But big massive rights movement such as MLK and Rosa Parks and various other people kickstarted the whole meaningful slow changes, trans people and genderqueer people need a kickstart to their rights movement too.
That's true, but I hardly see anyone in this thread doing any "massive kickstarting" other than posting in a question thread about a transgender girlfriend. If you were to do something meaningful, you'd have my support.
I'd love to be an ally right next to them too. Transpeople are really fucked over in this world at the moment, they need all the help they can get
I wish I had a girlfriend who used to be a dude.

If you were to do something meaningful, you'd have my support.
One of the most meaningful things you can do is to tell people that transphobia is ok. Right now "Lol trannies are weird" is a perfectly acceptable thing to say, much like in the 80s it was fine to say "Lol faggots are pervs with AIDS" and in the 50s it was a-ok if you wanted to go "Niggers are dumb lol". There's not one switch to fix everything. You can campaign, you can petition, but most of all you can make change happen amongst your friends right now. Educate people about trans folk and let them know what is and isn't ok.
One of the most meaningful things you can do is to tell people that transphobia is ok.
We went about face in all of a few minutes flat. All joking aside, I do tell people that it's wrong to discriminate because someone has different tastes, or a different mindset than themselves. I say to them that if they're happy doing what they do and they don't force it on you if you don't like it, why be hateful? This of course doesn't necessarily change someone's perspective, but it's the very least I can do.
One of the most meaningful things you can do is to tell people that transphobia is ok.
Did you mean isn't? I'd think so judging by your previous posts and the rest of the that post but I wanted to make sure. My irl friends would get their ass reamed for being transphobic or discriminating against anyone unreasonably. Luckily I tend to be really careful with who I choose to be my friends though so I tend not to have to worry about that so much as simply clearing up ignorance in some cases.
My irl friends would get their ass reamed for being transphobic or discriminating against anyone unreasonably.
Ass reaming is hardly a way to reason with people, my dear. :v:
Instead of asking the internet what to do, shouldn't you spend a few more months and evaluate how you feel? Sure, we look good when we tell the OP to "love her regardless of her past gender" but to anybody but a huge saint or one who is very desensitized, it would probably be a rather huge deal. So if several months of it is bearable, perhaps its OK. I would hate to be in your position, OP, since on one hand it might be looked down upon by the liberal crowd (who can't talk because most haven't had this experience) but on the other leaving her behind may make you feel much better. But hey, if you feel the need to break up but don't because you tell yourself its wrong, you are going to make yourself miserable and in the future she will be miserable because she is an unwanted partner.
Ass reaming is hardly a way to reason with people, my dear. :v:
Works just fine with my friends as long as they actually realize they were in the wrong, lol. I try to explain it calmly but I tend to have a really short temper with discrimination though so it ends up being an ass reaming instead. :v:
We have still yet to see any pictures of her..... um, and for all the people rating me dumb... I seriously want to see pictures? I'm not attacking him saying she's not real.
If you have sex with someone who used to be a child, it doesn't make you a pedophile.
That was really #deep. If I ever feel the need to copy paste some meaningful quote onto my Facebook wall, this will be the one.
Well, she may have been a guy, but at least there's still that perfect porn-esque vagina you said she had, which most non-sex changed girls don't have. Why not just go with it? I'm not jealous of that or anything.
I didn't know half the people I've argued with were transgendered. I thought they were just white knights.
people trying to educate me about transgender-ism? fucking white knights!!!
Actually could you describe what her crotch reason looks like in deep detail via PM just so I can like, get a better understanding of your situation? Edit: And could you also have it in the picture where she's looking right at you with an excited expression like she's "ready for anything"?
as someone currently having intense personal debates as to this very topic, I say don't discriminate, OP. If she's a woman now, treat her like a woman. There's nothing to say she's a man, and perhaps, being considered a woman would make her happy. Basically, if she confided this secret to you, that must mean she's got a lot of trust in you, and you should respect that.
I seriously hope you're joking.
he is.
I seriously hope you're joking.
What if he isn't joking?
What if he isn't joking?
then someone has to PM him the details of a sex change operation
then someone has to PM him the details of a sex change operation
I'm pretty sure we could just find him that very graphic video of one.
I'm pretty sure we could just find him that very graphic video of one.
Do you mean the fireaxe one or the cheese grater one.
Do you mean the fireaxe one or the cheese grater one.
No I mean the real video of doctors cutting off parts of the person's penis and making it into a vagina.
No I mean the real video of doctors cutting off parts of the person's penis and making it into a vagina.
So the fireaxe one.
No I mean the real video of doctors cutting off parts of the person's penis and making it into a vagina.
Why did you feel obliged to respond to his joke? [editline]yes[/editline] Excuse me sir, how is this dumb?
um last time I checked transsexuals can't make babby
What a dumb argument. So being able to make babies is a criteria for being a woman? I was born sterile, but i am a woman. His girlfriend is a girl, leave it. She is a pretty damn strong woman for going through the changes she has. She deserves a lot of respect.
Violation, can you not take a harmless joke? [editline]16th September 2012[/editline]
What a dumb argument. So being able to make babies is a criteria for being a woman?
Excuse me sir, how is this dumb?
Just because it's a joke doesn't mean it was a good one. And of all people to respond to over replying to the joke, why did you pick slayer20 rather than someone else who actually took it seriously such as VIOLATION_SNG?
Man, I really cannot seem to wrap my head around which side I'm on here. On paper and posts, I totally respect transgendered people and don't really think it should get in the way of anything, and I wish it wasn't a fucking social stigma for people to be who they want to be. I'm sure if the person was willing to tell me about a life they had spent so much money to get rid of than I must be important to them, and I would hate to break that. Plus they wouldn't go wave around something that could get them ridiculed if they didn't know they were in good hands. On the other side of the spectrum, it always unsettles me a little when looking at a girl that used to be a boy and vice versa. I guess I've never really been around a transgendered person (that I know of) and I'm a bit unsure on how to act. I'm all for gay rights [sp]and quite frankly bisexual chicks are hot[/sp] so I don't understand what makes me a bit hesitant looking at these pictures.
OP, as other people have said, it's really up to you. My advice is first and foremost, don't listen to others. Just think about it yourself instead: Does this affect this girl for me? Don't think about what other people will think about you, but what you will think about it. I've never been in such a long relationship, so I don't really know how I would take such a thing.
Ok i'm just going to say that the only difference between a cisgender woman and a transwoman is that a transwoman's female sex organs are either artificial or not their at all. Imo that doesn't stop them from being actual women... but scientifically speaking they're not true physiological females, because as I said the sex organs that define a physiological female are either artificial or not their at all on a transwoman Anyway, as long as a transwoman looks like a woman I don't really care
What a dumb argument.
