Nice work. Seems like you're going right into your darks and your details before sketching the whole composition out loose though, might wanna work on that. If it's a life drawing, it doesn't have to be meticulously clean and precise, you're not an architect. Construction lines actually look really nice when visible in drawing with geometry

I do tend to shade ares and detail before finishing a sketch, I know its bad practice and actually working with the markers and fine liners is stopping me from doing that. I have big problems with my earlier stuff where the background is too detailed. But yeh thanks, I'm working on not doing that. I think ill try having construction lines and flow lines in my life drawings, see how it goes, ill post results from next weeks lesson. Thanks.
Your architectural work is incredible. The life drawing is also really good, but doesn't quite carry the same impact for me. Great work overall though!
I know this probably isn't exactly the right thread for this, but I was wondering if any of you painterly types could help me out with this.

Does this look at all like it was (digitally) painted? Or does it just look like a shitty photoshop filter? It's not a filter, but I was wondering if I'd just achieved the same shitty effect in a more complicated way.
needs consistent visible strokes

It would really help to bring some sharper lines and visible strokes to the face itself. Something that gives a sense of direction and volume. Right now it looks like a cardboard cutout in front of a background.

I feel a lot more comfortable with architectural work, so I can see what you mean, anything you could point out that lessens (?) my life drawing?
I went to the museum!

Just practice I guess! I think it's because you're so used to the rigid forms found in architecture, that the life drawing doesn't have much life/character to it? It's very well drawn, and the anatomy is great, but it's not particularly exciting.
Try out some different styles/techniques/mediums, as well as doing really quick poses to loosen up your strokes.
http://www.posemaniacs.com/ is a great website for doing quick timed poses at home. It's not quite as effective as seeing the real thing, but it's great for warming up.
That's just my opinion, but I do a lot of life drawing at art school so I'm constantly exposed to really fresh and exciting styles which does perhaps detract from some other work. Your stuff is great though, keep it up and it'll be incredible. You know how to work a pencil which is the hard part :)

Acrylic on Canvas
This looks amateur to me, and part of the problem is that colors look 'straight from the tube.' How do I avoid this for the next round?
thin your paints
Pastel is the new black

I too can never draw snoop dogg
Time for some snoopstudies then^
edit: I can't really tell if people like the new snoop, the funny ratings give me mixed feelings, but its all good.
It's funny looking. Portraiture is too much too soon, you're not there yet. Practice drawing more basic stuff (and drawing mind, not painting)

I finished this little thingie I made a while back by adding a rock thus making me an ~artiste~ of absolute brilliance. I like drawing nature but i'm colorblind (in some weird red-green-ish-i'm-not-entirely-sure-exactly-HOW-colorblind-I-am way) so I use alot of swatches.
I also have way too much trouble with perspective. Do any of you rascals have any tips or maybe a link to a good book about it?
perspective from a flat view plane (with no visible line constructs) is produced through the differences in value to produce a sense of depth.
in another sense, it's by using 'layers' in your image.

the scene gets lighter as you get 'deeper' into the image, though you can also make it darker and keep the foreground the lightest, which creates a different feel, generally more ominous and claustrophobic.
as for perspective with two/three points, all there really is to do there is to build your construction lines and draw your objects in those planes.

A thing, that grew from a very basic sketch idea.
