantonese, ask me if you need help!
I might take you up on that offer, for Chinese that is, if by Chinese you mean Mandarin.
Man I know exactly how you feel, this is going to be a great experience! I about 2 years ago decided to camp in my backyard for a night, changed my whole perception on life!
I kind of want to live in another country for longer than a week. I've taken the odd vacation in Canada but that's not really much of a change. Nice there but still. ...maybe I'll vacation in a Spanish speaking country for a while. I already know a fair bit of Spanish, I've pretty much got a good head start there...

I'd love to have an opportunity to move to a different country, especially somewhere in eastern Europe or Scandinavia. I don't see that happening any time soon though.
