speed draw thing of a model for school
so I've been working on some pixel art for my game, and I heard that starting with the original gameboy palette was a good start

I personally think it looks great compared to my previous stuff, and that's saying something (meaning all my previous pixel art is bad)
I feel like that's far too high-res to be pixel art.
did a thing again
this reminds me, did you ever finish that Devastator Marine you were drawing?
Didn't progress on that much, having a hard time with the details on it.
I can't fucking sleep so I slapped together a shitty remix of Take On Me in Audacity of all goddamn programs

My sketch for the 'Death' theme for the arts. The idea is - The Bat and Joker both have in common - death. Bruce Wayne's parents died and he decided to fight crime; (one of the theories) that Joker's pregnant wife died, he fell in acid(because of Batman) and became The Clown Prince of Crime(and gone nuts). How I will show it off as 'death' - on the right page, will be Batman, and in his wing will be a picture of his dead parents and him(young) sitting near them; and still have yet to find a picture for Joker. On the lower right corner I will write Bruce's plot, and on the left bottom corner Joker's theory.
The picture itself doesn't show shit basically, it is a rough sketch I've made and I have improved it since I took the photo anyways. Maybe I'll start doing it tomorrow. Oh yes, black pen only.
Some progress. Pencil sketch, going to do it completely by pen on Monday.
So this is the background that I made for year book for pictures of the sophomore class (their color is purple) Do you guys think it looks alright? (thumbed because massive res sorry)

dude please
-edit-
It didin't thumbnail the first time it loaded :S
Sorry, but what were you going for here? Is it supposed to look like weird pointless grain/noise?
I had a go at it once more but this time with a new technique.
This is Carl Cederström he was the very first pilot in Sweden.

there's some offness with the transitions between the hair and the skin, but that shit is hard so I ain't gonna complain too much about it.
the shadows and highlights need varying colour tones. this is usually the biggest issue with these recolour things - people don't put in any lighting tone. flat colour looks really odd. for example, specular highlights on leather don't look like that
Threw together a quick little event image for a party I'm throwing next month (for the facebook event page):

Although it's not as active, the graphic design thread seems like a more suitable place for that, especially if you're looking for feedback.
Personally I think the texture added to the text looks too soft and low-resolution and I'm not sure about the colors, but the icons are solid.

I really appreciate your criticism and i will certainly look into it. To be honest i put more time into the face then anything else on this piece. I still have the "project file" so i can still work on it. But overall is it good to be my second attempt? and do you have any good tutorial or something on specifically the matters you pointed out?

no worries and yeh it is good. the colours picked are pretty good it's just lacking tone like i said. i can't really think of a specific tutorial other than to read up on colour theory in general. some of the issues with the piece are about not understanding colour, but also not understanding materials. the best advice i can give for that is just to observe your environment and look for specific reference when you're doing these things
for example, the guy is wearing a leather jacket, so google some examples of leather and observe the way light works with that material. in your image, the leather's highlights are very brown like the rest of leather. in reality though, leather is quite a reflective material and should therefore probably reflect the colour of the light source in the picture, which in this case looks somewhat blue
this, although probably a bit overly complex for your needs, is a very good read on this sort of stuff

It's really as far as i got
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Devestator.png[/t]
It's still lacks a lot of details, had many different tries but still can't find a good look, and not to mention it's really hard to paint the details.
Had another space marine painting going but it also didn't get finished
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Doodles226.png[/t]
I always have a problem finishing something when i get stuck on something and can't figure it out.
And i just noticed the second space marine head is a bit too far left.
dtmech i think you should probably focus more on getting the painting fleshed out much quicker and then you can smooth it out and make it prettier/more detailed at the end. really you should be nailing your colours, values, and forms, and then moving on to refining the piece
i know this because i used to work like you do and it always took me like 40 hours to get anything done
A page for the comic I'm making, what you guys think? I've had this page laying around for a while, if you are interested I could post a link to the whole comic, it's not long.

Yeah i kinda rush through and start smoothing a bit too quick, that and i am still trying to figure out how things work.
