I would love to see like, a waterfall coming out of the right side of the building. That'd definitely make a statement about nature reclaiming (not sure how much sense it would make).
Not an expert though.

Wait....I just looked at this and you totally inspired me to start digital painting...like, this kind, limited pallet low saturation stuff. Because wow is it impressive!
Inspiration from Dredd?

Colouring of the shadowed side of the main building a little too red for my taste - a more realistic colouring would be bluer.
It's amazing though! A few bright hits on the foliage and it'll be perfect

Here (less red) :

Akira !
It seems like you've gone less red down the bottom but still have some red up the top, which isn't what I meant haha
I will draw a fancy-ass diagram later on, but essentially anything that's in a crevice-like-space (for instance, the area where a wall meets the ground, etc) will generally be higher saturation in whatever colours the surfaces of the crevice are. So if a red wall meets a red floor, the area near that corner will be saturated red. That's because the red light bounces around a bunch in the corner, and most of the ambient light from other objects in the area doesn't get in there as easily.
But where you have an exposed surface (the upper bits of that tower wall) you have the surface being hit with a lot of ambient light, which is what lights it up slightly and makes it not pure black if it's not being hit by direct light (the sun). So here, it's a blue sky day, and our ambient light is blue.
So the upper reaches of the shadowed side of the tower (exposed) will be bluer and the lower reaches near the corner (a crevice) will be affected by light reflected off the ground. Due to the bright white buildings all around I'd be tempted to use dim white light in this area

cepink's stuff looks way better when sized down though, it tightens up the brushwork and surface definition a lot.

I have no idea how anybody could read that as a rocky alien landscape. When I look at that, the only thing I can see is buildings.
I've been having a lot of trouble putting characters into scenes so i'm working on some environments lately! Any suggestions as far as getting characters to look natural in an environment?

“Next!” A monotone voice rung out over the crowd. Gerald stepped forward from the front of the line, stopping in front of a man in a dark uniform. Two guards stood behind him, watching the crowd, the uniformed man spoke in an unperturbed voice. “Show me.” Gerald held out his hand, opening his palm to reveal two gold pieces, the dead king Olren’s face stamped into them.
The dark grey uniformed man raised an eyebrow as he stared at Gerald’s open hand and its contents. “You require one of three documents to enter Greyhold.” The man paused for effect before continuing. “Proof of your identity as a citizen of Greyhold. An entry permit signed and sealed by a Greyhold profiler and examiner. Or a signed and sealed invitation from the lord regent, Harold Forgefire the third.” Gerald could have sworn he saw a slightest twinge of a smile tugging at the edge of the man’s mouth as he spoke again. “Now, unless you by some miracle have any of those, Out. Of. My. Line.”
Gerald pondered on the inspector’s words before a spark of realisation spread over his face. “Oh oh! Wait, hold on..” Gerald rummaged in his cloak’s many pockets hastily before finally clutching something in his hand and bringing his closed fist in front of him. “How about, these!” Gerald opened both of his palms with a smile revealing four Greyhold gold pieces.
“There you go! Four invitations straight from the king! His face is right on there can’t you see?”
he said pointing to the pressed face of Olren on the coins. “Now, if you’ll excuse me”.
Gerald attempted to press his way past the two guards standing in front of the open gate to Greyhold but the inspector grabbed him at the neck of his cloak pulling Gerald back in front of him. He ripped the coins from Gerald’s hands. Then delivered a backhanded slap with his one of his black leather gloves to Gerald’s face.
The inspector’s face remained emotionless as he yelled at the guards behind him. “Arrest this man under the grounds of attempted bribery. Take him to the Greyhold castle dungeon immediately! The guards rushed over and grabbed gerald by his shoulders and started dragging him towards the gate. As they passed the inspector Gerald smiled at him. Blood running from his mouth down across his chin. “I thought I needed an entry permit to enter Greyhold.” he said with genuine humor in his voice. The inspector turned to him with rage that only a patient man could muster, then delivered a swift kick to Gerald’s face.
As Gerald was hauled through the gates, half-conscience, he heard a monotone voice ring out behind him.
“Next!’
CC Requested and welcome.

I'm loving this so much! The colors are spot on.
I think the white birds flying across in front of the bleak coloured sky and dark side of the building add so much to it. If you took the birds out it would only be half as good.

I like it a lot, would like to read more. Although there is something slightly off with the structure, it is a little bit jarring for me to read but it may just be me.

Is there any way to speed up working with huge resolution files in photoshop other than going to performance and upping the RAM or just getting more RAM?
You can do things like reducing the undo count.. Might not want to though, it makes experimenting pretty frustrating at times
