I'm more worried about people I know from RL finding my E-persona, rather than some weirdo-fuckhead serial killer.
This, I would die if my RL friends read what I say on the internet, only one person I know in RL actually uses FP.
I try to keep myself hidden as much as possible as of late; before, I didn't care to much, but now that I'm 18, older, and will most likely actually be going out into the public world, I need to watch what I say more often and what gets tracked to me where. In fact, the whole next generation of celebrities will be able to tracked down by their old internet aliases, saying stupid shit. The next Johnny Depp could be a /b/tard. :v:
Only to 4chan.
When you're finished with school and college and have to work for a living it may be a problem if your employers find out about your drunk nights with horses and goats and your habit of doing illegal drugs at the weekend. Especially if you have what's considered to be a responsible job like teaching, or being a medic.
i'm responsible
Yeah, my mom called me Arc Nova a couple days ago, i was never more embarrassed in my life
Dunno really, the internet as always had peoples personal details and shit. You used to swap floppies with people over the bbs boards, still the same today i guess but more advanced.
We've already lost it. inb4 mods post my IP
I wouldn't mind not losing it.
Goddamn
Do you really fear now someone based on that info is going to come bump in the night anymore and rape you or something?
Someone comes near me, I'LL be the one doing the raping.
The Internet is not anonymous. If someone really wants to find out about someone, they can.
Never put my last name or image on the internet. I'm paranoid about all that.
same here :tinfoil:
Worse that will happen here is someome making fun of you
I'm scared that the feds will catch me downloading off of the Ninja Lagoon.
Depends where. On FP my guilty pleasures are relatively tame, but on other sites I happen to indulge in fandoms which I seriously do not want anyone I know IRL to know about.
In my opinion the internet should be an anonymous place, I like it this way.
Since I plan to join the Army and then the Police force, my anonymity is important to me. They don't need to know my political ideals.
Unlike some people here, a lot of people I know in RL actually know I'm a member of pretty much everywhere. A few of them, for example, are member of FacePunch and go to my school - same grade, same classes. On the contrary to this, there are some sites, for example 4chan, where keeping anonymity is paramount. There's way too much bullshit on places like that to give your details out in full.
I'm more worried about people I know from RL finding my E-persona, rather than some weirdo-fuckhead serial killer.
Agreed. I say some pretty weird shit on the internet.
I don't mind people knowing who I am a lot of the time and it's easy to find out really from most of my stuff on the webz, but if anonymity is taken away completely, how on earth am I supposed to troll RP servers and vent channels?
90% of facepunch consists of caucasian young adults anyways so it's no surprise for the most part
I'm Asian, i'm 10% of Facepunch :buddy:
I'd happily post my own address on the internet.
I don't want to be shamed by having people know what sites I specifically visit.
I don't mind not being anonymous as long as it's on sites I don't mind not being anonymous :v: Or else I would not write my name in my videos
pff, im not that anonymous on facebook
I gave my address to a guy in Germany once. He's still in my house after several months. :) I also voted no.
I don't care because I have nothing to hide.
The only thing I'm worried about is that some nerds can simply rage so hard when you own them. My friend was kicking some guy's ass on World of Warcraft, that guy said that he was going to hunt my friend down and see if he was so tough IRL too.
Who wants my phone number?
Yes, I don't want anyone finding out who I am on the internet.
