Hey all, been lurking this thread for a little and well thought that I could stop by and post some of the things i do during classes so.. [T]http://i.imgur.com/22R3ZAy.jpg[/T] [t]http://i.imgur.com/LbrCdSh.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/zsujY9i.jpg[/T]

Just did something I'd been super nervous about doing (and that I'd been putting off for months upon months). Didn't work out as I'd hoped, but the feeling I got from just doing it inspired me to do some creatives. Done a poem. I know it probably doesn't break any fresh ground as far as literature is concerned but eh, I'm happy with it. I also know there is some non-conventional repeating of words and stuff. Don't worry, I've edited and revised it many, many times - it's all there intentionally. [editline]7th April 2014[/editline] that double comma isn't intentional though whoops

pretty awkward and hiccoughing for the most part, I liked the last couple of lines though.

But I don't think poetry always needs to do that, as long as its a true expression or interpretation by one person to be received by another I think that sometimes that's all a poem needs to be.
Whoa, all these great pieces of work and then I come to ruin the party. [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/kK3XKK.png[/img_thumb]
I dig your capacity to polish and render your work, but if you're looking for another path to look in I'd suggest you try your hands on, well, I'm not really sure how to say it but it's like combining the rendering effort with the narrative of your content. In laymans terms I guess it would mean making your work be more 'dramatic' with how you execute your art. So this isn't my work, but I think they're good examples of what I'm talking about. You can tell the shadows the artists painted flows throughout the entire canvas, connecting it together, and working towards the benefit of the content's narrative. High contrast of darkness and fire adds to the agency of the first piece, and the shadows of the second piece make it look very theatrical and interpretive. [T]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4565878/facepunch/VC/7c370b07346b517655e43415c8fdf400.jpg[/T][T]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4565878/facepunch/VC/cloth_by_mr__jack-d77p659.jpg[/T] With your work I feel like your rendering style only works for the benefit of defining what your 3D shapes are, probably due to your reliance on cylindrical shading (shadows on the side, light in the center). So if you're looking to dip your toes into something different, try working with more dramatic/interesting lighting setup and tones; celebrate the fact that your painting is a painting and look at how different elements flow between each other in the composition.
I don't know how you do it, but it feels like you always know how to put into words the things that bother me about my stuff. I've really put my foot down and cut the cylinder nonsense, and I already feel way better about how my next piece is turning out. I feel like I should be paying you, you're easily more helpful than most teachers I've had. :v

Keep it up, I recall Shenanigansen(?) got popular the same way.
made this for the random album cover thread in photoshop contests [t]http://i.imgur.com/NU0AAxl.png[/t] I kinda like it

I'm pretty excited to take a go at digital art for the first time. I did a few test runs of it, and then decided to try my first real piece. It didn't really turn out how I wanted, but I think it's worth showing you guys: Ref: http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Matt+Shultz+2009+Points+West+Music+Arts+Festival+L9AsCh3ctiWl.jpg I'm not yet confident enough to do colors [editline] April 7, 2014 [/editline] ugh my mistakes become more and more glaring as I compare the pictures
O, to summon a man, a woman, old or young, frail or strong, an eye or a tongue, black or brown (not dressed as a clown) every time I need it be, to draw what I see! not what I think. ... I wish all art models weren't pasty white and idealistically built.

I feel like you need to look back over the value range though.

I started a commission for a friend. Here's the quick movement sketch I made. [t]http://puu.sh/80hor.jpg[/t] Since he's being generous and adding a bit more to the price, I feel that this needs to be top notch. So I was wondering if there is any improvement to the movement or proportions I should make on it before starting the cleanup and the inking. Can't be half-assed or just well done. It had to be more then excellent.
Uh, oh. The NSA's all over this thread now, and the secret service probably.
I made this and want to forcefully show people it [t]http://i.imgur.com/ycGWBgn.jpg[/t] Taste the rainbow, Alfred.

I was wondering why it seemed so familiar! Well, time to go back to lurking here again.
I thought that was more common. I can hear every event in that animation, especially the flashes.
Yeah i do that too. And that's why i cant watch quickly looping gifs. Everytime it plays i hear the same sound until i get annoyed by it and have to scroll it away.

If you want it to be amazing you should spend more time on the preliminary stages. I guess you can either fill out all of the limbs properly with bones and muscles and that, or you can just do the cleanup thing and it'll look essentially how it does now but mistakes will be easier to see and then you can continually tweak it until it looks ok The latter isn't ideal but the former might be beyond you for the time being so you might have to settle
Uh, oh. The NSA's all over this thread now, and the secret service probably.
what are you doing
I thought that was more common. I can hear every event in that animation, especially the flashes.
I studied synesthesia quite a bit because I have it too. I think it's something like one in every 23 people who has it and it's quite common that people with synesthesia are also rather creative.
