I feel like the closest foot should be pointing towards the viewer more, and it could also be made to look more like it was under her center of gravity (further away).
WIP of the puppeteer from earlier, C&C welcome :) [img]
There's something about the pose I really dislike. I considered saying it in your sketchbook thread. It just seems to not at all reflect the personality I gauged from the previous drawing of her. It just looks... Undignified. I also feel it doesn't work with the composition you got going now. It would fare much better if the canvas stretched upwards instead and actually reflected the general shape of the pose. With that said, I love the color palette and how you've used it on the background. It works really well on its own.

That flare is a bit oddly placed
it's supposed to be an orb of light inside the prism
it's supposed to be an orb of light inside the prism
might be a bit more apparent if it had a slightly harder edge and then a glow coming from that?
yeah i'll have a bit more of a play around thanks
Thread is still lovely as ever. May I join in? [t]http://puu.sh/6eVkB.jpg[/t]

Pretty happy and scared(anxiety). A film/comic book company wants to hire me as a set and prop designer for film and photography so I can build my portfolio and network ;D

Main light from where the pipe is, secondary light from the camera. Lighting on the cloth and hair is still off... I'm trying to make her right hand be the golden strings... but it is not coming out right... Any tips? Gah... I'm going to bed...
As someone who would like to use references off of the internet but can't since parents won't allow me to use my laptop in my room because of not being able to easily see what I'm doing on my lappy while I'm in my room (meaning that I won't be able to use my desk), and doesn't feel strong enough to stand up against that rule and doesn't really feel like using the kitchen table due to drinks and the "sticky" surface that somehow makes the paper a bit messy, how do you guys think I should get around this problem/what do you think I should do to improve my art skills while I'm living with my parents? I have a feeling that my parents also have a problem with nudity, so I probably won't be able to do any efficient anatomy work while I'm living here.
i'd probably just start with growing up tbh
when i first started learning how to draw, i rarely used references because i felt like it gave my drawings an artificial feeling. i still don't use references, i'm usually able to visualise a pose in my head but i'd recommend trying to find a life drawing class nearby (if you can afford it) alternatively use something like posemaniacs i guess.
when i first started learning how to draw, i rarely used references because i felt like it gave my drawings an artificial feeling
thats why you should use reference properly, instead of just copying it it's usually good to exaggerate reference, especially when it comes to poses. the human eye doesn't see stuff like a photograph does. in motion, things seem exaggerated. that's why when you use static reference you have to imply a lot of stuff through your lines and the flow of what you draw so basically don't just draw out pose references 1:1
yeah i know now.
Don't forget to be safe in space!
Xenos love? heretical, also snoopstudies gotta practice more, my faces still feel off whenever I draw them. [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/6fBlN.jpg[/img_thumb]
I was asking because you guys were always saying how it's never too early to start trying to improve your anatomy and such, so it kinda bothers me how both procrastination and not being able to use references off the internet is getting in my way, and after reading that one blog about procrastination that someone posted in that Mapping Pimpage thread, I was actually kinda motivated to get back on that. I guess I could just try drawing from life. That would work out pretty well especially since it'll probably get me out of my comfort zone.
How old are you? I mean, I get how we're all afraid of our parents when we're young, but what's the worse that can happen if you say no? Either way, go to the library and get an anatomy book then or buy one...
