Partially rendered sketch. Was gonna write some fiction to go with this fella for the creepy stuff thread, but I'm kinda busy so idk if I'll bother now
I think there could be more specular definition on the teeth, aren't they quite shiney?
Anyways it honestly just looks like a poor fellow with cleft palate, not necessarily very creepy without some more refining.
His eyeball is completely black. C'mon man
(Does need the story behind it to make it work though)
I'd just assumed that to do with it being 'partially rendered'. Either way just because I didn't think it was that creepy doesn't mean anyone else can't find it spooky.
I was planning to have it less on-the-nose too, do something like this with it
Is the light hitting him straight in the face? All the light seems to be the same which make him look kind of flat. I would angle the light upwards from lower down so it hits him more in the forehead and eyes and less as you go down his head
I agree, it would be more spooky, like when a person holds the flashlight under the face.!Spppooookkyyyy!
i'm going to a meeting/socialising thing with unity devs in my city and i needed to whip up a business card design quickly. will this do? maybe someone more design-minded can point me in the right direction:

the images aren't exactly my most technically competent pieces of work but i feel that they work well in terms of design? i think the back is especially striking. any ideas?
Some of the retarded shit we've had to do in computer art class. I hate this class, the teacher's an idiot I can't believe I'm actually paying money to have to come here, all he's teaching is how to open photoshop and illustrator basically. He didn't even mention anything about digital painting and he seems to think everyone in his class is an idiot. I'm probably the only one who actually put some effort into the projects, and I'm behind by 10 projects and failing right now. I wouldn't call any of these done either,

It's been a while, facepunch.
Still working on doing up better hands, but feet are improved by my standard.
You rendering is average but your lineart is very very solid. Not a A or P fan but I dig it.
I've had a bunch of imagery in my head for the past 6 months about something involving space and a desert planet and a bunch of other stuff and today i decided i'd shit out a test page

very highly wip but i just want to know if it "works" thanks
Rendering?
solid line art is great to hear though, thanks!

You shading and value leave a lot to be desired, you've basically just colored your lineart in. You can definitely take it to the next level by adding proper shading and texture, aka making it more like a painting and less like a drawing.
@salmon
I feel like him telling them to keep off the radar should be a closeup, but other than that I have no naggles. A reaaally cool concept IMO, I like the feel of it and I hope you'll flesh it out.
Strong comp on the top panel, weak comp on the rest of them salmon
snip automerge shit :(
Also I personally think the comp in the last panel is also pretty sweet.

Ah, I get ya. I get lazy with lighting and shadows if I don't have a background in mind. Keeps it from being really flat, I guess

I took your critique into account and did a bit of a rehash.

put some of that dot-pattern on the front to tie bith sides together.
i don't see why you need the dot pattern tbh

Images areok, but this font looks cheap like hell. You could try to find a bit more fancy-looking one, and send it with the card layout to the poligraphy. They usually accept this kind of changes.
made me a new wallpaper

the coloured bits change between green, blue and red

it's part of the actual illustraton i believe, not a design thang for the business card. either way, bringing some of it onto the front will make it less bland and also unify the card as a whole.
oh i see
Hey so, it's been a long time since I've tried to do any figure drawing. The teacher who taught my class a year ago said that, generally, photo references aren't as good as the real thing. I think because of perspective issues but I might be wrong.
Anyhow, I can't take a class for a while so I was wondering if you guys had any good repositories for reference poses? Something that would give a good, solid foundation for anatomy. I'd really appreciate the help getting started again.
The best one is http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/
Referencing photographs doesn't help you draw from life very much. Everything is rendered flat already, so it's more copying than interpretation. You CAN interpret a lot with photos but you need a good base knowledge of anatomy to do so successfully. Photo refs do help with that. Supplementing with drawing from life is a very good idea, even if it isn't figures. Draw anything from life, but preferably start simple.
