does drawing stability with a tablet come with constant use? I always have trouble with keeping my lines straight. I also feel like it's a hand-eye coordination thing, which is why I wish Cintiq's and other screened tablets weren't so expensive
Just in case you weren't aware, you can temporarily rotate (hotkey R in photoshop, click and drag) your canvas and use your natural wrist motions to help you get better lines.
I don't use photoshop, I've been using Manga Studio 5 :V
Well there's one problem... Also you can do some hand exercises before drawing. Draw rows of vertical straight lines of equal thickness and length, then increase the thickness as you go down the page, but keep each row the same thickness. It'll help you get used to the tablet's pressure sensitivity and orientation.
The problem is I'm not using Photoshop..? I don't really see that as a valid reason, there are plenty of other art programs

Fingerless is good - just something to stop your hand from sticking to the plastic surface of the tablet so that you can smoothly slide over it. Use your whole arm as well, not just your wrist. Move from the elbow or shoulder. You can ghost lines as well, just like you would on paper. Keep your fingers on CTRL+Z and just draw a bunch of lines and undo each one until you get one that fits Bear in mind you can always use layers and the line tool to get things right. It's not cheating

From my experience GIMP and Paint.net both have a different feel than Photoshop. They're just not optimized as well for digital painting and probably tablets either.
SAI, Corel Painter, Sketcbook Pro, Art Rage What I'm trying to say is that, I don't think my problem has anything to do with the program, drawing good lines seems to be a physical thing, rather than the program's fault
What tablet do you have and how long have you used it for?
Bamboo create, which i've had almost for a year now but only recently just started using it regularily I'd say maybe half a month? I also think the glove thing might actually help, sometimes my hand makes the farting noise while drawing :v:
Mate the glove will change your drawing life forever I ain't even joking
another thing is, do not take it slow when trying to draw a straight line, that just causes your hand to shake and your line will be about as uneven as it gets. broad, sweeping, confident strokes are what cuts it. the same advice should be given to you in life drawing. don't feather, be confident. mistakes happen, so embrace them and move on.
We have like 50 Bamboo Create at one of the computer labs at school and no one ever uses them. I feel so bad when we run out of the Intuos and I have to give out the Bamboos to people :(
I like Bamboos I have to use an Intuos at my volunteer work sometimes and the pens feel really soft to push down on. Maybe I'm just more used to my bamboo
It's a hobby, I didn't want to spend upwards of $249.
It's a hobby, I didn't want to spend upwards of $249.
Yeah but the bamboo is more expensive than Huion or Monoprice tablets lol
I was not aware of other options so I went with the most prominent brand Well, just the first result on google

this is the problem because wacom is the only brand that most people know about and so they only buy wacom which means that wacom remains the dominant brand which means that people only know about wacom and so on and so forth. there's no denying that wacom tablets are good. but there's also no denying that there are other brands of nigh equivalent quality for far less, monoprice for example.
I just buy second hand I got a decent quality Bamboo Fun Medium (perfectly large enough for any sort of work) for roughly $110NZD The only issue is that I don't think you can buy the pens for this model through retail nowadays

If ya need one though let me know, its a little beat up but I have a spare, since the wire went a few years back on my old fun tablet. I keep any useful spare parts like that, and its my second spare so I dont really need it much.

I'll keep it in mind =D

You can often work more accurately if you make your strokes in the central area of your field of vision but without actually tracking the line with your eyes, as you can see more at once and have a fixed viewpoint. It allows for faster, more flowing linework for things like figures too, which is great if you find yourself petting lines because they're just too long to achieve in one stroke.
Who do I contact about having the friendly vote option removed from all of my posts.
I don't use photoshop, I've been using Manga Studio 5 :V
Manga Studio 5 (or Clip Studio Paint) does the canvas rotation thing too
Thanks for the tips guys! :D
