Havn't done any digital painting in a loooooong time, so I decided to get back into the flow of things by doing a quick sketch based off of photo integration.
Basically I wanted to create an ornate looking rug in as short amount of time as possible in the event I would have to do something quickly for a deadline.
Here is the photo I used:

Here is the end result of about 45 minutes:

It was a lot of fun and I am glad I decided to start up painting again!
Just bought some high-quality felt-tip pens. The best $15 I've spent in a long time, especially since I don't have to fudge around with sensitivity.

Hoping it will elevate my work to illustrator quality.
Materials just make things easier, you shouldn't rely on them to improve your work. You should have just bought a pack of micron pens, they're amazing.

drew a Savarna getting her heartstrings tugged
This is a major update from last time, I swear!!

Finished the character at last!!!
Still need to do the background properly, but I'll push it off till the weekend... haha...
Not bad actually, looks a lot more lively than your usualy stuff, I like it. The torso is way too distracting though, you're still basically having the same sharpness throughout the entire figure. Make the right side of her face softer on the edge as well as down at her neck and you'll see it'll look a lot more volumetric. A very sharp edge creates a strong contrast which pops that area forward.
made a basic attack combo

Black outlines are usually a big no-no in pixel art unless you do it stylistically. I would clean them up a bit and change them to a darker colour of whatever they are outlining. You might want to add some basic shading as well.

It's less about their improving my work and more about making it easier to do fine details without having to worry as much about the materials.
They are pretty good pens, though. Best one is 0.15 mm, for fine details and shading.
Also they are micron pens :v:

Was bored of my lecture. I could of slept in class. Instead I sketched this.

Micron pens are $3 each and they go as small as 0.05 mm I believe. I have 0.05, 0.3, 0.8, 1, and the brush tip one. They're awesome.
[QUOTE=dnqboy;44290798]I need some advice to make this more realistic. You can tear it apart as much as you want:

Start by getting rid of the black outlines.

never get time to drawe anymore :/
I'm working on a new character concept sketch at the moment (yes anthro) and just can't quite seem to get these legs looking right so kinda just looking for a quick opinion. It's not a big project or anything important i'm working on but this seems to be a common issue for me
[t]http://i.imgur.com/qIyPSqz.png[/t]
Why is the back leg popping forward? at least flat or almost seeming closer than the front leg at the end. Maybe its just the sketch line thickness in which case it wouldn't matter but i'm not sure if it's something else :v:

Well, for starters, is he/she supposed to be walking on tip toes, or is it just a kangaroo or something?

Its furry shite if you somehow missed the tail, so not a kangaroo specifically but yes digitigrade.
Then bend its leg more. Looks more like a skinny human walking on tiptoes right now.

A fully bent leg is impractical for a two legged creature, not being meant for such weight bearing. Its a humanoid anthropomorphic animal, a furry. I personally use a cross between animal and human leg more similar to a human with an animal morphed foot although some do use the more bent leg style your suggesting. the leg posture is approximately based on my own leg standing on toes (that being how I usually walk for unknown reasons)
I appreciate the anatomy suggestions and all but i'm asking about the layering issues I'm having more than the anatomy, since I am fairly happy with that as it is for the purposes
Look at a meerkat or cat characters from overgrowth. You're just drawing a human leg on its tiptoes. The layering issues are looking like issues because of how thin the leg is and you put the knee of the back leg right behind the back of the kneecap of the front leg which makes it look as though its on the same plane as the front leg, and the outlines are also thicker than the front leg.

Thank you for the suggestion but considering it is a design for myself to suit my own needs I think I can use whichever variation of furry leg I prefer :v:
Were I drawing someone else's character at the moment (like the overgrowth models for example) then this would be a very helpful discussion thank you
edit:
I had tried lifting it up and away a little before but then it just looked a bit dumb and disconnected. Must be doing something wrong in that, i'll go try again and see if i cant thin the lines out a bit while I'm at it so they are messing with my view

He's right though, it may look deceptively ok because it looks like it's walking or starting to fall forward, but if you drew it in a static pose and it had those legs but it was standing on tiptoe it would look unbalanced and weird. It's relevant to what you were asking as well because having better anatomy knowledge will allow you to draw much better spatially, with your figures in perspective and shit. What you're doing atm is just like an elevation of a figure, flat as a pancake. There's no spatial definition, and the back foot is larger than the front foot, so that whole leg shape comes toward the viewer because it matches the other one but is bigger.

First image is about two years old, the second is less than a week ago. Thoughts and criticism are welcome.
Does this look better? I removed the outlines and redid a lot of the coloring and such.
