moar pirete My favorite part of these is the technology--I'm going for a 70s/80s science fiction vibe for these (like original Star Wars, Alien, etc) so I've been limiting the color of the tech to dark grey and appliance beige. Those springy cables are the most fun to draw.
Some more practice stuff without ref and some doodle thumbnails The leg's and arm's still look kinda funny to me, I ordered a Michael Hampton book purely off of Jen's recommendation hopefully I can start reading that soon.
I really like the robodog.
Here's a quick sketch, really went more for style than anything else.

whoa man, bump the contrast up on that
I've been sketching on and off in SAI, mostly some minor anatomy stuff, here is something I just did: Did it from memory, no ref. Gonna do some more, but feel free to give some crit right away, I need it way more than I used to think. Updated the image with a sketch of my own hand, I think I'm getting somewhere.
anatomy stuff no ref
These 2 words don't go well with each other even for an intermediate artist.
give some crit right
You didn't use a reference. With all due respect, there's nothing to crit yet, everything is wrong. Nor it wouldn't help if you I did. Just draw from reference a lot and You'll improve

Also use longer smoother lines, especially in Sai you shouldnt be petting your lines so much.
Where can I get some good refs? Would help alot if I got a site that got everything or most of the stuff I need to learn/know covered.

Also don't pet your lines so much, try to use long smooth strokes rather than lots of short ones.

If anyone's interested in some really cool character/env inspiration, take a look at Oscar Chichoni, he's a big inspiration of mine. http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/anatomy%20reference
That is almost all other peoples drawings, although looking at other peoples drawings is useful to see how they do things you should never copy from other peoples drawings because if they have a mistake you are copying that mistake on top of making your own :) photos and real life, learn to render it yourself first. Copying theirs will show you how to draw that specific thing in that specific way but not how to render from real life, since that was pre-done for you.
