Just got into playing guitar (acoustic). So far I've learned Rök from Finntroll. Pretty sweet song.
Good, a quick update :
people in this thread admire overused Gibson les pauls
weird designs are hated
and i'm getting a Dinky soon

I love schools fender toronado more than my epi les paul :/
I like Les Pauls well enough, I'm learning on one and it's very comfortable to play. But, if I were to spend $500+ on my own guitar, I'd pick something more interesting. Like an Explorer.
Les Pauls are fun to play with.
i don't know any full songs, i just learn my favourite riffs and solos from anything that i hear and like
there's always at least one part of a song that i dont like, which stops me from learning that part of the song
pretty much this
I own a Jackson Randy Rhoads and I've been enjoying it, except for the Jack-cable input has gotten loose somehow. I use a Line 6 Spider III 15 (15 watt cause I don't plan on playing live), I was looking for those special effect pedals but came to the conclusion a Line 6 would be perfect compared to the effect pedals. This might be a great tip for anyone looking for a decent Death Metal or heavy sound.
So what songs here can everybody play?
Pink Floyd:
Time
Shine on you Crazy Diamond (minus the 3rd, final solo)
Comfortably Numb (still nailing the final solo)
Breathe (slide played without slide... must get one)
Echoes (fragments)
Dire Straits:
Money for Nothing (fingerpicked)
Sultans of Swing (plectrum)
Down to the Waterline (plectrum)
Camel - Snow Goose
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
[/showoff]
I found an old guitar it's about three foot long is it a full size or a 3/4 and what is the difference?
The difference is the size. The size of the soundbox does affect the sound. The bigger the soundbox the higher the volume for one thing.
So what songs here can everybody play?
Too many to write down..
But right now I'm working on classical guitar. Mostly Final Fantasy 7 songs. Farm Boy and Yuffie's Theme are my favourites.

I love you. If you can play the second Sultans of Swing solo in its entirety, that is.

Ooh I wanna buy that exact guitar, for a first electric. Ibanez GRG170DX, right? Can you tell me how good is it? (Sorry for the questions, but no music stores around my place, so I couldn't give it a try yet.)

I play a slightly simplified version of the 2nd solo based off their Grey Whistle Test performance

I'm proud of that because I learned this song all by ear :3:

About a year. I might record that next time I get a hold of a nice mic, for now my old crappy GuitarRig3 solo should suffice. That's from 2 months back

Don't mind the other submissions, they're old and imperfect
And don't mind the "furaffinity"...

That's the first thing I'm learning once I get an electric. I can play part of it on an acoustic, but bending doesn't really work.
I'm learning Blackened.
That's a hard song very fast, tell me how your doing (:
That's a hard song very fast, tell me how your doing (:
Not bad, it's not exactly that hard, just fast, like you said, but I can play the main riffs of Master o' pups and Battery, and those are pretty fast. It'll just take a while, but it is one of my favourite songs, so I'm gonna stick at it.
I am thinking of buying a Jackson RR3 (Randy Rhoads 3), and I was wondering if it's
suitable for playing metal. Thanks!

Btw, the main riff of Battery is epic pwnage, really fast and heavy! You got a great taste of music IMO :)

Jacksons are made for metal. So yes. It is entirely suitable.
Hey guys.
Um, I recently converted to electric so I need you to identify my guitar for me. :D

It's a Jackson, with a Floyd Rose tremolo. Cost about 450$.
Btw, plays great! :)

Oh yes, silly me :P. Thanks!
I'm learning Blackened.
If you're having trouble with the main riff, try to use 12 on the 6th string instead of 7 on the 5th. Same note of course, and easier to play because you don't have to bounce between strings except to hit 13 on the 5th string. The only problem with this is getting back to the first fret to play the tail of the riff.

Be prepared to spend boring hours sanding off the original paint & finish and then paint the guitar of the course of a week or two.

I wouldn't reccomend it, you'll have to take it all apart and when reassembled it might not look as good, chances are it's harder than you think.
Unless it's a relatively cheap les paul, then go for it.
What is the difference between the Dinky and The Soloist?
What is the difference between the Dinky and The Soloist?
Dinky has a slightly smaller body I think, and all Soloists have set through necks. There's probably more.
It's a Dinky.
Thought so. Thank you. :)
Does anyone know any bands similar to Protest The Hero, I really like them but I want more!
