I've always heard that a good guitar is an expensive guitar
The Pick-ups, Amp, and Pedals to a lesser degree are the main factors in a good guitar. If you bought a £1200 Guitar with Bad Pickups, and compared it to a Guitar what was running on Good Pickups for £600, the £600 one would be better. I'm out of date on Pricing though, so take that as an hypothetical situation.
Greg Bennett (aka. Samick) They're just AWESOME for the price you pay, way better than Corts. The Torino series (SG-lookalike), once you get it set up properly is perfect. Especially the arch-top TR4 I have Looks better than an SG too And this is an Avion, a LP copy Sorry for "advertising" them, but they get way too overlooked on the low-price market. I could get either a Squier Affinity, or that TR4 (for basically the same price). I see shitloads of LTD's, Squiers, Corts, and none of these sweet guitars
How much do those cost, about? I checked the site and it seems the music shop ten miles down the road from me carries them. I think I'll go check them out sometime this week.
I've got an Epiphone Les Paul Special II that I've had for awhile now, been thinking about getting a better one but I really don't have the money for it. I've been thinking about saving up for this though, I like the white finish+rosewood fretboard. Or this, I actually prefer the Epiphone Wilshire to the Fender. OR, Cheaper than the Fender and twice as awesome.

So there's no point in buying the Jackson one if you're looking for a "better" guitar. This is purely a cosmetic issue.
Guys I need some scales and/or licks for playing metal solos, I wanna sound like metallica but everything I play just comes out as blues (since the minor pentatonic is all I know)

DO WANT. Do not have $30,000. Props to anyone that recognizes it.

What songs do you mean? Anyway, check out the standard Minor scale if you want more melody in your solos.

If you want me to, I can teach you loads more on scales.

Well one scale thing I see in quite a few of the Ride The Lightning songs is this little scale |-10-8-7-----------------------| |----------10-8-7--------------| |-------------------9-7-6------| |---------------------------9-7-| |--------------------------------| |--------------------------------| That's all I've seen of it but there's probably more to that scale, and it's very nice to just play around in. What is it?
Can someone please tell me what guitar this is?
Well, it says Fender Stratocaster on it...
I know it's a Fender Strat, but can we be a bit more specific?
Well duh, it's a Strat, but yeah, what exact kind?
Guys I need some scales and/or licks for playing metal solos, I wanna sound like metallica but everything I play just comes out as blues (since the minor pentatonic is all I know)
Drop tune.
Drop tune. I joke I joke, try learning some new scales, sadly i suck at scales and have no idea what to reccomend.
You can build mad skill if you start learning classical guitar.
hmmm... Quickly to the place that sells nylon stringed acoustics!!!!!
Also, don't forget to buy your rudiments books!
Bah!!!! words on paper, I'l work it out on my own, now, how do i get it to make pretty sounds :p
Alright let me get my scanner ready.
LOL Disclaimer, i can play electric guitar, no idea how scales are used though.
Well, first a major scale goes like this: Tone-Tone-Semitone-Tone-Tone-Semitone 1-----2------3-4--------5------6-----7-8 With 8 Notes (Two Tonics)
Yeah I can grasp how they are made, but I don't understand how they are used, yeah they can be used for solo's and chords can be made but how do guitarists know which notes to use?
Well, you can solo using pentatonic scales, which have 5 notes. Keep to the key you're in though, for soloing in B might not go well if the song is in the key of D. You could also use blues scales if you REALLY wanted to. Also, a natural minor scale goes: Tone-Semitone-Tone-Semitone-Tone-Tone A Harmonic Minor Scale goes: Tone-Semitone-Tone-Semitone-Semitone And a Melodic minor scale goes: Tone-Semitone-Tone-Tone-Tone-Semitone(Ascending half) Tone-Semitone-Tone-Semitone-Tine (Descending half)
