oh thank you that means a lot. i'm gonna make some modular assets today that will replace all the brushwork. that should bump up the detail of the corridors n stuff to a more professional-looking level

i'd say it's about 90% my own stuff. there's a few stock ut3 assets like some railings, pipes, etc. roughly 1-2 months work on around 5-6 months experience. inspired by routine obviously[/QUOTE]
Hrm, I had no idea you went to Futureworks.
Hey gents, quick question.
I think part of the reason my sense of colour is so weak is because I do all of my drawing and sketching exclusively in ballpoint. I want to incorporate some colour into my everyday drawing, so I can do quick observational stuff, that I think would be beneficial.
What medium is best for putting colour in my everyday sketchbook ? Preferably something that won't smudge or distort when I close the book on it.

I like pencil crayon personally
check my post again! i updated it with variants of my character, it's a really awesome exercise and i plan on doing this again in the future.
Architecture Drawing is probably the most retarded shit Ive done.
So here I was, happy that we get to go out once a week to draw buildings around the city. Got some A3 sized paper and some pens and pencils. So we start drawing this building, and I sketch it about 50-60% of the paper. Some tutor then comes over and says "Oh no, you shouldnt do it that big, go about this small because were just starting. And no perspetive, just the front view.", and he starts drawing an example of something as small as 10cm across. Then Im doing my lines that I usually do, straight and all, another guy comes over and says "oh you should rest your wrist on the paper and do it really slowly, make sure you dont do it straight but rather start shaking your hand so it comes out in waves". Im like, fine whatever and I start jerking my arm muscles like crazy and not looking at the paper so that I can get a wavy kind of line. This stuff is just crazy
Made this thing real quick like for a school project. No ref and almost somewhat plausible lighting!! Baby steps!

It's getting there, but the illustration is super scribbly and looks too tablet-ey.
I'm also not sold on the main title text.
I'm just glad it resembles a humaniod at first glance really. And no, I'm no graphic design artist, I couldn't pick a tasteful font to save my life.
hey, i just finished my cambridge igcse art exam the other day, im wondering if any of you guys have taken it and know the rules of uploading support work and the final peice the internet

These long and narrow strokes make it look really inconsistent and dirty, sorry. It's always better to use wide and symmectical strokes to quickly set the shape, especially if it's organic.

Reminds me of early Maloof a lot :v:

Except his composition-through-values is a lot better than mine haha
Careful with the dark side of that building; unless it's really harsh sunset and the lit-up sides are really bright, you're gonna have a lot of reflected light still hitting those dark faces

You've made the mistake of assuming that I can just intentionally do things the right way or make something look nice. I'm a blatant amatuer and I haven't worked my way up it- I know what I'm supposed to do but that doesn't mean I can do it. But I appreciate the feedback!
Done!

I realize when I look at the actual source, the whole sketch's not up to scale but I don't have to worry about that much. The thing is, I can't get the texture of the plane AND the fabrics right. God, I swear, I fucking hate drawing fabrics

nice to see your colour coming along. try out working in broader brush-strokes now. maybe once you've got the hang of that, try out some textured brushes
keep up the good work!
