Any of you folks on tumblr? I'm pretty passive about using it, but I'd love to follow more artists/social network/all that jazz. here's mine - http://fakecoin.tumblr.com/
I have a tumblr, but it's generally filled just with stuff I find that's neat, not necessarly arty stuff - link I do have an arty tumblr that I haven't updated in ages. I think from now on I will make an effort to post creative stuff there. It's at quietplacescomic.tumblr.com
I got this http://mrbigcheese.tumblr.com/ but I blog pretty much anything there. And I got this but I haven't even really set it up yet or started using it. I gotta figure out a way to get most of the people following me to this new one, otherwise it feels like a waste to start posting http://mrbigcheeseart.tumblr.com/
i exclusively post only my own stuff and follow only art blogs or blogs that just post general cool-looking tech/fashion. i don't think i've ever come across any of the usual tumblr stereotypes unless i was actively searching for them. overall i think it's a pretty useful site and it's helped get my name out there a little bit because i've been on the frontpage twice http://seanbarronart.tumblr.com/
my tumblr's http://tsunderelintz.tumblr.com but my art is only in my art tag and i primarily reblog everything.
mine is http://vinnamon-buns.tumblr.com and I draw little doodles from time to time and reblog things. You can assume everything under the reblog tag is not mine.
Also I done a poem about social awkwardness and romance. I hardly ever have the patience to read poetry (from recognised poets or internet casuals) so I dunno what 'value' it has, but I think it captures the scenario pretty well. Beating hearts swiftly still’d by nervous insult, or flaming face; tender hands sweat’ly held, and stumbling words, a lack of grace; the urge to run - to flee! and leave without a kiss, embrace; regret throughout the journey home, a cold and lonely, empty place.
Do I have to make a tumbler now?

Does anyone here go to Savannah College of Art and Design or know someone who does?
Did you do any networking or anything to attract notice? or do the tags do the work for you
You need to get featured in the popular tags like art, artists on tumblr, illustrations etc
Can you do such a thing under a really competitive tag without being incredibly eye-catching and good, or without doing fanart jizz for topical stuff or whatever? [editline]4th February 2014[/editline] I.E. Sean's hotline miami thing
if I wrote a prologue in a first person narrative of the main character, then transition into a third person objective narrative of the same character for the rest of the book be a bad thing? I'm thinking it might be a confusing transition.

I'm thinking it might be a confusing transition.
It probably would be a confusing transition unless you clearly showed that the first-person prologue had some sort of narrative significance and used a framing device (i.e., a first-hand account written by the character that the rest of the book is about, like a letter that might open an X-Files episode, etc). Also a good forum for writing advice

Also a good forum for writing advice
so would a first person narrative of the main character recollecting and describing a past plot event, then moving onto a third person narrative of the same character while they're looking back on said event be a decent framing device? also thanks for that link.
I would be critical of any book in which that happened, it doesn't sound like a good idea. Dissonant storytelling If you write from the perspective of a different character who sees the main character in third person that could achieve what you're after

Usually some of them would start following you and feature your stuff from time to time too, but you gotta have a blog just for art. You also message any blog that has anything to do with your art if it is pop art related or whatever. Basically get anyone to reblog it for you and you're good. I got over 2,500 notes on this one thing I put together for a Studio Ghibli movie just cause I got 3 big pages to reblog me. I got like 300 notes on the Breaking Bad piece cause a popular blog reblogged it for me.

I'll just end up reworking it into a straight third person perspective then, as I really want the prologue to be based around the main character and her connection to this event.

Was there a reason behind it?

Steppenwolfe by Herman Hesse does really cool stuff in regards to narration. especially when the steppenwolfe picks up the book, "treatise on the steppenwolfe" with which it goes from the first person narration of the main character into a sorta omnipotent narration about him. plus reading it means you can act more pretentious and talk about existentialism and contemporary Faustian literature so that's always a plus, too.

Cheers for the info. I'll probably hold off a while longer on making a tumblr and/or DA account though, I don't feel like my stuff is worth looking at yet.. wanna be real good first [editline]4th February 2014[/editline]
The Catcher in the Rye had a very cool unreliable narrator in first person thing going on I'm not going anywhere with this, this conversation just reminded me of that book and now I'm sharing my brain farts on the internet
But there's Salinger and then there's this random guy I think distinctions need to be made there
What can I do/need to do to improve my photo manipulation? This is my first time so be gentle :) Original: [t]https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t31/1465749_10151972204274523_1747499681_o.jpg[/t] Edited: [t]http://i.imgur.com/MGqaZAG.jpg[/t]
Aye, but have you ever had a piece featured on its own merits, sans any connection to any existing popular franchise?
I have a post that I made on Tumblr a few months back. I found a gif online (may have been in LMAOPics of all places) and added the text 'Fuck u paglet'. It's got like 60,000 likes/reblogs http://thesuperbacon.tumblr.com/post/56513725557/fuck-u-paglet-image-source-unknown So sometimes it's just about being a dickhead and luck-of-the-draw [editline]4th February 2014[/editline]
The Catcher in the Rye had a very cool unreliable narrator in first person thing going on I'm not going anywhere with this, this conversation just reminded me of that book and now I'm sharing my brain farts on the internet
Catcher in the Rye was written in the style of a book written by a 14 year old ballbag though; that was the framing device. I don't think StupidUsername67's situation is that relevant to Catcher - he's talking more about a sudden switch of perspective rather than an ongoing narration style
Did you do any networking or anything to attract notice? or do the tags do the work for you
complete luck really if i'm honest the hotline miami thing was perfect timing - the painting wasn't even good but it got to the front page of any google search for the game for months. that said it didn't do anything for my tumblr - i made it before i was even on tumblr so i fucked that up the two things i've had on the frontpage were a combination of being very ~fashionable~~ and getting lucky [t]http://24.media.tumblr.com/90746059c24b6e40310a5392b2f512f1/tumblr_mvrey3KyVz1s32mjoo1_1280.jpg[/t] [t]http://24.media.tumblr.com/b1e7dfbedab5ae70d706143c9d7dc2fa/tumblr_mzi5t6bkiM1s32mjoo1_1280.jpg[/t] this low-poly shit is super popular at the moment. there was still a lot of luck involved though - the first one, the deer, laid dormant for weeks before it suddenly got a thousand notes. i guess it just takes one reblog and then you get an avalanche of it overall it hasn't really changed anything for me. i have more than doubled my followers with each of those posts so yeh i'm getting noticed for other work more but, where-as the low-poly stuff has like 3000 notes, everything else i make still hovers around 10 to 20 notes
So you don't message editors or other blogs like Lil said?
no i didnt even know that was a thing
