I love this. I would try a tarantula, fly, dragonfly, ant, and moth.
I did everything except the tarantula.
C'mon guys, take perpendicular photographs instead of these daft dramatic isometric shots :v:
you just cant handle how artsy i am!

Make a really, really dark dark purple rhinoceros beetle.
So I'm drawing this chef-type of knight
Knight helmet w/ chef hat or cooking pot helmet?
I'm not even done, haha. It's all going to come together Those are the primary colors i'm using right now. I do want it darker, I'm on phase#1. Juvenile, cluttered, gross, nauseous, abstract crap? It's my first attempt with acrylic markers man, simply trying something new. I'd love to see some of your stuff so i could throw out some harsh vocabulary at your style. Although I do agree with some of the abstract being arbitrary as of now. That will use some extra work. Not how I originally had it planned out.
Don't take crit personally
I'd love to see some of your stuff so i could throw out some harsh vocabulary at your style.
This especially is a classic bad reaction/attitude to have
Try to keep a neutral perspective on your own work
Also word to the wise, sticking pretentious titles on early forays into art will encourage people to not pull their punches when giving crit :v:
Yeah you just gotta do what I do when faced with criticism. Example
The sky is a bit nasty and acrylic looking, could stand to be something less saturated. A nice subtle wash leaving almost the white of the paper would really have set off the rich brushwork and ink on the trees
Dont tell me what to do infidel, i know what I'm doing
E: your face is a bit nasty looking!

It's quite unclear what is happening in the image
I want to say it's a ship that's crashed into a mountain but I don't think they have those in Pacific Rims
I thought it was a big mech facing left?

It's Cherno Alpha.
It's Cherno Alpha.
Ok
But I feel that to somebody unfamilliar with Pacific Rim it doesn't convey enough through form posture and silhouette to be easily read
we had to design a mandela in color & design class.
guache on cardstock, 10x10"
not the best photo but whatevs

this sort of stuff I really like the textured squarey brushes
EDIT: to put this more into context I'm trying to find squarey brushes, so any help would be awesome
DOUBLE EDIT: Nevermind I've actually found a video that may help, it may have already been posted but its a useful video

Idk, I'm unfamiliar with it and I read it correctly
I can see how it looks like the ass-end of a ship too, but I saw the mechanised crotch area and all became clear
Very racy piece really Menter

I really love his expression, but I personally don't understand why you want it to be so bright when you've set up such a good lightning that really highlights his form.

dgg's version is awful but I agree that it was a lot more powerful with dimmer lighting
dgg that shit up dawg

but not that much. obviously

ah dgg once again 'fixes' a pictures color and makes it terrible
do you just have a really badly calibrated monitor or bad eyes
[editline]5th August 2013[/editline]
maybe it is both that would explain it
I'd say he's been sitting in a dark room in sunglasses looking at a monitor with very low saturation all these years
oh god I can't draw anything but somewhat cartoony faces

I'm a bit new to the whole drawing thing. I've had a tablet for a while now and I still can't use it so well.

No, I just have a completely different taste than you guys.
Also what do you mean color? The colour is untouched.
a healthy middleground would be nice
but you have touched the colour cos if you touch the levels and curves the colours will change that's just a thing!
No, I just have a completely different taste than you guys.

I wouldnt call a darker colour untouched
I wouldnt call a darker colour untouched
Darker light, not colour.
Refering to colour when talking about light is silly. Light affects colour so of course the colours becomes more saturated when you darken it, but it's still the same colour, just seen in darker light.
If you're talking about a change in colour it's either a change of hue or the change of saturation without the change of brightness.
