Wow, you have a horrible attitude. You obviously don't understand art and appreciate it fully if your just going to be that arrogant. Nudity is a big thing in art, I've seen hundreds of nude paintings by various artists - including some people I know well. I've seen examples of photography too: no actual genitalia were visible but I'm just continuing my point. Your gonna have to get used to seeing a lot of cocks or your just going to limit your potential a hell of a lot. I genuinely can't understand your attitude right now.
You must not understand art if you're going to quantify it so strictly. I'll be good at drawing what I practice drawing. If that's not the nude form (Which it isn't) it's because I find that aspect of art uninteresting. If I'm bad at oil painting it will be because I hate oil paint, it's gross when it gets on you and stuff *yuck but it won't affect me until someone holds a gun to my head and screams "OIL PAINT THE BEST PENIS YOU CAN OR I'LL BLOW YOUR *$&$^# BRAINS OUT!!"
What an ignorant, closed minded way of thinking. This is nothing about knowing how to draw a penis, it's just part of your fucking body. What do you think, are people just supposed to draw a lump there when doing figure studies? No, because we're not 5 year olds still grossed out and giggling at the idea of another person's genitalia. Do yourself a favor and grow up.
Only if I want to draw penises, which I don't. Or if I want to pay someone to teach me to draw penises, which I also don't. Sweet! I think I just avoided taking advice that would lead me down a path of seeing other people's penises; an occurrence that that increases the farther a person's life is from my concept of success. Seriously though, I don't need a liberal arts degree, thanks. I'd have better luck writing "Sucker" all over my resume in red crayon, at least then I could tell them it was a cruel prank. I'll stick with a business degree for my career.
Why are you having a cry about seeing penises? Do you think that the more dicks you see the more likely you are going to turn gay? Do you think that if you get caught drawing a dick and not making faces and going 'ew' then people will think you're gay? Or are you like 10 years old? The latter is excusable; the other two mean you need to grow up
Sort of mixture here. First I did a pencil sketch of the window in my room (observation!), then I threw a character of mine in the front (fun!). I tried to add depth by making the farther-away things blurrier and the closer things sharper, and ended up putting some colors on top. Tell me whatcha think!
Perhaps restrict the amount of fun you're having at first depending on what you want to improve on. For example if you want to improve on your ability to successfully create the scene you're envisioning, work on just your observational drawing. You're coloring the piece and adding a character and that improves your illustrative senses and you're learning from mistakes and improving on them. It's not a bad piece, but don't think about creating a finished illustration as much in the beginning. For example here's some observational drawings I did during high school. This sort of stuff helped me a lot. I don't have to worry as much about being able to properly recreate a scene now, and now I'll start focusing more and more on personal illustrative work rather than observational stuff, otherwise I would be cutting corners and developing some bad habits (though I guess depending so much on observational drawing right now is sort of a bad habit in itself for illustrators) [t]http://i.imgur.com/AwsLY.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/dLEhn.jpg[/t]

I think boone is easily one of the most helpful person in this thread and also everything he makes is really good that's what I think!
would anyone in the thread be down for doing some collaborative shit sometime in the near future? think it'd be rad to pool our talents together for something
I would be!!! I remember these paintings that 4chan used to do (the actual arty types on 4chan not the clip-art types) where they'd start with a really really loose splash of colours and then by working on it a little then passing it off to the next user, they'd end up with a really nice and interesting drawing. Sometimes you'd get branches coming off, where two users took the same image in one of the steps and worked on it to their own design, then passed it off. I can contribute a little. I gave myself some mild joint overuse syndrome in my wrists from too much [sp]wanking[/sp] dishwashing and I'm supposed to rest my hands but I'm still keen!
I would say yes, but all of my drawings are just insane black and white scribbles. So I dunno if you'd want that crap :v:

I understand how figure drawing and studying is important, but I'm pretty sure you can do it while avoiding the genitalia (don't draw a lump, just don't draw anything there or find a figure wearing a thong or something). I mean I'm not afraid to draw nudity, but others are, so give them a chance. Galactic, stop being such a crybaby :v:
would anyone in the thread be down for doing some collaborative shit sometime in the near future? think it'd be rad to pool our talents together for something
We could each choose what we're best at and try to create one awesome image by each working mostly on our specific talent. Passing it from one person to another till we get to an awesome end point. And then passing it around some more.

But humor aside, i've never done collab works before, so it would be awesome to try this thing.

I make determinations based on what I like, not based on what other people care about; But I'm sure as hell not going to draw anything because you think I'm a baby.
I'm good with... Actually I'm mediocre at everything :(, maybe skulls and hands? I xan do those best.
Unless the work is overtly sexual and arousing in nature,I doubt anyone except for extremely small minded people would give you shit just for some limp dicks and boobs
Nope, nudity is generally percieved as perversion in Egypt, even partial nudity is hardly tolerable and most people here who draw these can't get to share them except with other practised artists
are you saying you're going to be an artist who never draws humans? or any bipedal with human characteristics? [editline]31st March 2014[/editline] automerge break
Damn ninjas [editline]31st March 2014[/editline] GAH
Nope, nudity is generally percieved as perversion in Egypt, even partial nudity is hardly tolerable and most people here who draw these can't get to share them except with other practised artists
wow sucks to live in a muslim country [editline]31st March 2014[/editline] GHRHARHR
I can draw humans without dicks and nipples thank you very much.
I can draw humans without dicks and nipples thank you very much.
but why? the best way to learn how to draw people who are wearing clothes is to learn how to draw people without clothes and people without clothes have nipples and dicks sure you can leave them out of your drawing (which is immature and will look weird) but you're still gonna have to see them if you want to learn how to draw humans protip: most illustrative art of any sort includes a human element in it somewhere
but why? the best way to learn how to draw people who are wearing clothes is to learn how to draw people without clothes and people without clothes have nipples and dicks sure you can leave them out of your drawing (which is immature and will look weird) but you're still gonna have to see them
I draw a lot of figures without clothes, but I never get to look at any. All I did was study how muscles look and relate to each other. Leaving the dick out simply means "I respect how you might not be comfortable looking at a flat image of penis so I didn't put it there". Also to clarify my country is that way because of education and not religion. [editline]31st March 2014[/editline] A lot of educated people may understand why nudity is important to learn illustration.
Can't you just draw them and not tell anyone?
Can't you just draw them and not tell anyone?
This is how you improve very slowly I sometimes do anyway
but why? the best way to learn how to draw people who are wearing clothes is to learn how to draw people without clothes and people without clothes have nipples and dicks sure you can leave them out of your drawing (which is immature and will look weird) but you're still gonna have to see them if you want to learn how to draw humans protip: most illustrative art of any sort includes a human element in it somewhere
Because it's culturally unacceptable where he lives. Because I don't like too. Because it doesn't reflect her sexuality. Because he/she finds it degrading. Not everyone has to learn the way you learned and no one has to fit your opinion of maturity. Some people just have reasons for doing things, and for a small minority those reasons have lead to them growing up long before they should. I wouldn't be arguing for my sensibilities (and I wasn't at first, this escalated from a penis joke) if I didn't know those people exist. But I am now because they shouldn't have to defend their choices.
would anyone in the thread be down for doing some collaborative shit sometime in the near future? think it'd be rad to pool our talents together for something
I want to code a twitch paints game.

It's a personal choise imo.
Well, actually you don't need to know how to draw dicks to be able do draw humans. It's a personal choise imo.
Does everything you draw have to arouse you
it's not about arosual lol, it's about my personal aesthetics. Yeah, it's kind of funny, but that's how it works for me.
