This.
Hey guys I saw this thread on /b/ maybe if I replicate it on FP I'll be witty and original.
op: small things amuse small minds

A game costs 1 dollar plus 1/2 its price. It costs 1 dollar. the problem in itself is dumb because it gives you the answer and then tries to add onto it.
1 + 0.5n = n
1 = 0.5n
2 = n
$2
Would the answer be infinite due to the undefined variables, and the limitless combinations of numbers and values you can put together?
Look at post above me.
The answer is Kill yourself.

oh u so cool
Talking about puzzles, here's a kind of similar one:
A new console comes out and is sold with a game in a bundle that you can buy for $240. Actually, there is no advantage from buying the bundle at all, as you can buy the console and the game separately for the same price. Knowing that the console costs $200 more than the game, how much does the game cost?

The answer is $2. It's not 1.50. It's not undefined or unsolvable.
$1 + ($2/2)
=>
$1 + $1 = $2.
Or if you want to get all mathematical:
Price = x
x = 1 + (x/2)
x - (x/2) = 1
(2x / 2) - (x / 2) = 1
(x / 2) = 1
x = 2
Yes, anyone who thinks it's unsolvable dosen't know simple algebra.

The 4th line in that equation is incorrect since it involves divison by a-b, which is zero due to a being equal to b. Nice try.
Here's the answer, although I'm probably late.

There is no answer. No one ever said that 1$ is the half price. Game can cost any number of $/2 + 1
There is no answer. No one ever said that 1$ is the half price. Game can cost any number of $/2 + 1
No..
Let's say the game costs $20:
What's half of $20? It's $10.
So if they game now costs $1 + half its price (= $10) then we get $ 11.
$11 ≠ $20
It's an equation. There's only one answer and it is 2.
it is funny how deep people go for such a stupid question
you guys got trolled

The replies were more stupid than the question. :v: If anything, this thread was informative, it shows that the majority of the FP population can't do simple math.

Too bad it's a simple math question that most people fell for, and it dosen't even go that deep into algebra.
$1 + half its price = $0 because I illegally downloaded it off the internet lolololololoollolo
If it's made by Activision then fuck algebra, make it $60.

ITT: People are rated dumb because the OP thinks everyone is bad at linear functions.
1 + (0.5*P) = P
1 + 0.5 * P = P
1 + 0.5 = P / P
No Answer as 1 + 0.5 =/= 1
