I think I might get this guitar by the end of '09.
Any thoughts?
The Phil Demmel Jackson?
Not a good idea unless you want to play seriously heavy material, or have your neck reset all the time
It COMES with a set of .011's I think.
Machine Head is some seriously heavy shit, so I don't know if I'd want one for average playing.
It's GREAT if you want to play lots of detuned metal though.
I'm also thinking of customizing an old MiM strat I bought off a friend for cheap. Already ordered the Lace Alumitone pups, whaddya think?
God damn, what's the wattage on that thing?
If you're asking about the 5150, it's 60. Although, it sounds at least double that. Ask any 5150 owner, it's a fucking beast.
Unfortunately, yes, it is a Marshal Mega Gay. Of course, it's only a little practice amp, so I don't really mind if it's great or not. The 5150 is the only thing I'd ever record, so have no fear.
Ah good man. Now go find the guy who sold it to you and kick him in the balls.
Steve Vai always amazes me.

Dunlop Cry Baby and Dunlop MXR Phase 90

Strongly disagree, fucking hate those designs

That's a great hollowbody.

Just bought it or is something wrong with the whammy?
The Epiphone ES335 is really nice for blues and jazz and the like, I've played one before and the only complaint I had was the size of it, but I'm so used to playing tiny electrics and whatever.
By the by, anyone here have a Fender jazzmaster? I'm getting a new guitar, and I've had my eye on this one since I started playing 3 years ago.

I guess the foam is still on it.

The FirstAct VE591 is a fantastic guitar for the price ($500-$600 CAD). It has a built-in preamp so you can plug it in to a car stereo, a computer, headphones, etc, and still get a smooth bluesy tone, and a crisp, clean tone. But that's not all! Switch the EQ to Distortion and you can even play some hard rock and killer metal. I still love it.

I've been to FirstAct in Boston where they make their stuff. I played this green star guitar among other sick designs, it was great.
i got a question. is it possible to amplify my acoustic guitar through my pc so it comes out louder on the speakers? im thinking of putting it next to a mic or something.
I guess you can do it using a Line6 Toneport, although you'd best us an element for your acoustic guitar.
Something like this: http://www.thomann.de/be/fishman_matrix_infinity_narrow_pro_man.htm?sid=fe6afb431ea9be3939cc5a3a20d3cb10
i dont want to buy fancy shit to do this. i want to know if its possible to do it with just a mic and a pc program
Yeah sure, you wanna do it using your line-in? But anyway, it's probably going to suck ape-balls.

i dont really care about the quality, im just asking to see if its possible.
so i got my acoustic and have started to learn to play. Currently mastering quick changes between chords. I plan on getting a stratocaster soon once iove stuck with it for a while..

It works if you put the mic up to where you're playing, but not too far away

fender strats (dunno about squier) are great, you can play any style (apart from maybe the heaviest of metal) on one and it will sound great. i don't want to get my own guitar because i love my dad's 70s strat that he's given me until i get my own
edit:
in fact that's why my dad got it originally. he played in a metal band in the 80s, but he played other stuff too when he wasn't doing band stuff, so he got a guitar that played good and sounded good no matter what he played on it.

You can play some Death Metal or whatever on a strat, I've seen the guitar player from Nile doing it.
Just started playing my Jazz bass through a TS-9 and into an AVT50, such a bloody great sound, better than you'd expect for using a bass in a guitar amp and really thickens the lower end

Wintersun.
Jari plays on a motherfucking Telecaster.
And makes that shit look cooler than we'll ever be.

You said it.
It's more important what type of amp you play.

And how well you can control your own tone.
And that your pickups aren't total shit.
That's more of your tone than you think it is right there.
Especially the part where you're keeping control of your tone.
When it comes to sound, your amp is more important than your guitar.
If you had to buy a new amps and guitar and had around a $1,000 budget, you would want to spend more on the amp.
That's how a lot of shops sell those cheap-o guitars to newbies. They'll hook em up to a good amp.

Yep, and you can get a decent guitar for around 200$, something like a Yamaha Pacifica, or London City Comet. Or secondhand, Richwood before they were forced by Fender to produce crappy stuff :v:
I started with bass a couple of months ago, bought it from my brother
A cheap fender jazz-copy
I really want a Fender Precision

That's nice!
I have a pretty cheap Washburn bass, but I love the color, and it sounds pretty decent. Not planning on upgrading, rather spend my money on concerts and stuff for my guitar :v:
