if you can't see how offensive and 'negative' that idea is then... I don't even know.

And we are trying to tell you that gender does not lie in physical sex. Therefore yes, if you are a dude, then you are a dude no matter how much shit you do to yourself to change that, including being born with a female sex, and the other way around.
In this situation, we have a female, therefore no matter what physically occurs to her, she is still a female, and she felt the rightful need of actually working on making her body correspond to it.

I'm not a bigot, even if a few posts rubbed you the wrong way. I don't give a fuck what you do with your body and how ya wanna live but I stick by what I was saying bout a dude still being a dude.
If you're still pissy or w.e take it to PM's cause this shit snowballed
Once again you completely failed to define what makes a man a man, which I asked a while ago.
-nesto- you don't realize but every single one of your posts regarding the matter boils down to "it doesn't make me angry/it doesn't affect me so I don't see why it would matter to anyone else let me be a little shit about everything."

Yeah, that attitude right there is what is making you a bigot.

I agree; you don't have to care about every social or political issue out there (if you did you'd never get anything done). At the end of the day, we've only really got the capacity for a certain amount of caring. And you can't care all the time, of course! Because then there would be no time for fun. Or pizza.
But other people are allowed to care about stuff and if you think that's wrong then you're 7 years old
Once again you completely failed to define what makes a man a man, which I asked a while ago.
A load of roles set out by society. That's pretty much the only thing I see as defining either gender which is why I subscribe to neither.
I don't understand people's mindset about this honestly.
Why are we not considered "real?" Because we didn't develop as the sex that we define our gender identity by? Well, there's no way to correct that mistake other than to take hormones and make do with what we have to physically and socially be the right gender. I can't push a reset button and start my life over as a girl. What are we supposed to do? Just say fuck it and go about living our lives in a body that makes us uncomfortable 24/7?

A lot of people (even good people I've noticed) tend to have the mistaken notion that it's all a choice and something we choose to do. They also have difficulty understanding why we can't just choose to accept what we were physically born as.

It is as much of a mindset as it is a conditioned collection of ignorant bullshit. A society is usually identified by a developed quantity of rules and beliefs, and usually the sign of a truly developed society is to have those rules and beliefs be as minimal and unenforced as possible, only enforced enough to prevent direct danger to itself (such as violence, natural disaster, tyranny, corruption, etc)
And it certainly shows that modern societies still have miles and miles of ground to cover.

I am not talking about FP specifically, I am talking about the state of the modern world in general.
It's ridiculous that some of you just won't just grow up and accept that people will always be different. There is no reason for 260 replies in this thread in a few hours.

One of the main reasons for this many replies was damage control, atleast 2/3 of the replies were defending it.

Im skipping a few pages to post this but im just thinking
Youve had no surgeries and take no medication atm, so im assuming you have a knob, but youre a girl cause you say so right?
Thats fucking weird imo
Biggest argument on Facepunch yet.
This is even bigger then most Mass Debate threads

Here we go again. It is fully possible and normal for some girls to be comfortable with male bodies. Having a male body does not give you the obligation or the identification of being an actual male.

There was that other thread in SH, Something to do with transgender and the debate raged on for at least a hundred pages. Just the same people saying the same things over and over.

What makes you a female in mind? Is it liking girly things? I'd think personality's don't have to do with gender.
Well it's getting there

Actually this is pretty mild compared to how most trans related threads end up.
please don't rekindle the debate, can we please debate about something else just for the sake of it
i'll even start it off myself
dolphins are assholes, go
What makes you a female in mind? Is it liking girly things? I'd think personality's don't have to do with gender.
It's really just an identification thing.
You don't have to like specific things or act a specific way to be a girl.

Though nowhere did I say its impossible for them to be uncomfortable, or that he or she is obligated to be a male, just that I find it weird.
To rephrase, be a girl if you want, more power to you, and hell if I found out my gf used to be a dude I'd stay with her, but I find myself feeling somewhat uncomfortable about this
Though nowhere did I say its impossible for them to be uncomfortable, or that he or she is obligated to be a male, just that I find it weird
you could have expressed that in a less overly-judgemental way than 'that's fucking weird imo'
It is not really possible to definitively answer that question, because being a female or a male transcends you liking or disliking certain things.
Currently we are not scientifically aware of what actually makes someone a male or a female, but it is apparent that it is significantly deeper than just liking girly things.
If someone just liked girly things, then it would probably not be torture for them to exist in a body which does not match their gender.

Hmm, I've always considered the body to be the gender and the mind to be androgynous in way. But i guess i can see why some people would be more comfortable as the other sex.

Your combination of words made it sound as if you were indeed quite judgmental of it, thank you for clarifying.

I can definitely say why you would think that, and I can definitely understand why you would think that is more of a personality thing, it is just that certain things show otherwise.
Take this one for example: http://brainz.org/10-psychological-experiments-went-horribly-wrong/
Scroll down to #1: David Reimer
In 1966, when David Reimer was 8 months old, his circumcision was botched and he lost his penis to burns. Psychologist John Money suggested that baby David be given a sex change. The parents agreed, but what they didn’t know was that Money secretly wanted to use David as part of an experiment to prove his views that gender identity was not inborn, but rather determined by nature and upbringing. David was renamed Brenda, surgically altered to have a vagina, and given hormonal supplements — but tragically the experiment backfired. "Brenda" acted like a stereotypical boy throughout childhood, and the Reimer family began to fall apart. At 14, Brenda was told the truth, and decided to go back to being David. He committed suicide at the age of 38.

To be fair it is semi-rude.
Breaking up with a transgender because she can't have children is just another painful reminder of an experience we will never be able to have. If you love her and you two really connect couldn't you two just adopt?
