it's kind of hard to tell what you're even going for having an upper lip and then just teeth? The nose looks weirder to me though, having said that. Also whatever brush you're using is horrid
Could you elaborate on what you mean by the nose looks weird? And yeah, the brush is terrible, I might clean the lines up if I have the time, but it was really only meant to be a short doodle.
When your mouth is closed your lower lip comes up above your upper front teeth, so aligning the lip and teeth perfectly like that looks pretty stupid to me
Haha, I agree. He has a bad case of underbite. Maybe he doesn't actually need to chew anything or eat or something, otherwise why would he have such an awkward jaw...well, who knows. :P
Could you elaborate on what you mean by the nose looks weird?
Well you've just done a strange hard outline that doesn't really tell us anything about the structure of the nose. It could be concave in your drawing for all we know. Try to show the planes. A skull with muscle and skin on it is just another object for drawing purposes, it has contours and faces. Describe those bumps and turns with more than just one line floating in space.
Here's a rough as balls sketch for a painting I'm doing for someone, I'm sure they won't mind if I post it for educational use:

Do you have any suggestions on how to get better at structure? I've been told repeatedly that my main problem is that I have no sense of ..uh..depth? I'm not sure if that's the right word, but basically conveying that the thing I'm drawing is a 3D object. I can do cubes and inanimate objects somewhat okay, but I have great trouble with things that are living.
Edit: Oh, also something people keep telling me is that my art foundations (?) are not good. As in, the basics.

an update on the painting I was doing before. I still have a lot of trouble picking colours and just end up abusing the colour adjustments in photoshop and get frustrated and stop. I guess it's something you get better at the more you do it

the problem with people that begin painting is that they think that if they spend a lot of time on a piece it might end up looking good. while at some point it may look acceptable you're not actually developing your skills.
what i'm trying to say is that you should master your techniques. do more studies. don't draw without a ref. move on to another piece.
right now you're kinda working on this, not knowing what you're doing and hoping it'll look good. you don't have full control of what you're doing. once you've done a couple master studies you'll know EXACTLY where to begin and what to do. you'll paint knowing exactly what to expect.
Although to be fair, it does rather good, so be proud of yourself for what you've made- you have some solid skills apparent here. I really dig the clothing and hair, so maybe work a bit more on the skin and facial anatomy.
i have noticed that i end up dropping my drawings with the thing on my mind that i have no clue what to do next. though sometimes i might just give up too easy but i still find it easier to just draw a completely new pose instead of trying to figure out why it looks wrong and what i need to fix and how

Something I just finished. I got the image from a flyer for some sort of prostitute that I found in a London phone box then I added the lil tangley bits in after.
Phhhhhhhhhppphhh, hate even trying to digital, help?

First time drawing weapon. Critique is appreciated.

i'm assuming you based it off a SCAR-L.
No ejection port, no cocking lever, the trigger guard pushes into the magazine well so that no bullets would ever be pushed up into the chamber, that barrel must be shooting 5mm BBs for how narrow it is, the scope is fused to the upper receiver, which isn't necessarily bad, it's just that yours looks like an attachment sight, so it should have a rail underneath it. the sight should also be a lot wider. the pistol grip should be a lot further back on the gun, right next to where the stock connects to the receiver. for the dimensions of the stock, this gun should be an assault rifle but it has the proportions of an SMG and it doesn't even do that right.
with regards to the anatomy, heads don't sit that far forward on necks, shoulders aren't that lumpy and small though they can be, her feet shouldn't be that small. i'd also say that her left (our right) hand looks kind of strange, like her palm is missing.
I don't think that's the trigger guard, I think it's just the fingers make it appear it's got a cutout.
Everything lintz said can be summed up as - use a lot of reference photos if you're trying to do real weapons. A lot of artists use real weapons for reference in fictional designs as well, which personally annoys the shit out of me because they're just gluing bits of gun together with greebles in between and it usually looks stupid- BUT most people don't seem to mind.
So the point is use a lot of reference, and pay a lot of attention to detail and keep function in mind when doing real or original weapons.
