Standing on my front deck, looking north towards the city, the sky is blue, with clouds to the northwest.
Peoples houses are getting flooded on a day that could be an average summer day
Its horrific what mother nature can do
Too be honest i don't believe our Prime Minister is doing anything. Fuck Julia Gillard.
Apart from pledging the full support of the ADF and announcing $25 000 grants to affected small businesses?
I live about an hour south of all this and was planning on moving to Brisbane before the end of the month for uni. Was going to be looking at houses there tomorrow but a lot of them are currently underwater. Can't even get there anyway as they're shutting down the trains. It's all just terrible, donated $20 today.
Can't believe people are actually looting evacuated homes, what a bunch of low-lives.
Flood area is bigger than Germany and France.
One of my very good friends is in Brisbane right now :ohdear:
I'm in brisbane.. on the west side though, doubt it will reach here but my sister lives in the city and she's been evacuated.
Australia's a pretty financially stable country ; she can look after herself.
Consider Pakistan. It was flooded a while back, with 21 million Pakistanis being affected.
These are same people who farms for a living, with >73% living on less than $2 a day. And the floods also uprooted more than 1.7 million acres of farmland.
Even though this was a while back, I'm pretty sure they're still in desperate need of aid, just that it's mostly overlooked.
:((
Quick, jump into your parents pouches, drink fosters and wrestle alligator's.

Agreed.
People squabble over their line in the queue for McDonalds, meanwhile 6 children die in Africa. Zero fuck given in the Western world.

:( Poor Africa, wish I was a rich guy.

While this partly true, donations can only help maintain the standing of living we've had. Some people have lost everything - and just because the rest of the country is doing okay is no reason not to donate.
I just threw in a $20
I dont get it. In WA were getting fires and heat, and like no rain. What the fuck.
