Where would you sell prints like that? afaik selling prints depicting copyrighted characters & stuff is illegal and most places won't accept it
Almost all fan art falls under the fair use exemption. I sell my art on Etsy by having a store there. People place an order and then I place an order at Adoramapix to make and mail them the print. I make about $10 for each 11"x17" print (selling for $25), and I've sold about 20-30 so far. You can also put your work on deviantart or society6 and places like that but you'll get a much lower profit.
Spent the weekend drawing some style concepts/bragging rights for a possible freelance commission. Forgot it was under a 2 x 3 in format so I may have overdone the details just a little bit...

That's a pretty kickass style, especially with that face. Which artist(s) was it inspired by, out of curiosity?

Still just an early(ish) sketch, but I'm definitely feeling this is heading in the right direction.

i offered commissions for 5$ each one time and someone sent me a weird note anyway i sent my paypal to him and he suddenly sent me 20$
i tried to contact him and say he sent too much and he never replied so after like few days i drew whatever he wanted and sent the picture to him and he never replied
it was really weird
Oh man I wish I could draw as good as you guys.
I've made progress ever since I picked up drawing again last year but I'm still kinda shit at it. I just gotta keep practicing I guess.

Not sure about that drop lilyo
For the most part the forms aren't well defined, the lines are petted and butchered to a pulp, and the mark making is really nasty and overworked. Really doesn't look like you're learning much from straight ink sketching
I assume you used a graphite stick or similar clumsy medium for that portrait for it to come out so raggedy, I can forgive that because graphite sticks are so utterly appalling
If it was a pencil then shame on you you are a lot better than this
they're observation sketches i can't be assed to spend more than a few minutes per sketch for hws
E: also idk how to draw

Thanks, honestly my 'style' is pretty much a gumbo of other styles that I stole from artists that I liked. To name a couple, I don't necessarily take from Jamie Hewlett's art, but I resonate with his Gorillaz work. Adding a touch of Niklas Jansson doesn't hurt either. The face itself is actually something I stumbled upon while practicing digi paint, probably also stolen.

I want to believe.

How do you even make it opaque with colored pencils?
My pencils also freakout and smudge everything as soon as I use them to overlay another color.

Prismacolor pencils, and if you use cardboard make sure it's not the thick corrugated type or you cant really apply enough pressure to really fill in the grain. If blending two colors use the lighter tone first then overlap it with the darker, blend evenly with a tortillion or your thumb.

You'd do really well from counting how many lines you lay down in any place that requires a single line (which means pretty much anywhere). I also suggest if you insist on using shading in your pen drawings you should do some cross hatch exercises so you get a calmer and more controlled line. Right now your forms are all over the place and look like a muddy mess despite creating a generally precise form.
Your pencil portrait looks like it done by someone who is super angry. The lines are harsh and especially the glasses looks as if your main motive was to murder the paper or something. Work lighter and construct the form with general lines and shapes. Makes it easier to check for inconsistencies, symmetry, weight of line, etc.
You've got some generally good observations here, but your technique really needs a helping hand.
I quite like his scratchy aesthetic. If it's just for formal studies I don't see the issue - the aim is to gather and consolidate knowledge of the subject, not to refine a drawing or perfect a rendering style.
I'd be careful to use that style subjectively for anything other than studies though
I agree that with these studies it's not essential, but I think a less time-consuming technique would hone one's ability to quicker observe and replicate on paper. I guess it's not necessary to be quick, but I find high productivity is a great way to combat doubts and low confidence in what is allowed to taint that precious, precious paper.
Not saying that applies for everyone, but a lot of my issues have been that I got into the mindset of how time spent drawing correlates with quality of art. And that's either way not necessarily true. You can do a 5 minute master sketch that says more than a 5 hour amateur drawing. And for me to realize that I had to go through a lot of paper in a very short amount of time and make sure every new sketch was simpler and more efficient in communicating the forms I observed.

Perhaps you're not familiar with the sculptors I'm basing my sketches on? You should look them up, Brancusi, Giacometti, and Matisse, maybe the erratic sketching makes more sense if you look at their stuff. Though I agree I should get better at sketching more precisely, I've never really used a pen before for sketches, I quite like it. I'll look into cross hatching more, I only have a slight general idea how it's supposed to actually work.

WIP canvas.
Gold marker and acrylics markers, so far.
Anyone got a good idea how to round it off? I thought about maybe some stylised clouds or a pattern in the background( horizontally symmetrical and just below and above the capital C[?]).
Looks better in actuality than it does on the photograph because the gold doesn't work out in pictures.
I did a portrait of the character I posted recently.

Aaah thanks! I might do a capture or two if I get any more commissions. I normally do a rough sketch and then just paint it out on a single layer. David Rapoza is my idol
Currently drawing our characters from our current DnD campaign.
It's a bit unclean, and I'm not really satisfied with the lute or hands but it'll do for now.

Also, whoever linked to Loomis's work is a godsend; obviously I haven't mastered his teachings yet but I've gotten a lot better thanks to that book.

Some CC:
- Nose is too big, pushing the jaw too far down,
- Ear is just a circle
- Fingers are way too square
- The guitar's perspective looks off
- Your shadow values and blending seem weird, you should block in the basic shadows first and then start blending.
Practice is the key, simply the more you draw the better you get.
it's a lute

Nah, I don't think so. If you look closely, you can see that the lute is shaped like a sword (sharp edges). IDK how he's gonna play it thuogh.
