Huh? Why so many "Disagree"? Well, maybe you are all from China... and you all have to get a permission from some officials before you post...
99% of internet is "unofficial", that's what makes it great.
Wrong definition of official.
Wrong definition of official.
Internet is full of user-created content. Under what definition such content is "official"?
Internet is full of user-created content. Under what definition such content is "official"?
Official markup language, connection protocol, other shit like that.
Internet is full of user-created content. Under what definition such content is "official"?
There are 7 layers between you and the physical cables connecting you to the internet. Each layer is built on a foundation of standards compliance, so that every computer in the world can understand them. Despite the ad-hoc nature of user created content, everything used to create, transfer and display it to you is running on standards that have been established for over 20 years.
Official markup language, connection protocol, other shit like that.
I don't mean protocols, I mean *content*. Like posts in this thread. Under what definition the posts in this thread are "official"?
I don't mean protocols, I mean *content*. Like posts in this thread. Under what definition the posts in this thread are "official"?
It doesn't seem like you're going to get it, please just stop...
Despite the ad-hoc nature of user created content, everything used to create, transfer and display it to you is running on standards that have been established for over 20 years.
Yeah, I use standard computer keyboard. Do you think that fact makes the content of my posts more official?
No but if your keyboard was an "APNG" keyboard and decided it was going to send letters in a different order you wouldn't be able to use it with someone else's computer.
Yeah, I use standard computer keyboard. Do you think that fact makes the content of my posts more official?
It makes the content of your post shit.
There is no limit in the Web specifications to the graphical formats that can be used on the Web.
There is no limit in the Web specifications to the graphical formats that can be used on the Web.
what the fuck are you talking about
There is no limit in the Web specifications to the graphical formats that can be used on the Web.
These guys beg to differ [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international community that develops standards to ensure the long-term growth of the Web.

There is no limit in the Web specifications to the graphical formats that can be used on the Web.
oh my god
These guys beg to differ [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
Really? It's a direct quote from them: http://www.w3.org/Graphics/
Really? It's a direct quote from them: http://www.w3.org/Graphics/
You just need a MIME type so that the format is labelled correctly for transfer across the Web, and so that a suitable viewer (if one exists) can be located at the other end.
yes and you missed the rest of the quote
You just need a MIME type so that the format is labelled correctly for transfer across the Web, and so that a suitable viewer (if one exists) can be located at the other end.
You can't just randomly declare a filetype and expect it to work. [editline]24th June 2011[/editline] God dammit CarlBooth.
Yeah, Firefox is a suitable viewer, so no there is no problem with APNG.
Yeah, Firefox is a suitable viewer, so no there is no problem with APNG.
The folks behind PNG pretty much consider APNG a bastard child and don't quite support it. They say to use MNG, the non-redheaded child.
It was implemented in Firefox before it was ratified by the PNG Group They have since rejected the proposal.
It's kinda funny how a direct quote from w3 is labelled "Dumb x 4", don't you think? :)
ITT: Image file formats I thought this thread was supposed to be about the forums, apparently I didn't get the memo
It's kinda funny how a direct quote from w3 is labelled "Dumb x 4", don't you think? :)
Quotes are dumb when taken out of context.
You've got it set to clear cookies [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
Nope, checked.
The folks behind PNG pretty much consider APNG a bastard child
Well, I'm glad they are not kings of internet. The format is open, and it allows third-party extensions. They made it that way.
