Should I know who these guys are?
Should I know who these guys are?
They're concept artists. No, you shouldn't.
they're basically the most prolific concept artists in the industry today so if you have an interest in that field then probably yes if not then no i guess not [editline]22nd March 2014[/editline] blocking out an idea for something
I just realized I don't know much about anything relevant to today's industry. What sites do you go to
conceptart.org most likely.
Is conceptart not disgusting anymore? It keeps changing themes and crashing and undergoing maintenance all the time
I just realized I don't know much about anything relevant to today's industry. What sites do you go to
i dont know what to say really there's not a site that keeps you up to date with this stuff. i'd honestly just google a bunch of films and games you like and see who worked on them. if it's someone who is freelance then you're probably off to a great start in finding other similar people. here are some names off the top of my head: feng zhu - transformers, founder of probably one of the most prolific design schools in terms of internet exposure sparth - halo 4 noah bradley - go-to guy for magic the gathering darren bartley ben louis michael kutsche - alice in wonderland, john carter, loads of other bad films (but his design work is great) ian mcque simon stalenhag kekai kotaki - guild wars 2 there's a few names on that list that don't really explicitly state what projects they've worked on but their work is incredible and, based off blogger and twitter n stuff, they seem to move in the important people circles

Have some wip animation bits. There's probably mistakes here and there. Tried to add some bounce on the landing. I'll add some camera movements and camera shake towards the end eventually. Cleaned up this guy from last time. This will have camera movements of it's own later on.
wait which industry are u talking about
monkeygod don't interrupt when I'm making a bad joke Edit: what the shit no automerge? sorry this is all spiraling out of control help
here are some names off the top of my head:
I can add a couple of famous guys who draw soldiers\robots\all this kind of stuff. Aaron Beck - avatar, elysium Ben Mauro - elysium again Greg Broadmore - that awesome mech from district 9 and another stuff Actually, there is a lot of cool guys. In other news: have a small world war z study. I love this moment so much. [t]https://31.media.tumblr.com/92e6809dee5fdb65a9cbfaa9244e8acc/tumblr_n2u1xbHzpf1rttuq5o1_1280.jpg[/t]
maybe its not the drawing maybe its because i literally took a physical picture of it
Not even sure what you mean by this, all I can say is the issues are definitely in the drawings, the quality of the photograph isn't relevant in this case :v:
but it was bad lighting in general. All those poses are drawn based off a reference not guesstimated. Maybe i just need to retake the picture and stop erasing the background paper of it. That's probably why you see the ugly halo around it and looking at it now, it is kinda awkward.
Even if you ref'd them, you're obviously just trying your luck through 99% of it. You're piling lines on top of lines on top of lines until it somewhat approximately looks like a human being standing a certain way if you squint your eyes. In this way you are guessing the anatomy. You got ten incorrect lines, then you pick one that looks passable and carve it in heavier than the already totally opaque other ones. Draw naked people, also ditch the stylised faces until you can handle three dimensions. Good manga style or cartoons etc. are the deft simplification of forms. If you're starting at the end product, doing simplistic drawings of forms that you don't understand, then you're drawing as a child draws.
Do you know any websites or videos that explains the anatomy, particularly for drawing or sketching? For some strange reason i can't find a good one, and the one's that do apparently make you pay subscription.
For such a big subject you should look at getting a book as opposed to watching a video, if you're serious. There are a lot of different authors/artists that you might be recommended, the most touted is Andrew Loomis. Luckily there's been a pdf collection up for ages so you don't even have to buy a book if Loomis is the direction you choose. http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/
Based on this CC on colour mixing and everything.
Values are all wrong. Close one eye, unfocus the other, "read" the tones of both images. Should help you see the problems with the whole shape too.

So, Mako asked if I could put an apple in front of me and draw it... and that's what I did. Or tried to do, at least.

The sign is kinda cheesy (looks great though) and the fire on the cab @ left doesn't look very convincing under scrutiny, but all in all you've been on quite the roll this week, Chesty. For the fire I think the shape of it implies it would be thicker towards the bottom, mayhaps?
do i or do i not post android tits i think i'll err on the side of not posting it
So, Mako asked if I could put an apple in front of me and draw it... and that's what I did. Or tried to do, at least.
That's a step in the right direction, but he said "just line" and you shaded it. The shading kind of masks how accurately you can capture the shape of the apple, so maybe try again without shading. Just look at the apple, and draw the lines that make up the shape in your vision. Don't bother with shading at all right now, just train yourself to see lines and curves of an object and not your brain's symbol for it.
