This hurts my hand just looking at it. Not that you can't move those fingers into such a pose, but the middle of the hand (the non-finger part) is far too long.

So, did Daijitsu model that for you?

Surely binary drawings are ones with just two values, not a big palette with gradients and everything?
yay pixels
A sketch of a drawing by Rubens I'm doing a study of. Going to finish it with brown and black ink, and whiten the highlights.

Pretty pedestrian atm but I have no doubt the tones will make it kick ass

Did you do just the background or did you do that UI too?
[editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
As i previously stated, I can hardly draw - nevermind digitally.
However I hate being a bit of a lurker and not contributing much so have this shitty thing I did for class..

I was just referring to the pixelation, as Paint Tool SAI's un-aliased drawing tool is called "binary".
yea thats an apt description of the tool but not of pixel art that isn't b/w
A dynamic expression:

The scribbles for shading don't really work imo
yeah, I think I ruin its right face as well... not digging the fur there too much ):

I wish you could animate in SAI (I drew the frames in SAI and imported them to Photoshop to animate)
(Also, Beta is referring to this.)
Edit: Made it into an avatar, why the hell not

Can anyone help me improve this sketch? I can't tell but it feels like I've done something horribly wrong. Also the things on the left are supposed to be dimples but they kind of look like moles, should I make them look more like moles or dimples, I kind of like the look of them being moles

The face's symmetry looks really off, that might be what you're feeling wis wrong.
The problem with the moles/dimples is the shading. Because of where the light and dark is, it looks like theyre standing out, whereas if you reversed the light and dark, it would look like they were pits. Also, unless the smaller dimple was meant to be a pockmark, it wouldn't make sense for that to be a naturally-formed dimple.

Wanted to draw Prequel's Katia, wanted to try to form my own style inspired by children's books.
I made this on my iPad in like an hour and a half using Sketchbook Express without a stylus, just my bony finger.
I feel like I screwed up the image.
tbh I'm not confident in doing creative stuff, haven't drawn much since 6th grade.

I don't think perspective is the problem but just in case

there's a very strong contrast between your colour palettes. the ground is blue-grey and dull while your lighting is very vibrant and harsh. i'm not sure what you're trying to do with it.

maybe integrating background colours with them might help. At the very least i think you should see their colours reflected by his body

The whole area has a lot of tones between the colours, but the dudes only have hard colours, makes em look out of place, and the guy standing in the light doesnt cast a shadow at his feet
I had a bit of down time in class today and there was this ancient 'goodwill' unclaimed oil painting hanging on the wall, so I decided to add a little something special to it.
