Your use of colour temperature is masterful.
how do
Been making concepts of characters for my school assignment o summarize a novel in 4-6 frames long comic, i chose "The Shadow over Innsmouth"

So I started working on developing a technique for myself to paint digitally as I would with oils, including using a palette and working from underpainting to color. I start off on a blank canvas, paint a layer of raw umber, sketch the figure by erasing into it, then doing the underpainting by further erasing into it as you would with oils, then working to add color as I learned in painting class. I refrain from using undo, adjustment layers, filters, free adjustment tool, eye dropper, or a grid. The hardest part is mixing colors in photoshop as there's big limitations for what saturation you can get for each layer of brightness as you mix, so I still have to use the color picker for fine tuning colors. I kind of like working this way.

Brilliant!
There is also a colour mixing tool that acts like the brushes in Sai in that it mixes colour realistically; might be a solution to the issues you encounter with the regular brush tool an saturation
Can I ask how you go about adding colour to monochrome images though? Whenever I try it look real dull and yuck

Dude, I love how you approach art in such a careful, professional way, at least it seems like that. I try to use you as an exemplar in how I should conduct my own efforts with making art.

Well it's different depending on what you're painting. If you're doing a figure or portrait you need to start with the background or environment, it's the only way to get a good reference on how your colors will relate. So I start off by painting the background and then I did his face by mixing a few colors using the shades of yellow ochre, india red, and terra rosa. It's a great palette to use when oil painting and you can get pretty much any color you want using it (our teacher actually makes us mix those 4 rows of values). I guess which value each part of his face is closest to and I start coloring it in. After I render out the basic face over the underpainting I start refining the color and values. After I get a good layer of color I start another one where I concentrate hard on each individual color as well as the shapes and forms of the face and any other detail or part of the painting I feel needs to be worked on some more.
I'm used to working on intervals of about a few hours per layer, so i would spend at least 3+ hours on each of the 3 layers, maybe more depending on what I'm trying to achieve with the piece. On this one I think I spent a bit less time as it was just a study to see how the technique works. Here's the 1st layer of color btw http://i.imgur.com/GInrAFW.png

Eh, it's just a habit I've developed. It's very hard to let loose now, I need to start working on personal concepts more rather than studies and observations.
First time posting my work here. I've been taking a drawing class for the last three weeks now, and I've been learning certain techniques, such as shading and atmosphere. This is a study I finished in less than half an hour. I'm actually kind of proud.

It's nothing special, but I couldn't draw nearly as good as I can now before taking this class.

A half-hour is not sufficient time to do a nice considered study of an object as complex as that imo, you should take your time.
i had nothing to do so i made a knight no reference or anything

omfg asdfghjkl it's slightly bigger than that but for some reason it's shrunken down like 5% making it blurrier than it is

I wanted to spend more time on it, but this was a homework assignment that I remembered I had after 9:30 P.M. It was late, I was already getting tired, and my mom was telling me to go to sleep. In so little time, though, I'm surprised at how much I got done.
I'll definitely try to work on preventing myself from rushing my work in the future. Even my better work so far is sloppier than I'm certainly capable of making. It's a bad habit that needs to die hard.

now he is a grey knight
It's bad and silly and use refs
refs are 4 chumps
refs are 4 chumps
I always challenge myself not to use references.... And then my drawings end up looking weird sometimes.
[sp]And when I say "challenge myself," I mean I'm too lazy to look them up.[/sp]
-snip nevermind this is really stupid "motivational" crap-

I use references to help me practice with techniques. You can't really draw well without practicing what you want to draw.
A post it note doodle

You got higher highlights on his skin than on the metal. something suspect there
He's a greasy fellow and he never gets around to polishing that damned armor

So I have a project which requires me to be the artist in a team of developers making a game.
I'm worried that half the other people, despite being on different courses are better at drawing.
So I went to try do some concept sketching, I got angry at my shitness and then had a panic attack.
This has happened before. I honestly don't know what to do.
Can any of you guys share any advice?
