I'm redesigning my website, still haven't updated it with new content and the about section is a work in progress; anyone have any thoughts/feelings/opinions (not so much about the content because that's getting an overhaul anyway)? I'm pretty new to web development so any feedback is appreciated! www.robbobin.com
The bottom copyright bar would look better without the couple of translucent bars. The text doesn't make much sense either. "Robin Wild Copyright 2013 Copyright" is what it says translated. Portfolio images should always have fast loading images, so make sure that the thumbnails are low filesize images, but the images they link to are the original ones. I'd probably do something with the menu, like changing how it looks when you're hovering over one, etc, etc. And your shop link does not work.

Thanks dudes, all helpful stuff! The thumbnails are already small images, aren't they? I'll sort the about section to 3 columns and remove the copyright (?? are you sure it serves no purpose, I'm completely oblivious when it comes to this stuff). As for the scrollbar, I had exactly the same thought, but when I hid it, it prevented the mousewheel from working. Maybe if I position the scrollbar so it's inside the content div it at least won't shunt the banner 15px to the left?
Revamping the old UI for the mobile game:
The whole game has grown a lot. It looks nice as hell. There's quite a lot on the screen though, is all of it always visible or only when it's relevant?
Ok, so I finally got the chance to fix that stupid dithering problem. I never noticed that there was another option that controlled dithering in the publish settings. [t]http://i.imgur.com/NSNzbfx.gif[/t] Sorry if this is like reposting or something.
The whole game has grown a lot. It looks nice as hell. There's quite a lot on the screen though, is all of it always visible or only when it's relevant?
Thanks! The progress is slow but steady :v: We went for a slightly heavy UI because we wanted to create the feel of some of the classic RPG/Action UI style such as big icons for weapons, bars, big hearts and the classic character head. Not everything will be at all times though, the current plan is that the powerups on the side only show up when the player catches them, the pet skill (the button on the lower left) will be semi-transparent during cooldown. Other stuff we could do is the number of coins, score and hearts stay hidden and only show up when it's relevant but we were not counting on doing that, but if the general opinion is that it feels way too heavy we will do it.
How about
You've got excessive background weight to the right and very little on the left; despite having a character there it still feels like it needs something on the left to balance it all out. I'd try flipping that planet and having it on the left, and also using the shattered glass more constructively to lead the eye in towards the head of the figure. Don't overdo it - maybe a little triangular bit sticking out of the curved window frame where it comes close to the bottom right corner of the image also rim lighting on the shaded side of the figure so you don't lose those edges against the darkness of space

That aside, the UI is nice and fits with the aesthetic, I like it.

I was set on having the character in the center but I think I like him off set to the side more. Also I just realized that with the shattered glass itll make more sense why the alien and robot are clinging onto him like that. Hopefully i start the underpainting this weekend if I have time, between having to do like 3 fucking essays and this claymation and other regular hw.

Why do people make such a big deal about learning anatomy? I personally think it's awesome figuring out how and why different parts of your body work
Why do people make such a big deal about learning anatomy? [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] So this is what I'm doing now, supposed to be a scifi chick in scifi armor getting shot in the head... not killed but shot.
So I've been drawing in a sketchbook for a bit, but I'd like to scan in sketches for coloring/draw on the computer. I don't know anything about sketching/coloring software. Is there something most people use?
i use photoshop [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline]
So this is what I'm doing now, supposed to be a scifi chick in scifi armor getting shot in the head... not killed but shot.
i think you need to practice drawing more penises and boobies i mean you need to practice anatomy, even if you have to act it out yourself infront of a mirror(i do it sometimes it's mostly to get the feel of the length of your body and proportions)
I drew some nudity :v: [Img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9CCTzrK.jpg?1[/img_thumb]
Shit son, thanks. The canvas is 24x30 tho so i gotta figure out the best placement for the background, but i love the idea of a planet in the background definitely gonna go with this, thannks a lot man. Also the two things are some sort of lizard alien and robot companions or something like that. Im excited to start this now haha
np Yeah I couldn't quite make out what that mass by his leg was so I just did away with it :v:
You've got excessive background weight to the right and very little on the left; despite having a character there it still feels like it needs something on the left to balance it all out. Can anyone post a tutorial to get me started with painting using my tablet? I see most people use the same kind of technique which I'd like to try.

I resorted to using on online tool. Teach me your secrets.
Audacity, surprisingly enough, is a very neat tool for visual glitching. you can control it through different effects (used reverb & wahwah on those photos) and the results are relatively predictable, yet still unique enough to be interesting [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] open image in photoshop, save as .RAW (as non-interleaved). import in to audacity as 3 channel U-law with no endianness; do whatever you want to the photo, then export the same way as you imported, then open in photoshop again to see the end result

Nobody had any problems with my anatomy before I mentioned I was not interested in doing phallic studies, so if you have some actual criticism I'll take it, but if you just want to defend the hours you've spent staring at a man's junk then move to the debate thread.
did a really quick environment study and then put some overblown noise and aberration on it to give it that kinda shitty 70s photo look nothing too serious it's just for a game design doc for uni
