I've had to use one as a company a few times, no more than 300 mile round-trips and it was nothing but trouble. Firstly the imobiliser decided to reset itself meaning I couldn't start it on my way home, had to get the AA out who then got it working. The 2nd time it broke down on a colleague was when she was driving on the motorway and the timing belt must have slipped a couple of teeth, the car lost power and was VERY rough when she crawled it home in limp mode and the last time was in the winter when a bit of cold would put it off starting. This is all in the space of 6 months I've been working here and I have to drive it to Stowmarket and as far as Devon in the coming weeks :( Could have been a run of bad luck but that goes along with the poor repuation of French cars, just beware. Make sure it's good a good service history, not too many owners and the previous owner looks like they've kept it well maintained. Roll on July when I'm 21 and allowed to take the higher group Audis out.
A friend of mine drives that model. It didn't break down so far but still is horrible on fuel for long Journeys and it just generally isn't really comfortable to be in.
Just did another 200 miles on the company Clio, its on an 03. It used about half a tank, most of which was me with my foot hard down and I took the back roads on the way home, so half a tank fo 200 miles of that kinda driving isn't too bad at all. In my car I struggle to get 300 miles per £75 tank with economic driving. With regards to the actual drive.... Awful. There's no feedback through the wheel in the corners, you have no idea how close to the limit of grip you are, which isn't much at that. The steering is way too light, the gearbox is clunky but the brakes are surprisingly good for a small car. The company Clio has 80,000 on the clock so isn't as tight as it was but still, there are better first cars out there. A Ford Puma or Fiesta Zetec are probably the best bet for a first car, not particularly fast but fun to drive.
Thanks, I've been looking at the Zetec's.
I had a 1997 Saab 900 SE Turbo fun little car but not as much fun as my jeep http://farm1.static.flickr.com/147/432862536_bdf5f88902.jpg
My '92 Buick Century. Just hit 257,000 miles. My parents got it when my mom was pregnant with me.
actually buick said it only lasts a century. oh ho!
www.instantrimshot.com Looks like it's a bit rusty though.
I like Buick's bodywork, nice car
I agree, I do like the general shape of it.
www.instantrimshot.com Looks like it's a bit rusty though.
It's both rusty and lacking paint on a majority of the hood/roof.
