He can use whatever colours he wants, an edit is only necessary if they're incongruous or look otherwise ugly. You're trying to change the design behind it altogether.

Not everything pixel has to be your own standard ya prick
I think he got the point already..
I was watching Mulan the other day and noticed the smoke has a particular style:

Does anyone know if there was a previous inspiration behind it?

Im not at home right now so im surviving on ms paint; somewhere along the line I resized it and fucked everything up. I tried cleaning up the artifacting best as i could tho.

Maybe traditional Chinese art? I know they do stylize wind/clouds in a pretty particular way.

they innately have this ability
still on a Quake bender

I swear if they made a Quake 1 HD like what they did with Serious Sam I would be so happy.
Making some HUD elements for WWI: Source, and since they're all asleep I figured it'd be good to get some feedback over here:
Gasmask View (Two versions, depending on if we want the center visible):

And of course the usual raspberry jam:

Any ideas on how I could improve them?
I think the second gas mask view is better. When you actually wear things like that - goggles, glasses, masks, etc. - the field of view for each eye overlaps and so the visible parts near your eye kind of merge.

Yea I was figuring that'd probably be a better one to go with. I made the first one because that's how they had gasmasks look previously, so I made it just in case it was a design choice.
crosshairs in video-games are in the center of the screen right? so how would you see who you're shooting in the face if theres a gasmask there??
also im pretty sure eyes/masks dont work that way?

Both gas mask views are pretty horrendously hindering. With a view like that, people will probably refrain from using them as much as possible. I'd say increase the size of the circles until the diameter of them is slightly less than the height of the screen, and have them overlapping, so you can see the center of the screen. That'd block less view, be less frustrating, and although not bang on, is more realistic.
Maybe something more like this? (just a quick overlay I did but you get the idea)

The hindrance of the gas mask is intentional. If your view weren't obscured then there'd be little reason to ever take it off, making gas artillery useless.

That's a pretty great game mechanic. However, it's not just that it's difficult to see, it's also that it's pretty unrealistic. I'd say something more like this, but with your neat little details, such as that on the lens.

Nothing major this time, just another very simple obstacle where the player can jump over.
We also have a basic plot going,
Short-version: In a once peaceful world, monsters have suddenly appeared, including huge beasts that could lead and spawn other monsters. Because of this, a price has been put on such creatures. Those looking to make their fortunes took to the roads in hopes of killing big amounts of creatures and collect the best items.
It's quite standard stuff I suppose, but the story is not the most important piece of the game, what we really wanted was to stay away from the standard "running from" trope.
It could still take some weeks to reach the first milestone but would you be interested in playing a rough version and help us bring the game to a good and fun level?
