That's fine and all for the symbolic and/or interpreted meaning of the piece, but that doesn't change that it looks like a messy mirrored scribble. The symbolic meaning and the aesthetic quality of a piece are exclusive, and having one does not necessarily justify the other.
Just my two cents on it.

Just finished the first piece on my new laptop! Gaben with a valve inspired background.
Don't use soft brushes if you don't know how to work with them.
Perhaps that's intentional? The jet is actually comprised of several mirrored sketches, which overlap and intertwine, which are then brought into shape by the sketchy, highly elliptical circles used along the length of the ship.
It's supposed to be a scribbly mess, because that is the process of organic creation I use. I was never actually drawing a jet, but added and added to a mirrored image until I constructed something coherent out of many individual fragments of completely different drawings. I constantly change my mind on what the subject of my drawing is, and often flip it to draw it as something else from another angle.
If you look, you should be able to see about 3 or 4 faces and a stylized wolf's skull when flipped to the left as well as a collared, aristocratic figure in the center.
If you turn the image to the right you see a bowing robed person about to self-immolate under the hellfire of war.
All in a messy sketch of a war machine.
It's about seeing that what is in an image isn't necessarily the most prominently featured form. It's hard for the mind to sort out the chaos of another's creation, but this is intended to highlight the process that goes on in my mind when I am creating. It's sort of a zen-flow of ideas where instead of erasing or starting anew, I merely flip the canvas and look at it as another object, and add the according details.
I don't know if the colorless and unshaded images will help you see what I see, but that's the personal value the art has to me - that it is a representation of a natural flow of ideas related to war rather than a specific goal that was set and completed.

Uhm
Well you know when you take too many colours of paint and mix 'em all together, and it ends up looking like [del]shit[/del] brown?
..Yeah
Perhaps that's intentional?
theres only one rule that applies for all sort of arts.
and that is that is has to be nice to look at, and THEN it can start telling its story or whatever.

This is probably my favorite quote about the quality of art, so I'll leave this here.
so I made a sword aswell, it's meant to be Dovahkiin's sword from the Skyrim game

So how are you making these?
If I want to improve my overall drawing, does it matter what I draw?

For a cosplay?

No. The only criteria is that it has to physically exist. That way you can actually gauge how good or bad something looks. As far as specifics go, a good understanding of the human form is a must, regardless of what kind of art you want to specialize in. Good luck!

So far I've only been drawing humans, so that's good.

If that's so, many branch out and draw other things. Try architecture or landscapes.
I loved pacific rim, so I'm making a Slovenian Jaeger

I made it so that it's 3/4th the height of other jaegers and made for pulling kaiju away from urban areas towards other more powerful jaegers, so the little chalk board thing on its chest is actually counting assists, not kills c:
There's going to be a large cannon on the left side of the torso, the side skirt is so that the shells don't hit the leg

I suppose I can agree with that.
I should have put more effort into making it aesthetically engaging as I did working each component together.

that is nice to look at though.
art is just things which are cool so if it's cool it's art

I still have to practice each designed face in various poses so that they can look like normal people when they emote and not shit

That's actually very cool to hear c: it's far from finished though
I'm thinking about naming it "Drunken Poet" (keeping with the naming style of other Jaegers) as a reference to Prešern

A few standard powerups, we are going to have more but we will start with these. It's a magnet to pick up coins and items that the monsters drop. A shield that acts as an extra life for a limited time and powerup for double damage.

Nicholas Cage as Max Payne?
Joking, it looks good enough that I'd hang it on my wall.
looks like david tennant to me
Got a few I'll be posting over time. First one shows two F-14 Tomcats dropping bombs while taking fire from enemy AA guns. Second shows tanks in battle with Striders during the Seven Hour War.
