I'll be getting me a tasty new Hagstrom in a few months, mmm.

Mine's a Kay Starter Series that was my dad's. He said I could use it if I could fix it up.

It needs a new tuner, a new string, a new tuner, a rewiring (I can do that one now), and a new bridge because I picked it up and the part that was supposed to hold on the missing string fell off.
:ughh:
Lol where do you live (State) and how old is that? :P
I'm guessing Alabama?

Should I buy it? I really want a 7stringer but my budget is meh...
Oh hell yeah it is, unless you're talking about a bedroom tube amp
For a price/quality concern, I'd recommend almost anyone upgrade to a hybrid amp instead of pure tube. I LOVE tubes and their tone and all, but I got mine DIRT cheap - $200 for my Crate vs the $600 retail price. Hybrid amps are much more affordable and still offer some of that tube sound.
lol i only have a bedroom amp, i went a bit overboard i must say. 150watt marshall stack :P
I have 3 PRS Guitars.
One is a Custom Single Cut.
One is a Custom 24.
The last is another Custom 24.
I gave one to my really good friend cause she was interested a lot in guitars and whatnot.
I'm gonna be buying a Composite Acoustic X Soon.
I use these guitars for gigs and whatnot. Music is really my life.
:D
I don't get this, why all the guitar players i see play these boring Stratcoaster and shit designs? its just plenty ugly and overused.

Because they're all beginners and have no idea about guitars. It's the most generic guitar and it's great for starters.
Wow I really hate 22-fretted guitars. I feel handicapped whenever I play on one (I'm used to having 24). Such a shame it's the standard. Has anyone here, who uses a 22-fretted guitar, ever felt dissapointed or frustrated that there wasn't something you could play properly?

Practice, practice, practice! :O
I've been thinking of getting a Gibson Melody Maker, since it's the only Gibson I can afford. Is it any good?
I play things such as Jimi Hendrix, White Stripes, Wolfmother and The Clash, but I want to be able to play most music. I own a BEhringer V-AMP 2, so I can tweak the sound a lot.
Well, the Melody Maker is a very good guitar, but I personally believe that there are better guitars for the same price. Don't heed the brand name too much when looking at guitars. But hey, if you like the feel and the sound of the Melody Maker, then go for it.

Well, the thing is I've never heard it in action.
Oh, and currently I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, the one from before they remade it in 2008.
Hmm, is there a guitar shop near you? If there is one, look there for a Melody Maker, and try it out; see if you can get the tone that you want from it. Remember to try out whatever guitar that you're looking at through an amp similar to the one you own. You don't want to try out guitars through a boutique amp unless you yourself own a boutique amp, because the amp has as much to do with the tone as the guitar, in my opinion.
Your Epiphone Les Paul is definitely a decent guitar. Do you want to get the Melody Maker simply due to the Gibson brand name? If so, think about what you're doing. The money that you would be putting into the Melody Maker could be spent upgrading your Epiphone. You could use that money to have your guitar set up, to have your pickups replaced, or even to have a Floyd Rose installed (if your guitar tech is any good). Just don't buy the Melody Maker because you want to own something with, "Gibson," on the headstock, or you'll regret your choice later.
Also, sorry about the poor-ish grammar; I just got out of bed, and I'm really, really tired :P

I'm not buying it for the brand(Ephiphone's logotype looks like Gibson's from a seen from a decent range :P), but Gibson should ensure quality, also it's made out of Mahogany, which is nice. I'll probably go down to the store and try it out.
Yeah, I've also thought about upgrading the guitar instead, it's just that there are so many options and I do not know a lot about guitars - I don't want to regret changing pickups or something later. I've also thought of replacing my shitty Behringer beginner amp, but I don't know since I have the V-amp.

Superstrat is definitely one of my favourite shape, I don't like normal strat though, too rounded.
Also I would absolutely love to have this guitar

I love the simplicity; the one pickup and knob, all black including fretboard, minimal bridge, neck thru-body design. It's 100% perfect. Too bad it costs £1299.
Ugh, I hate string-through-body. It makes the guitar look like cardboard.

Crappy picture taken from my iPhone. BC Rich Beast Bronze Edition, my Gibson SG is in the shop, sadly. A lot of you guys have really awesome guitars! Also, does anybody know a nice sounding amp setting?
Ugh, I hate string-through-body. It makes the guitar look like cardboard.
WHA? It looks awesome! How does it look like cardboard.

With the holes that go into the guitar body...I don't know, I think it looks cheap, but that may be just me.
And it makes it difficult to replace a string.
How do you even replace string through body strings?
Anyone ever tried to played Blackwater Park by Opeth? that song is fuckin technical
I got all the way through to the second heavy part but stopped learning for the night
I guess i'll learn more when I get home

Take that guitar, change it from solid black to solid white, replace the hardware with gold hardware including the pickup and fit a floyd rose and that would be my ultimate.

What do you mean solid sheen? That's not a colour unless you mean reflective.

I meant solid white, I was concentrating on something else and mistyped, one sec.

I need to get some lessons first before I can play that. I love Opeth though.

There are like pegs/locking bolts that you attach the string to from the back of the guitar.

No biggie really.
Huh, on my first guitar you had to unscrew a plate on the back and then fit the strings.
