It's a temporary cache file that works as virtual memory for you to work in Photoshop.
You can't delete it whilst working on the image, because Photoshop is using it for the image.
You really shouldn't use such a small disk as a cache disk if you intend to work with documents of such a high resolution.
How do you change the cache disk?
How do you change the cache disk?
Edit->preferences->performance iirc
Go to File > Preferences > performance and change your disk if you have a secondary one with more memory. You really should only be keeping your OS and important programs on your SSD if it's that small. If you have PS on it it will start using disk space as virtual memory if it runs out of ram.
UUUUUUUUUUUUGH getting so incredibly pissed off with photoshop.
I'm editing a huuuuge A1 file with 103 layers, but my 45gb free solid state drive is getting filled within 5 minutes of editing. Quitting photoshop empties it no problem, but when it fills I'm not even able to fucking save. So if I forget to save and empty my scratch disks every 4 minutes I completely waste my time because I can't save.
How the actual fuck do I delete this cunt when I'm in photoshop?

So sick of redoing bullshit because of photoshop can't handle it's shit

I am very curious what kind of artistic endeavor required 103 layers

He posted it here earlier - he did 103 drawings and then put them all into one file.

Wanted an opinion on if i was good or not, and there's no harsher critic than the internet.

You completely missed his point.
Well yeah anyways it's bad, but you don't necessarily need to feel bad about it. First and foremost, if you want to be 'good' at digital art, you need to do studies. Perspective, anatomy, color, blending, all of that shit. It's not as fun as continually making terrible works of art but it's how you get better.
Next, work from reference so you can compare why your piece is fucked up and why good works aren't fucked up. Not only will it help you learn specific techniques that you're shit at, but also what techniques you didn't even know you could be shit at. It's all a learning experience.
My first piece of advice is not to do color. Start in greyscale while you get the hang of putting things into a digital workspace and making them not shit. Once you're ready to work with color then you can start playing around with it.
basically to elaborate on my kneejerk response, come back when you've done all of that and have more experience and have the ability to actually judge your own art with an artist's eye.
Start waaaay further back than what Biscuit is talking about. Don't touch paint until you can draw at least adequately. Draw primitives from life (with a pencil)
Thanks for the info and tips, i shall now leave this thread, and return in due time.
That approach might be a bit counter-productive, though, because unless you're super into it drawing only to learn can be really boring. And it's important to be having fun as well (especially if you're 13), otherwise you'll have to force yourself to do it and probably quit
i dont think it's right to say "YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO DRAW WITH A PENCIL"
it really depends what you want to do. if you can learn to draw purely using digital mediums then i don't see the problem with that. if you can learn to paint without learning to draw, although that'd be incredibly difficult especially when it comes to perspective, then whatever, go for it
i imagine there's a lot of environment artists and matte painters n stuff who are very average at drawing
[editline]4th March 2014[/editline]
i mean i couldn't recommend avoiding it but also i wouldn't put it down as an infallible rule
I started painting with trackPoint on thinkpad:

using ms paint:

Age has nothing to do with how well you can draw
Of course it does... For quite a lot of reasons. Your observational skills improve steadily as you get older, your ability to hand eye coordinate improves, your patience improves, your mentality improves, etc. Remember when we were all 10 years old and saw people as blobby stick figures because we had no idea how to properly look at something?
Trying basic colour theory/minimalist stuff. I really enjoyed doing this actually. Any crits?
[img_thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8557473/facepunch/Drawing/jbridge.png[/img_thumb]
I tried to base it around realy structured decisions and rules.
-Limited, none complicated form
-Constant flow and movement
-Limited colour pallet (Everything but the blue is sourced from the sun)
the sun would have to be above that bridge in order to produce that shadow
Age has nothing to do with how well you can draw
you never stop learning. for people who start learning to draw at similar ages, age has everything to do with how good you are.
the sun would have to be above that bridge in order to produce that shadow
Im not sure that it would, but ill have a think about it, Ill block this out in max and have a look.
Thanks though! Something to think about

So the past couple of nights, I've been livestreaming sketches, while people watching suggest what I draw next.

May not be the prettiest thing ever, but hey, it sure was a confidence booster. Plus I guess its good practice.
[editline]5th March 2014[/editline]
Also it was fun to draw a bunch of different shit I've never attempted before so yea.
Does anyone here have any tips for beginners wanting to learn to draw?
I'm mostly thinking about books about the human body and learning to draw it.

It's not any different with much smaller/less layery files either; it just takes an hour instead of 10 minutes to fill up. Either way, incredibly fucking annoying :(

I had to keep them separate so I could arrange them :c
