first study for a troglodyte!

might go with this pose too.
Started working on some super rough sketches of the Kenku. Not entirely satisfied with the pose or if I have correct proportions for the legs. I'll play around with it more tomorrow.
EDIT: On review, I probably should make the torch taller.

the right arm looks tiny :p maybe you should look up someone on that exact pose and try to exaggerate a few features to begin with.
you can even try posing in front of a mirror and taking pictures of various poses. i do this sometimes when i need a pose i'm not 100% comfortable to work without a ref.
reviving this thread.

not 100% satisfied with this though.

How about Xvarts? Or Tasloi?

i dunno, i was thinking of doing the bugbears but i might be getting sick of drawing goblinoids. i wish people started contributing for this project again! D;
I'd contribute but I am a terrible artist.
Something different, though huh? How about a Giff, or a lurker/trapper? Maybe a Wolf-in-sheeps-clothing, or a Froghemoth? There's so many out there monsters in the old books, especially the side books like Spelljammer or Ravenloft.

the side books are awesome. remember those little add-on books too?
i just think it's best if we stick to a narrow selection of monsters while there aren't many artists contributing. if this project were larger (or if we had more active contributors) i'd definitely open up to the 3.5 monstrous manual and its side books.
but yeah i'll see what i'm gonna do next. probably something different like the ones you mentioned.

might go with the giff.
I remember when the monster manual was a big binder and they used to sell what were basically "expansion packs", a bunch of pages holepunched to fit into the binder. Wish I still had that one, it had a shitload of monsters in it.
[QUOTE=MenteR;46457377]also hobgoblin study:

I love the stockiness in this attempt, I think your final hobgoblin is too safe and vanilla
it's just like a man with pointy ears and inconvenient teeth
I will hopefully be able to contribute again soon
I have a series focus problem I think, the work that I'm keen to do is always stuff on the side that I have no time for instead of what I should be working on. always wanna do something else

looking back at him i agree. i might go back and do a few more attempts at the best looking hobgoblin.
good luck
to nitpick I's also suggest roughing up their blades a bit, all of your orcs and goblins are wielding glamorous heroic looking swords :v: give them something brutal looking that needs little or no maintenance imo

oh, the hobgoblin doesn't really have shitty equipment though. he's more of an organized warrior than a shitty goblinoid:

digging this. tbh i really like how confident the stalactite strokes feel.

i feel like its head is a little bit hard to read though.

Sure, I'll work on that.

Well ok but I don't think it's right for goblins to POLISH their swords to a mirror shine, it's such a point of vanity lol
