Well that looked fucking nuts
Well. Uhh. Neat.
From that trailer it seems that it's not a hand held camera movie anymore. thank goodness.
Wait, is this one in English? I'd never gotten around to seeing the older ones because of the fact that something was simply off putting about sticking to the subtitles. The trailer is making it seem as if it's an American (or, at the least, English language) movie straight and through.
I'm pretty sure it's just the movie being re released in English. REC 3 came out ages ago elsewhere.
I'm pretty sure it's just the movie being re released in English. REC 3 came out ages ago elsewhere.
Yup. Was released March/April in Spanish.
Yup. Was released March/April in Spanish.
This is my first time hearing about it. Hell, I loved the first two. I'll definitely nab a copy of this.
Actually kinda glad they're going with a different style this time round. Keeping it somewhat fresh series-wise but doing it old school horror style. I'm just worried about the actual sequel to REC 2 they're planning since [sp]it'll probably be apocalypse scenario what with the demon/devil getting out of containment.[/sp] This is the only horror series in a long time I've been fully happy with.
so uh is this the spanish or english version? seems spanish cause there wasn't any dialogue in the trailer. honestly it looks a bit whacky. [editline]19th July 2012[/editline] i was one of those people who liked REC 1 just as much as 2 but this is to much
Read a few posts above you.
Ok I gave it a watch and it had that classic feel you get with a lot of horrors where they don't seem to explore things as much as they could/should have. They elaborate on the whole infection bullshit a little more but then instantly drop it, as if they put the idea in your head but never explain it and not in a good "it's up to your own interpretation" way either. Overall the story was highly contained with minor relation to 1 and 2 but I feel like this was almost a side project and not technically part of the series. Ironically it begins with camera footage and then transitions just as the title sequence comes on. The transition had a very interesting feel at first but then it's as if the movie totally changed in atmosphere eventually and not really in a good way.

Question though for those that have watched it [sp] during the scene when Kaldo gets to the control room theres a TV on in the background, its mostly blurred but it looked like the news report from [REC] where shes with the firemen and they go to a building, or a news report from outside of it. Which would correlate with the apocalypse stuff it all started at the same time roughly [/sp] Would definitely recommended it to those that watched the first 2 and enjoyed them.

The apocalypse scenario will only occur in REC 4 and anything that happens outside during REC 2 is completely undocumented. I am thoroughly impressed how they elaborated on the timescale of this whole series so far, it's a little thing but it definitely goes a long way. My only beef is there's no true elaboration as to how the infection left the apartment complex. Yeah, the dog bit the Uncle but how did the dog manage to get IN to the apartment to get bitten then live to get back out?[/sp]

[/sp]

[/sp]
[sp]Not from what I recall. Up till now the infection is caused via the demon which was contained in that apartment complex and the Vatican has no record of any other kind of demonic activity in that area. They fully confirm she is the one controlling all of the infected so there can't possibly be another demon controlling the hive mind. I think REC 3 was almost a lucky outbreak, if she had planned to infect that dog on purpose then she probably would've directly possessed one of the infected whilst that priest was freezing them all like she did in REC 2. That or maybe she isn't powerful enough to directly control one outside of a certain area[/sp]
First 2 rec movies were great, but this isn't even continuing that story. I am dissapointed.
First 2 rec movies were great, but this isn't even continuing that story. I am dissapointed.
It's a prequel with a contained story that elaborates ever so slightly on some plot points. I don't see how you can be disappointed unless you're one of those people who think the movie should be a highly specific way even though trailers etc quite clearly portray it as otherwise. Wait for the sequel to REC 2 for continuation on the main story.
The whole [sp]demon stuff ruined the movies. It'd be a lot better if the concept was about an outbreak, not a demon causing it. But oh well. Rec 3 was alright, I enjoyed it. [/sp]
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed this. It was pretty bad, yeah. But like, enjoyable bad. Almost 'evil dead'y, but not quite. Then again I didn't like the first two films, they were sloppy and not even remotely scary so they pretty much had nothing left to offer.

[/sp]
Are you fucking with me? [sp]The generic viral outbreak concept sucks balls, the fact its a demon introduces all sorts of potential mind fucks and they did that just right with REC 2 at the end.[/sp]

But a viral outbreak seems a lot more realistic and there's a chance it might happen in real life, but a demon doesn't exist so yeah. [/sp]

I'm not religious therefore the concept of demons is stupid BECAUSE they aren't real and I will automatically think any movie that has them are shitty?[/sp] I guess the Evil Dead series sucks balls in your opinion then?
The story is.
Because all horror movies must have a deep intricate story full of emotionally engaging characters.
Because all horror movies must have a deep intricate story full of emotionally engaging characters.
Emotionally? Characters? I am talking about how dumb it is to make demons real in a movie. Demons are religious characters (Christian, Muslim, etc.) and an Atheist would find the demonic/spirit concept silly.

I don't believe in god at all and the idea doesn't phase me, it's not like a big thing I think about when I watch a horror movie. They're plot devices and nothing more. Exploring the mythos and how that affects the story is what makes some movies intriguing.
i watched it on TV the other day i loved it, i kind of liked the first one because the fireman is fucking awesome

Exploring the mythos and how that affects the story is what makes some movies intriguing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon My point is actually this; I don't really feel affected by supernatural horror films and I find them rather silly. A supernatural being (demon, something that can never exist) is a turn-off for me. But if it's a realistic horror movie, then it's a great movie. Whatever floats your boat, though.
so you prefer biological experiments gone haywire and all that nonsense. like radiation turning fauna into horribly mutated and dangerous life forms in a matter of years. i dunno, what you say seems contradictory because most things in horror movies simply don't exist, and many more things that happen in horror movies simply aren't possible. you need some kind of suspension of disbelief to really engage in horror movies. if you are as level headed as you think you are. i don't think that just because something is debunked doesn't mean it has lost its value in story telling. i think there's just a lack of quality religious based horror. also you can't say the exorcist wasn't at least a tiny bit scary.
