I think it's easier to give you advice if you show us your art. And check out FZD School's videos. Feng is a master when it comes to concept art and he's got a ton of videos up.
So I have a project which requires me to be the artist in a team of developers making a game. I'm worried that half the other people, despite being on different courses are better at drawing. So I went to try do some concept sketching, I got angry at my shitness and then had a panic attack. This has happened before. I honestly don't know what to do. Can any of you guys share any advice?
Too vague.

Thanks for the link but this is traditional art I'm talking about, not digital.
I was making a sketch for a new painting and I thought I'd try some colours in photoshop. While I didn't manage to do that I got a bit carried away and did this. :D Now I need to think about the colours again...
The mouth is too wide, and there is something wrong with the skull construction imo. I mean, the left eye has gone way too far from the center, it must be partially covered by nose from this angle.

Embarrassement shouldn't be a factor at all, you can't become better if you can't show your work to others.

This is the reference I mostly used: http://files.1337upload.net/Barbarianette_18_by_Tasastock.jpg Thanks for the feedback!

I'm at a very basic level. I didn;t learn anything from my art teacher in school and for Advanced Higher, all my work was Photo Manipulations so before coming to Uni I hadn't drawn in Over a year.
Wicker try not to worry THAT much if it's just a course project. You're not expected to work on the next AAA title or anything
Wicker try not to worry THAT much if it's just a course project. Not to mention I imagine my group has high expectations seen as I am on an Art course.
I wish my scanner was bigger... Whatever the case, I made this piece as my single free project I got to do.
Mako mentioned triple A titles. just wondering if your course has anything to do with games design?
Yes. Everyone in our group is in a course catered towards games. I'm on "Computer Games (Art & Animation)" for example. [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] Right well this is what im up to, already taken me longer than it should have. It looks like crap, I was running into problems with things not lining up and proportions being wrong. I already hate it and don't want to continue. [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] After calming down and attempting a drawing on the back, the sheet of paper ended up torn and on the other side of the room before I even had time to think. What the fuck am I supposed to do!?
How did you pass the entry exams in the first place? Beeing this convinced of yourself and all.
There were no entry exams, just a port-folio submission. The basic answer is "I have no fucking idea."
And some more OC Mutilation. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13086361/0461e4f2691c57e473e9f6bdadf5fe60-d6zjich.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13086361/OC%27SAI/sophia.jpg[/t]

What the fuck am I supposed to do!?
Although you are drawing something from imagination, you can still draw from reference, so don't worry about conjuring stuff from thin air. The biggest problem with your drawing is you aren't measuring properly. The angles on the car are different to the angles you have drawn on paper. Hold your pencil up in front of you and look at the exact angle, then replicate that exactly on the paper. The same for scale, you need to be consistent and scale things relative to each other. I recommend "Drawing on the right side of the brain", it is a very good book which explains all of the fundamentals of drawing realistically. As for the here and now, what your group thinks is irrelevant. Obviously you want to do well in your course but if you're on the course in the first place then I'm sure you meet the skill requirements.

I was trying to scale things but then again, I reach a certain point and everything's cocked up. I'll try find that book and give it a read but whatever I'm doing that isn't drawing makes me feel like I'm wasting time - which is practically all the time so when I eventually calm myself enough to draw when I make one mistake it's like "fuck I don't have time to fix this or learn how to fix this" then shit just spirals out of control. Well my port folio didn't contain much sketching at all, whatever sketching skill I managed to demonstrate has been lost in the whole year I went without taking pencil to paper. [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] Have I mentioned that all my course-mates are skilled artists? Well that certainly doesn't fucking help matters.
didn't we go through this like 15 pages ago

Its a bad habit I don't tend to look at it till its too late either but this will help you spot mistakes a lot easier, and a lot sooner. Otherwise it can be hard to notice the issues in your drawing yourself until two things dont line up like they should, or all the details don't fit. By then its usually too late to want to fix it
Not making a whole shebang out of this, so I didn't want to make a thread, but not sure where to put it: I'm doing commissions if anybody is interested.

mirrored, still looks cool though
Mirrored never looks good
So hang on what does your portfolio look like? How did you get in?
This is what I submitted alongside a personal statement. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7mf13uv09dwo52p/S6qIV0HRyA [editline]2nd February 2014[/editline] That exact link, couldn't get a file small enough to attach in an email.
Mirrored never looks good
its not good on a technical level, it just looks nice "cool"
I made some skins for a movie me and my friend were making. [t]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/032/4/7/two_best_friends_play__lucas_kane_douchebag_by_fuzguy433-d74qdn5.png[/t] The other two were done really lazily but the first guy took me forever since I made him from scratch.
