Sorry, when I said "lately" I really meant 5 years ago :v:
This page just got a whole lot more penises than I've ever wanted to see.
If you want to get into art you're going to have to grow up a bit and learn to accept the human form in all it's glory. I've not had to do life-drawing before but many time's I've had to look at it, study it, write about it and all the rest.
Sorry to say that starting out with things like character design is also waaay wrong, get some basics down, draw primitives to train your lines and ellipses and that And yeah definitely improve your drawing before you step into painting (or even value of any kind) is my advice
Don't limit yourself to a lower level/more foundation oriented medium because you're new at drawing, especially if this is a hobby and you're not trying to get your skills great before a specific date. If you limit yourself to drawing and doing studies and don't do other things you might be interested in, chances are you'll get bored and pissed off and not want to do it any more. All things in moderation; focus on the foundations but you're still allowed to play with paints and value and texture and all the rest of it
another thing about drawing the same character over and over is to... draw the same character over and over. familiarise yourself with every aspect of that character. i had to deal with this when doing my character design assignment at uni, it was hard at first, trying to keep it all the same but eventually you get into a flow and it just clicks and you're able to generate that design. granted, i'm still not very good at keeping it there but at the very least you can tell it's supposed to be the same person i guess. This applies to anything -- not just artistic endeavors.

i'm not sure i understand how that green bounce light is working but the colours are gorgeous anyways
Hey guys, I've got to create a Psychedelic 60s Festival poster for Monday. Catch is it's to all be done in Illustrator, which I have no experience in bar class tutorials. I know exactly how I would go about making the Text look appropriate in Photoshop - using the free transform warp tool. Can someone help me out and point me to a tool that's equivalent to this that I've possibly missed? Or any way of replicating it's effects? I'm totally stuck here.

[editline]30th March 2014[/editline] How would I go about Isolating the Warp's result from the Text? When I click on it, it selects the original text (invisible) and the path but I can't actually pickup and separate what the result of the warp was..
So, my sister showed my parents Frozen, and they love it! They asked me if I can make something similar, I shamelessly said yes, so here goes nothing... at least it's a start... Aiming to finish this in a week without procrastinating too much...
I just watched Frozen for the first time, tonight, and it reminded me a lot of what you did, so I went snooping back 2 weeks to find your original post and make sure that you had actually done that on purpose. I guess my point is, great job for representing that character with an awesome painting! The finished product looks really great and feels pleasant.

Personally I derive pleasure from improving/succeeding at things rather than just fucking around, so I would usually advocate pushing foundations, pushing skills and so on I mean of course if it's just an occasional fancy of someone's to draw and they never plan to go anywhere with it they should do whatever they want. Serious advice is for people with serious aspirations
i wanted to make a final fantasy styled logo thingy
very weird combining sharpness and smoothness on the edges like that I assume one is the result of the brush and the other is where you erased back

Right now I don't have a lot of free time to focus on improving "right" (architecture is very time consuming), so I just practice the way I am used to, by doodling and trying new things out of the blue. I currently don't have a time limit to improve, but maybe I will try some practicing during summer or something. Right now it's 30 minute doodles and maybe a reference or two. I'll definitely crank up my technicals during any free time and after I'm dobe with university. Thanks for the advice :)
it was the font :v

[t]http://i.imgur.com/dpvDhPH.jpg[/t] I'm starting to do some drawings again. Can someone point out some problems with this one?
Er, it's quite stylised so the only thing i could say is that your lighting seems to contradict itself a little in places.

Maybe you should work with a flatter Cubist style if you plan to have merging shapes, if not then more definition of the 3D forms would allow the viewer to better appreciate the concept without having to strain reading it. On a separate note, I don't know which ones of these I should use for bragging rights so I need ya'll's opinion. for left one, for right one. Can barely tell whats going on in the right one, the left one is amazing tho

Or if I want to pay someone to teach me to draw penises, which I also don't. Sweet! I think I just avoided taking advice that would lead me down a path of seeing other people's penises; an occurrence that that increases the farther a person's life is from my concept of success. Seriously though, I don't need a liberal arts degree, thanks. I'd have better luck writing "Sucker" all over my resume in red crayon, at least then I could tell them it was a cruel prank. I'll stick with a business degree for my career.
Sort of mixture here. First I did a pencil sketch of the window in my room (observation!), then I threw a character of mine in the front (fun!). I tried to add depth by making the farther-away things blurrier and the closer things sharper, and ended up putting some colors on top. Tell me whatcha think!

You obviously don't understand art and appreciate it fully if your just going to be that arrogant. Nudity is a big thing in art, I've seen hundreds of nude paintings by various artists - including some people I know well. I've seen examples of photography too: no actual genitalia were visible but I'm just continuing my point. Your gonna have to get used to seeing a lot of cocks or your just going to limit your potential a hell of a lot. I genuinely can't understand your attitude right now.
