Along with that- don't try to make excuses in reaction to comments and criticism. It's so easy to try and defend your work in whatever way you can, but you've been dodging a lot of comments made on ways you can improve your work and it's not a healthy habit to get into.
It's just a lot to take in, I will follow advice more often though
It's just a lot to take in, I will follow advice more often though
Just spend 15 minutes on something, leave it, come back to it and spend another 15 minutes on it. But don't try to finish that something in 15 minutes because that just doesn't work.
Yeah. Work for 15 minutes, cry, watch a 2 hour movie, work for 15 minutes, cry, etc.
I don't want to end up like that guy who makes all those unfunny comics on deviant art and can't take criticism.

Tape? magic?
Thanks, I've got some smears on it. but I just need to go over it with a kneaded eraser and lift them up. Rules I follow working with charcoal. Work left to right if you're right handed, don't blow your dust over the non drawn areas, keep a pencil under your hand to keep you're hand from dragging across the paper. Beyond that it's just not messing up to much.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/PT42PuG.jpg[/t] updated version
Perspective on the lake/foreground is foooooked
I did a watercolor this evening, using a watercolor that my late grandmother had painted that's hanging on my wall. Was really a nice experience, observing how she painted and learning from her, even though I never got to know her.
Perspective on the lake/foreground is foooooked
damn, I was worried about this. any thoughts on how I can fix it, or could someone maybe do a quick redline edit to show me what's gone wrong?
eh just did a quick sketch [img_thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1439792/wat.jpg[/img_thumb] anyone know who it is? [editline]10th December 2013[/editline] i hate how i spent an hour drawing this and the initial outline was so clear and now you can't even tell who it is

Not only that but the curvature and appearance of the other side make it look like cliff faces above a beach as seen from very very far away. So you've got these three completely different spacial arrangements melded into one bizarre viewpoint. And the way you've cut off the right side and made it into a sort of weird circle is really jarring. Lakes are not like that, they fill up a dip in the landscape, and their edges are usually sloping. The lower your eye level, the flatter a body of water will appear. You can tilt a sheet of paper to demonstrate to yourself how the width will remain the same but the length will grow very foreshortened. Your lake appears to be the same width and height [t]http://www.hdwallpaperstop.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/lake-in-the-valley-wallpapers.jpg[/t] Squash it right down and get rid of the weird shore on the far side. You could be less lazy about the edge right near the viewer too, that funny grass fringe is fooling nobody. And extend it off the right side of the canvas. Think about standing right next to any lake - you almost definitely wouldn't be able to see the side of it curving away like that if you were looking at the opposite shore with such a narrow focal range. You're standing right beside it, the edge is going to go off to either side of you, almost parallel with you. Unless it's like a puddle
JLC? or selena gomez
The eyes and mouth look like selena gomez, I think it's the shadowing on the nose that makes it look a bit off

Here's the most updated version [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7346219/Arts/scraps/supersecretartproject3.jpg[/t]
imagine you took this picture with a camera now that would be a pretty wide angle lens, judging by the perspective and angle on the clouds, and as such, it would experience a lot more perspective distortion on the lake. combined with the high-ish altitude viewpoint it should look similar to this except it's closer in your case, and so, more distorted. more
Nah Rob, given that it's heavily stylised nothing looks really wrong with it. The mountains are a tad flat perhaps, at the same time they don't look very large or distant. Looks like you've painted in a pretty dark value back there and then done some low op airbrushing, doesn't make very convincing atmospheric perspective. But as I said you can get away with it fine in that style.

guy in front is good but anatomy and perspective of the titan is kinda off.
Isnt titan anatomy supposed to be all fucked up? Agree on the perspective though, I never really grasped on how to do it with things more complex than boxes..
i've heard good things about this technique.
even just using cuboids is good and takes a bit less time

making a video game http://www.joegrainger.com/LumberJackGame.html wasd to control, click and drag to orbit the camera. collect wood for points, points are multiplied by the number of lumberjacks in your team. look to the sky for smoke and get to a cabin with lit up windows to get more lumberjacks. avoid big white cubes - they are bears [editline]10th December 2013[/editline] bugzbugzbugz placeholder textures etc etc [editline]10th December 2013[/editline] [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ba6UM-aCMAESNxm.jpg:large[/t]
making a video game
Killing them with some sugarcube thing is the best part, even though it's not that easy because of this inertness of controls. Also, have a tactical santa.
