only excuse I can think of is space hair, idk I'll work it out
More acrylic experimentation.

glue and plants
Did some of my usual muscle/anatomy practice. Found out I didn't have my pencils on me at work tonight (student work study, so I have nothing but down time) and only had a ball point pen. Made due with what I had, sadly it' a bit sloppy as pen isn't my strong point:

I apologize for the facebook link and the filter. Look really washed out without it due to lighting.

Right now the lightning is very weak but damn I sure love the surreal looking of that. Can't wait for you to refine it.

He only paints, yes? I forgot to mention that I was drawing with pencils.
That third comp turns me on Mal
Sand looks ok, maybe drop it a bit in the second one
Weak figures once again aren't doing your landscapes justice
Mako you'd best try to pick up an external HDD low space or not. If you scavenge around hard enough there are some decent deals out there. I got myself a 3TB external drive for $70 once upon a time. Although if you're able extra internal drives do just as well and are about the same cost.
I have one as it happens
I'm just so lazy when it comes to boring stuff like that, you wouldn't believe

On topic: I think it looks cool and supports the fast/acrobatic/elegant role of this character. Doesn't have to be realistic.
Yeah, I actually kinda like the hair just doing it's own thing and disregarding physics. It's neat.
Pretentious 17 color "retro" mockup, with no regard to hardware limitations or resolution.

Started on this, whaddayou guys think?
Also contemplating on what to do with the background, if anything.

I like it, you're definitelly getting better with colours. The problem with this picture is, that the lighting is almost the same everywhere. Also there are lots of green and red both in the shadows and highlights, and that completely messes the drawing into one strage green thing with almost no focuses.
I made some shitty edit of your painting (the only tool I have at this moment is my weak laptop and it's touchpad), so sorry for the quality, but I think this can express what I mean. Not so sure it's better, but still.

Yes, but the rest of teh character was drawn in a realistic style. It works with Jesse because anime is much more stylized and also because you can see her face. With it flying straight up off the visor it's disconcerting to me.
Also Jesse's hair doesn't move at all in that spin wtf
omg you're right wtf

If it was a little grayer in the top pic, I would've mistaken that as a Colossus from SotC. Fascinating stuff

just some anatomy practice before i start on learning to colour properly
Have you guys seen this guy's sketchbook? He's been posting in it since 2007. It's amazing to see how much he improves with time.
