Could I get some critics on this HUD? Things we are trying to display: -Pause button -Health -Score -Coins -Current weapon/bullets/reload info -Powerups -Skill button Does it read well? Is it overly complex? First time doing a HUD and not sure if it's up to par.
also. i think the green, even as an accent color, stands out as a bit too green for its sorroundings. warm it up a weee bit.
ye i feel like i went overboard cus i made a colour balance layer separately for each colour so i had like around 5 colour filter layers in total oops

Maybe adding a white border around the guns or modifying the element would help? And this might come down to preference but I kinda like the coin icon to be in front of the number of coins. Of course this will make those two texts not align, but might be worth the test?
Thanks for the help! Will look into that and try a few different things to see if it improves.
A few 18"x24" ink studies. Did two smaller thumbnails as practice for a bigger piece. And a WIP on the figure painting before I put the first layer of color on the body. I'll post the entire process once I'm done. I also had the idea of working with some of you guys to try and make a really big and comprehensive tutorial for pretty much everything art related. Drawing, painting, digital art, etc. I was wondering if anyone who has extensive experience would be interested? We would have sections for pretty much everything you could think that would help anyone with their artwork, so we'd work together to make one big tutorial in a thread. Things like how to stretch a canvas, how to paint with oil properly, information on types of paints and supplies, information on historical figures and inspiration, how to practice drawing, how to draw figures, how perspective works, how to paint in photoshop or another program etc. It would make sense to have one place where anyone could go to for anything they need regarding art, instead of looking around at different sources, each with different intents and ways of explaining in order to find what they're looking for.

I recommend doing a wiki rather than just posting on fp though, it's a more logical layout for the structure of the info.
I suppose if it was a wiki it could even include stuff having to do with art including digital 3d and photography, etc. as well as traditional? I'd love to help if I could!
I like what tutorials like this do http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299 Easy to follow, no external links to click, a layout anyone would be familiar to, easy to update. We would lock the thread and sticky it to the top of this section. If you make a wiki you all of a sudden have the confliction of having to tell people to go to it to get the help they're looking for. If you have a thread anyone who browses this section will see it and go to it and then either tell other people or post it on other sites, as well as showing up as a search result on google. I think starting out at least with a thread and then switching to a wiki later on would be the best move. The tutorial itself will be very methodical. I'll start it during winter break, and I'm going to be in charge of most of it with input and help from everyone else, especially those with extensive knowledge and/or formal art education or training. I've already learned so much this year so far and I definitely think it will be a huge help to anyone who wants to further their knowledge and skill to have access to a properly maintained and structured tutorial. It's going to be sectioned into painting, drawing, digital painting, sculpture/ digital 3D, and graphic design, with each section being broken down accordingly to sub sections, again, with input from everyone who can help. I'll mostly be focusing on painting and drawing. So anyone who wants to join me and make a sort of team for winter break so we can do this tutorial I'd be really cool. Just message me or respond here so I get an idea who wants to help later.
I'd love to help out but honestly that sounds like a fucking beastly massive project, I don't think I would touch it out of time concerns :(
Nah, it shouldn't be that complicated honestly. I have a month off during winter break so I'll put some time towards it. If everyone chips in it shouldn't take that long to start organizing something.

Well by everyone I mean everyone who has extensive knowledge. You for example.
I think for me, the most valuable thing to learn would be effective practice / learning more than actual techniques. Stuff which will improve your ability to improve.
Well by everyone I mean everyone who has extensive knowledge. You for example.
Cheers for the compliment dude but I still think it's just too grand a project for us CCers to undertake. There's so much shit to cover across different media, so many millions of little things that different artists will tell you about techniques and stuff. SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT I think if someone is looking for specific information they can very likely find a source out there already which would be more narrowly dedicated and comprehensive than we could reasonably sort out. I could get on board with something on a more intimate scale to boost our section, like CC art contests with a panel of a few people from this thread or something?
I think the best thing to do would be to lay the foundations/basics and set up some moderators, throw it out to huge websites like Reddit/CGHub/Polycount/whatever and just filter the edits.
Some fan-art i did in 6 hours (i think)
I hand sculpted faux wood and a lifelike oreo cookie out of clay last night

Make a complete faux-biscuit with filling and everything, then prank people with it It's fairly convincing
Make a complete faux-biscuit with filling and everything, then prank people with it It's fairly convincing
Here you go satan:

I made it so that it could connect to the other cookie. The heart cutout will be glued onto the other one so that it will be aligned correctly. I also made a tiny hole in the other cookie as well to make it into a keychain, necklace, etc. whenever its desired to be worn as such. I can take it out when I want to trick people.
Some of the retarded shit we've had to do in computer art class. I hate this class, the teacher's an idiot I can't believe I'm actually paying money to have to come here, all he's teaching is how to open photoshop and illustrator basically. He didn't even mention anything about digital painting and he seems to think everyone in his class is an idiot. I'm probably the only one who actually put some effort into the projects, and I'm behind by 10 projects and failing right now. I wouldn't call any of these done either,
Hey guys, one of the Research boards for my current design task is a study on how other designers represent positive experiences. I'm aware the colour palattes and use of line have a lot to do with it but I'm finding it difficult to find any examples of this. Could you guys offer up any resources or advice?
presented my first clay sculpture this week for my sculpting class! It went pretty well! Wow that's awesome! Partly what I'm looking for. Any examples of how designers represent positive experiences would help - be that learning resources or fully finished pieces with clear examples of how different elements work together to convey emotion. It's a bit much but I'm really struggling to gather anything.
Here are some pics of the fox I am making for my final project. Any suggestions? I plan on adding texture to create a fur-like feel.
