Ghoul WIP update. Coming along smoothly.
holy shit that looks awesome! really creepy stuff right there dude.
And done. I got really lazy at the feet. Mind if I nab Broken One next? :P
that looks amazing, go ahead! added you to do the list.
I'm not convinced with your decision to make it entirely out of lumps at the last minute [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] It looks good in the WIP, I think axe the lumps for the forearms and lower legs though, looks a bit awkward and kills the dynamic twisted feeling of the stance

Thanks, I'll see what I can do.
Did some adjustments. The leg gesture should be easier to read now.
done with the thri-kreen! dibs on the orc.
eeeeeeeh started doing studies for the orc. this is my first design which i will completely scrap out of oblivion. not satisfied with this at all, but thought you guys would find interesting. it was a study to begin with, i was just playing around with facial traits & body configurations.
this is really nice! i love the face and the overall pose, the design overall is great. though you want to scrap it i'd say continuing it would be really interesting to see; if you do consider finishing it, some points to improve would be to watch the anatomy, the left arm currently doesn't make a lot of sense. also consider making him feel a little bit more savage maybe?
eh tbh i dunno about the design. i was actually just sketching something else. i scrapped that anyway, i didn't even save it. [editline]25th July 2014[/editline] orc are probably the best creatures for a low-level adventure, they're one of the trademark d&d enemies. i need to make sure i don't screw this up. i want to give a sense of culture to the orcs, just like i did with the goblins.

Ive neglected you guys, so heres a troll im working on.
that's a really interesting design. i feel like too many fantasy games don't try to really push the design of their fantastical creatures, staying with a really generic humanoid design that's just more gribbly.
that's a really interesting design. i feel like too many fantasy games don't try to really push the design of their fantastical creatures, staying with a really generic humanoid design that's just more gribbly.
it is a pretty interesting design but i feel it doesn't do any justice to the description of the monstrous manual, sorry. [editline]28th July 2014[/editline] there is a LOT you can do and still diverge from the cliché designs from the vague descriptions they give you on the monstrous manual. [editline]28th July 2014[/editline] your illustration also does not respect their ecology & society, they would never hang out with kobolds like that, nor be dragged around like giant mules or w/e. i mean, if you're up for this you gotta read about the creature you're about to illustrate! remember: you're not coming up with a new creature; you should base yourself on the description they give you, which is most of the times kind of vague and leaves a lot of room for artistic freedom. this is D&D, and on D&D trolls have these features:
Their frame appears thin and frail, but trolls possess surprising strength. Their arms and legs are long and ungainly. The legs end in great three-toed feet, the arms in wide, powerful hands with sharpened claws. The trolls' rubbery hide is colored a moss green, mottled green and gray, or putrid gray. A writhing hairlike mass grows out of their skulls and is usually greenish black or iron gray in color. Their dull, sunken black eyes possess 90-foot infravision. Females are easily distinguished from males; they are both larger and more powerful than their male counterparts.
The Great MenteR's Re-Illustration of AD&D's Monstrous Manual In all seriousness awesome thread, fantastic work across the board. I really dig the snout on that troll.
Can I take Aarakocra?
of course! added to the list.
This thread should stay on the first page. [t]http://i.imgur.com/VrsB4rl.jpg[/t] Here are some aarakocra. Suggestions, comments?
it looks fucking amazing. i'm going to draw some myself too. [editline]29th August 2014[/editline] i'll take the troglodyte.
This seems alot of fun and a good art exercise. I'll take a stab at a Kenku after work.
