Who else gets a hardon at the sight of Paul Gilbert playing?
Holy shit that is beautiful Where how to get what
That particular model costs 9,500$ But this ESP model costs costs 6,000$ Specs BODY : (Top) Hard Maple (Back) Alder NECK : Hard Maple 3P FINGERBOARD : Maple(Black Paint), 21frets INLAY : jeune fille SCALE :648mm (Long) NUT : Lock Nut (42mm/R2) JOINT : Bolt-on TUNER : GOTOH SG360-07 BRIDGE : Floyd Rose PICKUP : EMG 81 CONTROL : Master Volume COLOR : Matt Black And here is the same, but it's and Edwards Model. Edwards is like LTD in japan. Now this costs only 1,600$ Specs BODY : (Top) Hard Maple (Back) Alder NECK : Hard Maple 3P FINGERBOARD : Maple(Black Paint), 21frets INLAY : jeune fille SCALE : 648mm (Long) NUT : Lock Nut (42mm/R2) JOINT : Bolt-on TUNER : GOTOH SG360-07 BRIDGE : Floyd Rose PICKUP : EMG 81 CONTROL : Master Volume COLOR : Matt Black There is almost no change to the equipment of the guitar except it's an Edwards, not an ESP. So you basically get almost same quality guitar as the original ESP model hell of a lot cheaper.
That is one of the oddest guitars I've ever seen. I have this amp, got it with my first guitar: I'm getting this:
My guitars. Epiphone Casino w/ Bigsby Overview (pre Casino) Rickenbacker 330/12, Some shit broken classical, some shit broken LP copy, some shit broken Strat copy. Also, Orange Crush 30R (Getting a Vox soon though) and some effects stuff. More Ric
Is the lp copy a guild?
I currently have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus (Heritage Cherry Sunburst I believe) A lefthanded version that is. And a VOX VT15, not such a bad tone for a budget amp And I want one of these goddamnit! However, if you like a little more "dialed back" style, go immediately for the fender champion 600. (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Champion-600-5-Watt-1x6-Combo-Amp?sku=485054&src=3WFRWXX&ZYXSEM=0&CAWELAID=44097308) there's only one control (a volume knob). If you keep it at 1-2, it'll give a nice clean, but if you start cranking the knob you'll get a sweet blues burn. It's a similar price point to the valvetronix; 250 for the fender as opposed to the 200 (i think) for the vox. If anyone here wants to start off with blues/rock guitar and wants a kick ass amp its this one.
trust me the valvetronix is gonna start disappointing you a about a year into buying it (probably less). if you play heavy metal and shit i guess its a good choice for the time being.
You got that backwards? I have actually used that amp, and it is beautiful. The thing has great cleans, it is good for anything from Pink Floyd, to AC/DC. What the standard valvetronix series lacks in IS metal. The Valvetronix XL series fixes this. The only thing you really need to be sure of is to at least get the 30watt models or bigger with the valvetronix series, or you're getting ripped off.
when i bought mine (vox) i slowly realized that the distortion models sounded like shit past the "nu metal" setting, after which it sounded like a muddy mess. as for cleans, almost any amp can produce an acceptable clean, and most produce good cleans, but the fender produces a fender clean. [editline]08:08PM[/editline] also i dont remember being too impressed by the xl, considering the price point was fifty dollars more than the standard. truth be told i thought the vox was a decent starter amp, but if you want something that you'll enjoy longer (and if you're a new guitarist and just starting to appreciate tone), snag the fender.
You hit the nail on the head. I'm just confused as to why you said it was a good choice for the time being (since he wants to play metal). It is one of the best starter amps around in my opinion.
I've had four guitars in the time I've been playing, which is prolly 4 - 5 years. My first was a shitty Harley Benton Les Paul. See how the wax has starten to bubble up and crack on the head stock. My second guitar was an LTD-MH100QM. It was pretty good guitar for a beginner, but the FL bridhe started to piss me off and I sold it for 400€, when I got for a bargain on 200€. :clint: My third guitar was a Schecter Omen-7, which I still use to this day mostly. It's an awesome piece of wood. And my fourth and most recent guitar is this Parker P44, cost about 800€ and it's worth every penny. The sound is incredible, it's really light, the fingerboard is slick and you can move pretty fast on it and it has a Piezo rigged bridge. So it can make very authentic acoustic sound. I might buy another guitar sometime when I get enough money.
I bought a cool acoustic recently and have been taking guitar lessons for a week. I'm proud of the progress I've made, playing guitar is easier than I thought. I'm happy!
fucking awesome guitar!
Skull Strings are awesome for 7-string guitars.
OMFG someone else who knows of skull strings, i got a set of em with ma guitar, they are sweet as fuck. Only place i know that sells em is GAK. I'm using shitty rotosounds just now, and i think they are 10 - 46 :s fucking wierd. Gonna get elixer 10s next time though.
If anyone is starting out on guitar and is looking for an amp, I own a line 6 spider and it has been great for the 3 years that I've had it, but some of the on-board effects like the distortion aren't really pedal quality, so I'd invest in a nice pedal when the time is right.
speaking of strings, has anyone tried the new titanium ernie balls? They're twice as much as normal, I wonder if they're worth it
I own a line 6 spider
lol
No one buy a Line 6 spider, get a roland cube if you must get a a transistor amp, but really you should go for a valve amp unless you're poor or something.
Can anyone here recommend me a valve amp for around £200 for bedroom use? I play a bit of everything, not normally that heavy.
No one buy a Line 6 spider
I thought everyone knew this by now. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Valve-Jr-HalfStack?sku=481475 Even though it's only 5 watts, since it is a tube amp it will sound quite loud. It will fill up your room, and then some. A lot of people use them for practice and church jams. And if you're looking to get a nice mod amp, this is probably one of the most modded amps out there. All kinds of mod kits available for different sounds and shit. This amp is a VERY nice practice amp. Without modding, it's good for anything from Jazz to hard rock. With modding, your possibilities get even better.
I am so sick and tired of not having an amp. It's fucking pointless, playing an electric guitar without an amp is like jacking off without porn. Sure, you can do it, but you're missing half the experience.

Also, I see there is a combo amp version. This seems cheaper, but what are the disadvantages?
I've had my Fender Starcaster for 6 months, which is exactly how long I've been playing. I need a new one, badly, but I'm fucking poor. What do you guys think would be the BEST cheapest guitar?

Holy shit those are cheap.
Indeed they are, and I've heard very good things about them. A mate of mine used to work at the Tanglewood import place, got me my LP-style one for even cheaper.
