Didn't exactly happen to me, but I was around at the time so whatever.
About 8 years ago after moving into a very old house in the country, we were having some building work done on the attic. The builders we hired were classical no nonsense tough guys, all of them were pretty sorted, and you probably wouldn't want to mess with them. At one point during the contruction, when there were just two of the 5 builders up in the attic, the rest were with me and my dad in the kitchen getting something to drink, we heard a really loud scream and some crashing about from upstairs. As we were going to investigate the two builders came running down the stairs, white as sheets. I've honesly never seen anyone so scared shitless in my entire life. When they calmed down my dad said "Well, you two look like you've seen a ghost or something," laughing it off. They told him that they had indeed actually seen a ghost. They described her as a middleaged woman in victorian style clothing, sat in a rocking chair in the corner of the room.
Of course when we went up to have a look we found nothing, but those two builders quit the job and various strange things have happened in the house ever since. Some of the lights turn themeselves on and off randomly, chairs spin or move, and according to my dad (I've never heard/seen this happen), the doors will open and slam shut, but I reckon that could just be the wind.
Also, my computer at my mums house is haunted, it turns itself on at night :tinfoil:
I got one.
One time I was really ill so I was sleeping in the same bed as my dad (if you give me gaybows, I'll hunt you down and eat you) so if I woke up and started throwing up, he could help me get to the toilet etc. etc. so I didn't remember much from the night, but when I woke up, I was upside down in the bed and the bed itself was soaked with sweat and I was really uncomfortable and I was covered in my own saliva (on my face) and I was really tired. My dad told me I had been awake most of the night hallucinating about random crap and I'd told him I'd "blown up the world with my gun" or "ray gun" w/e.
The next few hours I started remembering snippets of my dreams (or whatever they were) and it scared the b-jesus out of me.
Moral of the story is; when I'm ill, I should not be aloud around technological, futuristic weapons of any sort.
when i first moved into my house i found this old chest in my basement with this massive old fashioned lock on it. i couldnt find the key but i could tell there was something inside, i though maybe something really worth something, the house was really old. Anyway, i went to get some tools and then as i was walking by the tv it suddenly turned on and started randomly switching channels, it sounded like it said "dont open the box" and then it just turned off.

That's so freakin creepy! How scary would that be to have a computer that turns itself on! :ghost:
Before I begin, please, don't be an idiot and reply with "Then who was phone" because you're only going to get banned. Thanks <3. Also, this is completely true, and it really happened. This following story takes place between Midnight and 4AM.
Last night I headed to bed at around 11:30 after doing a bit of homework from the weekend. I got my cat and hopped into bed, but I just couldn't sleep at all. To make things worse, I kept imagining I was hearing things.
At somewhere I estimate around 2:15AM, the phone rang. The sound completely startled me and I sat up in bed. I heard my grandma rise up and go to the phone. I heard the beep and then she said "Hello" twice. The person on the other end hangs up (I can tell because if you hang up our phone you'll hear another beep) and then the phone starts ringing again. Next thing I know my grandma is rushing up the stairs yelling at me to answer it as it may be my mom who's in trouble.
I ran over to the phone and right before hitting the "answer" button I notice that the caller ID says my own phone number. Someone was using the intercom mode on my phone to call me upstairs.
Now here's where it gets scary. There's nobody in the house except for me and my grandma, my one pet, the cat, is in my room. My grandma left the other phone downstairs. So we can assume that there's someone in the house. My grandma would not believe this theory so she walked downstairs as I grabbed a baseball bat. Also note that I did not tell her that the phone was calling from inside the house. Naturally my grandma answered the phone and said "hello".
I heard one footstep, and then nothing. I immediately froze. I did not hear a sound from downstairs. I called for my grandma but I did not get a response. I started shitting bricks big enough to build the pyramids. I'm too fucking scared to go down there of course. Then finally I hear my grandma come walking across the kitchen to the stairs.
She said that both times she answered the phone, all she could hear was a moaning, and it sounded like someone was trying to speak. She thought it may have been my mother in a car accident, calling for help. The first time the phone rang it was from "Private Caller", and the second time from inside my house. That's right, from inside my house.
It's now about 3AM and I'm freaked the fuck out at this point. So I try to go back to bed which I obviously can't and my mind keeps playing tricks on me thinking I hear sounds when it's only the heating system. At somewhere around 3:30 I heard the front door open and then close. Deciding I was sick of being scared I grabbed the baseball bat I earlier had brought out from my closet and ran downstairs. There were wet footprints across the floor. I thoroughly checked all areas of the house and the basement too but there was nobody there, minus my grandma who was sound asleep.
Finally at 4AM I tossed on the telly downstairs and just sat there watching some stupid documentary on the Jackson 5 after Michael's death. I had school at 6:30 and there was absolutely no way I was going to be able to get enough sleep for school so I called in sick today.
And that's my story, completely true, about how I shat so many bricks my asshole felt like Richard Simmons after a day at the gay bar.
So before my friend moved, he lived in the countryside. His neighbor died, and we decided to dick around in the garage of his house. He pulled out his cellphone, and started making a recording. In the very back was a small window, and the camera was pointed at it just long enough to see a figure turn towards the camera. It looked exactly like his neighbor. Later that night (about 2 am), we were walking to his house (the dead neighbor's), and my friend's other neighbor's dogs started barking and going batshit insane. Next to the dead neighbor's mailbox were a bunch of bushes, and i had a flashlight with me. I decided to just flash it at the bushes, and a huge shadow moved. It was at least 3 1/2 feet tall and 4 ft wide. It looked like the silouette of some animal, but again, it was just black. No details, no fur at all. Needless to say, right after we saw this, we booked it straight to my friend's house. We've also gotten strange recordings from inside the garage too
The Internet.

Hotdamn thats creepy.
I live in a house that is about 150 years old. Civil-war era, right in the middle of it back in the day. I live in central Virginia you see. People always find old ammunition and shit buried around my property. I've found a few interesting bits myself. This was only for some perspective, not the whole story. We constantly have bizarre experiences. We've confirmed that the wife of the house's first owner died in the bedroom right next to mine. Records indicate she died of a fever from a case of whooping cough. When I was three, guess what I caught. Whooping cough. My mom constantly heard footsteps around my bed when I was ill yet she knew she was alone. Everyone who has been in my house for over and hour or so, with or without me giving them the history, has seen or experienced something odd if not downright paranormal. Now, I'm a partial skeptic of these events; I want to believe, but I'm not quite convinced yet. We've had tons of shit go down. A friend of mine hates my house; she reported a levitation inside of somebody. Of course, I don't believe this. It's just one of her stories I'm sure. But my mom, when she slept in the bedroom of the dying woman, had terrible, lucid nightmares. Night terrors you could almost call them. We've all caught glances of figures, heard steps, movement, had lights come on. And I shit you not, we've had objects moved right in front of our very eyes and lights turn on at night. All of Hollywood's favorite horror movie clichés. I'll be upfront with you, if I were being told this, I wouldn't believe it; we've had fucking dishes fly off tables, man. I still don't credit it with "ghosts" though. I find it silly to think I know the cause when science of the natural and the not-so-natural has only come so far. There is much too much more to see and to discover before I make the call. I kind of favor the mystery though.
I have some other interesting shit to tell if FP is interested.

Please, do go on.
yes more interesting shit please.
I remember as a kid when an old guy said he had some nice new shoes at his house that I could have.
My mum then came for me and the old guy just left in a hurry.
It wasn't until I was like 15 when I heard about pedophiles abducting kids that I understood what happned back then. I was like 6 or 7 years old and those memories still haunt me and they're clear as crystal. :ohdear:
It's may not sound scary or bizzare but when you relize that you could've been raped or killed as a kid, that fucks your mind up.

This is different. It was the most horrifying and yet the hardest to describe experience of my life. Happened on December 18th. We got out of school as usual. Nothing stood as to suggest how my evening would unfold. I was baffled at the snowfall we were getting this early for my area. I decided to go out and recapture that Christmas spirit. I dressed somewhat-appropriately for the weather and made my way down the driveway to the street. There is something you must know though. We live in fucking backwoods nowhere. The closest actual town is called Tappahannock. Only made famous for being the birthplace of Chris Brown. What a legacy. Anyway, the street was deserted as usual. It only runs a few hundred meters before connecting with Route 17 on both sides. I came to our office building on the edge of our property and just stared across into the street for a while. Oddly, though I tolerate cold rather well, I was not cold in these conditions. What happened next I can only describe as otherworldly. I was overcome by that long-lost winter joy and the Christmas spirit. Then everything took a turn. Shit got surreal, serene. Peaceful. Too goddamn quiet. I was lost in my own winter wonderland. Ever have that sensation of spinning as you slip into REM sleep? Suddenly, everything came crashing down. I was spinning. I was mortified and paralyzed. I couldn't hear and from here on, memory gets blurry. I almost felt like I had a top-down view of myself. Remote viewing? We'll leave that to the hippies and conspiracy theorists. I was hearing cars and talking although I was far away from anyone else. I was running and completely numb. No sensation or perception of cold. I was getting the fuck back home. I kept seeing glances of figures. I heard a ringing in my head like I've had with sleep paralysis. I felt like I was being overpowered. Since then, my already present migraines and stomach pain has worsened. For a few days, I was awestruck. Time seemed to slip by so quickly. I was tired 24 hours a day and everything was kind of fuzzy. I can't recall hardly anything from those following uneventful days. I must live in the fucking Twilight Zone. I've grown accustomed to things like this. I've actually had a similar experience on those backwood streets. There's just some odd allure to them.
I really dislike people who jump to paranormal conclusions. That shits not real, just like god, crop cirles, and things like big foot, yeti, lock ness monster, etc.
People like that are the same people who invented god. They couldn't explain it, so they invented bullshit so they can comfort themselves at night or seem intelligent or whatever the reason it is you people do it.
I really, rrreeeeaaaaallllyyyy hate it.

Hence why I remain neutral on both sides. I've been a Christian and have leaned toward Buddhism though remain a man of science. I call myself agnostic. Perhaps a mystic. Faith is fine and dandy if that's what you want, but I seek truth. I also remain politically neutral for similar reasons.
So my cousin lives on a farm right. Went there during the holidays to catch up and stuff.
So one day we have to help my uncle to catch an Injured sheep. Mainly to use it for meat.
So the head gets cut off, blood goes everywhere, Bodie gets up and runs like 5m. Watched it all. Wasnt scared, more like
"lol...... ish"
Then we take it to the Slaughter house thing there. When I walk in, there's this cold, dark, eerie feeling, and I can here animal noises, soft and faint. And I feel as if I'm being watched by these thigs.
So after the body has been skined, gutted and all that Jazz, I'd forgotten about the feeling sorta. My cousin and I laugh at the sheeps balls and guts and we go inside to play with Lego(I was like 11 I Think)
And we have Lamb for tea.
Later at 11 we gop to bed and then aI remember the Slaughter house..... I look out the window (no curtians) and i see a sheep, and some other animals, like a calf, a few more sheep and a few rabbits
10m away from the window
So I Hide under the blankets and force my self to go to sleep.
morning comes and I dont tell anyone. never happened again.

Everybody knows there's nothing better than a good scare once in a while.
Cheap thrills, they make the world go round.
Here is some shit that freaked me the fuck out and is also why I believe in ghosts.
I live in a fairly good side of town upper middle class new houses. So power outages never happen. This is just a setup to the story you'll understand
I was a bit younger 13-14 and back then I deeply believed in spirits evil magic all that crap. My sister lauged at me for it (She is a year younger than I) and one day she dared me to do something. Well we sat in my room I had a couch for a bed at the time) and I heavily meditated and closed my eyes. I kept concentrating on opening my mind. Finally I opened my eyes and in the corner of my room stood a young boy he had to be no older than 6 or 7 and he was wearing very old farm clothes (Mind you our house was build on an old farm). He had a beatin derby hat and trousers that appeared as if torn in every spot. As soon as I saw him I turned to my sister and asked if she saw anything. She said no. I looked back and he was still there just standing with a grey stair. His eyes were blank and no emotion in them. I felt a weird static feeling and said aloud "The power" Suddenly all the lights in the house went out. No other house on my streets power went out. It was weird as fuck and the last time I ever tried anything like that.
well, I went camping near Caldwell, fuck that town it's terrifying andshit so yeah
I was with my aunt and her husband and my mom and cousins, we heard the most terrifying fucking thing I've ever heard, it sounded somewhat like a baby but not at all, it was this horrible moaning noise and there were glowing eyes and I was fucking scared titless

What did you sister do tell me!!!
Ok, beat this shizzles:
Me, my girlfriend-of-the-time, her brother and his girlfriend went camping. The day before we had scouted to find the best location possible. We found a section of a field we knew that was closed off by foliage with a nice clear space in the middle. There were signs that people had camped there before so we went for that location.
On the actual night, I fell ill so couldn't go. We decided to go again the next night so I could be there.
My GF and the other girl said they had heard noises the night before, and that the dog was going mad for no reason. Me and the other dude didn't believe them. It got to the evening, and we suddenly believed them. I won't explain in detail, too creepy, but basically there were people that couldn't see or hear us, figures in the undergrowth and noises.
We packed up and left. Even my GFs dad came along to help, and ended up as scared as us. There was no trickery of the mind at all...it was all real.
We went back the next day, with about 10 people, and we all experienced the same thing at the same time: a shift in the air pressure and a movement of the top of many trees in the same direction at the same time. Then 3 rustles, getting closer to our position. Lets just say, we all looked at eachother and all our eyes said run. we ran all the way home.
I have never been so scared in my life. Some of it may have been mind trickery, but I know for certain that 70% of it was not.
And that's my story
That sounds alot like the film, The Blair Witch Project, except they were murdered.
I've seen a "black mass" before.
It was when me and my dad were doing something with the computer downstairs, we went beneath the desk (about 3 feet deep) and we both saw a shadow the size of a small cat or guinea pig dart from one end of the desk to the other. It went behind the cabinet part of the desk, with about one inch of space to fit in. We both looked at each other and then shrugged it off. I was probably 10 or so.
Also once in my basement during a sleepover I hallucinated that a shadow Mew was moving across my ceiling. Creepy stuff doesn't really ever happen to me.
For a second I thought you were going to talk about a actual underground Satanic mass or something. That would have been interesting to hear.
