Ah, I see. So, any brands that I should keep an eye on and brands I should stay away from?
You might find brands like Epiphone to be useful, they make some great guitars and they're relatively cheap.
I've always heard that a good guitar is an expensive guitar
Completely wrong. It depends on whether YOU like it. I got my LTD Viper for $400, which isn't expensive for a guitar. It sounds AMAZING. Go to a guitar shop and try out guitars that you like. Maybe you'll find a good guitar that's $300. If you like a guitar, but is rediculously expensive, find it on musiciansfriend.com. They have new guitars for cheap, and ship free.
Agh, I wish I had my camera for this thread. Also, i'm thinking of taking my grade 8 this summer, any advice?
I want an acoustic guitar so very badly :( Everything I write sounds 20 times better on one
Ah, I see. So, any brands that I should keep an eye on and brands I should stay away from?
Greg Bennett (aka. Samick) They're just AWESOME for the price you pay, way better than Corts. The Torino series (SG-lookalike), once you get it set up properly is perfect. Especially the arch-top TR4 I have Looks better than an SG too And this is an Avion, a LP copy Sorry for "advertising" them, but they get way too overlooked on the low-price market. I could get either a Squier Affinity, or that TR4 (for basically the same price). I see shitloads of LTD's, Squiers, Corts, and none of these sweet guitars
Ah, I see. So, any brands that I should keep an eye on and brands I should stay away from?
Yamaha is usually a safe bet, at least with electrics. I'd imagine you can get a good quality accoustic for fairly cheap.
LP Black Beauty. As Adrian Smith demonstrates, Touching one makes you Cum. <3 Adrian Smith. <3 Black Beauties.
Anyone bother answering me? What's better, Jackson Dinki or Dean MLX?

^ Adrian Smith has said his Favourite Guitar is a "Black Beauty". I trust his opinion about his own guitar more than yours I'm afraid.
Anyone bother answering me? What's better, Jackson Dinki or Dean MLX?
Get the Jackson if you're a bad enough dude to handle the Floyd Rose bridge.
I have one of these. It doesn't exactly suit me, I play mostly metal. Although this does put out a decent distorted tone through a nice amp. Hopefully I'm going to get myself a nice ESP electric.
Although this does put out a decent distorted tone through a nice amp.
lol
Get the Jackson if you're a bad enough dude to handle the Floyd Rose bridge.
I really don't see a problem with the Floyd Rose, it's perfect for my style of playing, then again I go psycho on the whammy bar...
my generic strat copy sucks ass
Fuck it I want one of those Epiphone G400's sooo badly, anyone else have one?
Anyone bother answering me? What's better, Jackson Dinki or Dean MLX?
Straight up answer: Jackson. [editline]01:29AM[/editline] Everyone I have decided to not get the SL2H Soloist. It's just too much money to put into a guitar that I'm not even sure I'll carry on liking after I buy it. I definitely still want a jackson, and after testing LOADS of guitars today in denmark street (for anyone not familiar, denmark street is a small but legendary street in London that is made up of about 10 guitar shops, a couple of other instrument shops, one music bookshop and a cafe. very cool) I've decided that I really like the V or Rhoads sort of shape, I don't know why anyone says they're uncomfortable. So I'll probably get this: I played an SL2H in a shop today and they only had it in snow white, and I'm beginning to really like white guitars, especially with a set neck. And the light maple necks with the black inlays are really growing on me. alternatively I'd get this Also saw this an a shop today: Super epic. I could get that actually. I wish I'd tested it.
I got screwed out of my PRS! So instead I got this; From the same guy. :neckbeard:
i want to pick up bass just so i can use an instrument like this.
I know, if I could get any bass I wanted, I definitely get a 4003...
Fuck it I want one of those Epiphone G400's sooo badly, anyone else have one?
I bought one from my guitar teacher, it's a great guitar.

That is so hot... I love the RR-shape with the Jackson head. It looks so evil.
^ It is very sexy. Prefer the white one personally. I'd quote but we don't need to spam the page with pictures of the same guitar.
Ah, I see. So, any brands that I should keep an eye on and brands I should stay away from?
very good relatively cheap brands are Takamine, Washburm and some Ibanez for acoustics. I've been playing for about 5 years and my Washburn D10 works just fine. It RRPs for about $400-$450 AUS, and it's still a very good guitar.
I have one of these. It doesn't exactly suit me, I play mostly metal. Although this does put out a decent distorted tone through a nice amp. Hopefully I'm going to get myself a nice ESP electric.
You should never play metal on an acoustic, it's not designed like that. The smart thing to do would have been to analyze what you wanted to play and made a purchase accordingly. Also, a bit of advice, for electrics and more specifically metal, I find Jacksons and Ibanezs are better than ESPs.
Thinking about getting one of these now: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/78308 Thoughts?
Thinking about getting one of these now: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/78308 Thoughts?
Vox amps are generally good quality, but 150 pounds seems a bit much for a 30 watt amp.
Vox amps are generally good quality, but 150 pounds seems a bit much for a 30 watt amp.
That's bullcrap. I paid €400 for my Tiny Terror, which is only 15 watt. Just play it and see if it's worth the money :v:
I was about to say, £150 is actually quite good money as far as I know.
Vox amps are generally good quality, but 150 pounds seems a bit much for a 30 watt amp.
No, that's about the right price for a 30-watt tube amp. Never been a big fan of modeling amps but to each their own.
Thing is, I'd get a tube amp, but I'd rather have the versitality. Also, the Vox contains a valve in it's preamp so it feels a lot like playing an tube amp.
I've always heard that a good guitar is an expensive guitar
Not necessarily. You can get a cheaper guitar, stick some hot-rod pickups in it, and have the same sound as an expensive name brand.
