Well, I've been thinking about this since the internets and other similar mediums of technology are intertwining with our lives at a quicker pace. Do you really fear losing anonymity on the internet anymore? Now, of course I'm not saying you shouldn't worry about giving away your address, zip code, Social Security number, etc. But just the general amount of now how you can join a live conversation on tinychat that's hosted by someone here and give away your image. Or you know the post pictures of yourself threads in fast threads. Or even when you play online games with a voice chat feature. Do you really fear now someone based on that info is going to come bump in the night anymore and rape you or something? With the internet, social networking and real life coming so close together nowadays, do you really fear anyone having the mentality of physically or otherwise harming you? I just thought this would be a good discussion topic, I will also post a poll with this.
Anybody who wants to find me, will find me using other methods, if they can't through the internet. I see it as a good thing, as it would be far easier to track down criminals.
I'm worried about people being able to waltz in and find out all my creepy fetishes.
Give out your bank details just to prove your not scared via PM:3: And you forget your email milzdoly at aol dot com And your mum Alison told me to do your homework
Tru dat. Anyway, I had a rather nice chat some someone via text, so giving out my number has only been a good thing so far.
Everyone on facepunch can know who I am, I have nothing to hide. However, when it comes to sites where retaining anonymity is a good thing IE: Porn sites, 4chan, torrent sites, health sites where you can ask why your dick is so small, etc.
My full name is already slathered all over the internets thanks to Valve. :v:
Online anonymity has always been a bit of a joke. It's very trivial to get information like an IP; the internet wasn't built with anonymity in mind. Though there will always be ways to spoof your information so those that really care won't have to worry.
no
I enjoy people not knowing exactly who I am. I like keeping my internet life and my social life separate.

Spam in OIFY and they'll help you lose it. Or actually, don't. Voted no, I have nothing to hide.
Biggest thing I have a problem with is I don't want people knowing what I'm downloading, or the porn I watch. Well really a lot of stuff I do on the internet I don't wanna anyone to know.

They have to take your ISP to court to get it normally.
It's about losing freedom, more than revealing information about yourself.
My parents were all like OMG U PUT YOU LIVE EN ARIZONA ON THERE!!! Nobody wants to kidnap and rape a six one one seventy five seventeen year old, fuckers.

No.
I suppose I'm a different person online than I am in life. I'm more withdrawn in real life whereas I'm a slightly different person online. I voted yes.
